My Superpower Leads Me to Murderers
Chapter 337: Feudal Superstition, I’ve Reported You All
Chapter 337: Chapter 337: Feudal Superstition, I’ve Reported You All
Butler Taylor bowed slightly, answering the question with a respectful expression.
After receiving an affirmative answer, Milton Thorne, Warren Thorne’s son, turned to the man beside him with an indescribably fanatical expression. "Wizard, from here on, my father’s health is in your hands!"
The Wizard arrogantly lifted his chin. "Very well."
Milton Thorne clenched his fists in excitement. ’As long as Dad recovers and has the energy to take over his work again, the company’s business will get back on track, and I won’t have to tear my hair out over all these documents anymore!’
"Excellent. I will pay half the deposit now. Once this is successful, the other half will be transferred to your account on time, Wizard." Milton Thorne nodded to Butler Taylor, who was standing beside him.
In less than a minute, a sum of money appeared in the Wizard’s account.
After seeing the amount, the smile on the Wizard’s face grew warmer, and his tone became more confident. "Leave it to me. I guarantee there won’t be a single mistake."
Believing he had handled everything perfectly, Milton Thorne left the room with Butler Taylor.
Once they were out of sight, Officer Lee was just about to switch camera feeds to check on Leo Bell when he heard the Wizard mutter under his breath, "Tch. Bunch of superstitious fools. Just see if I don’t report you."
Huh?
A wizard calling other people superstitious?
In front of the computer, Zoe Sawyer and the others looked astonished. ’Isn’t this Wizard working with the Thornes?’
Before Zoe and her team could figure it out, they saw the Wizard pull out his phone, type out a message, and send it.
After sending the message, the Wizard seemed much more cheerful. He put his phone away and left as well.
After everyone had gone, Zoe Sawyer and the others waited a little longer to make sure no one else was coming before they started talking.
"This Wizard doesn’t seem to be on the same page as the Thornes. And when he mentioned reporting them, he almost certainly meant reporting them to the police," Heath Hale said, pointing at the computer screen.
If that was really the case, things would be much simpler.
They could contact this Wizard and coordinate with him from the inside. That way, they could preserve evidence of the Thornes’ crimes while also ensuring Leo Bell’s safety.
But for now, this was all just speculation. They had to see how the situation actually developed.
"Evan, contact the dispatch center and see if they’ve received any tips," Heath Hale said, looking at Evan Keller who was standing nearby.
"Alright, I’ll go now." Evan Keller didn’t waste any time.
Less than three minutes later, Evan Keller rushed back, this time with a smile on his face.
"We got one! Dispatch just received a tip-off. It says a superstitious ritual is going to be held here tomorrow. The activity will very likely endanger the life of a minor, and it urges the police to show up tomorrow to catch them red-handed.
It also included a detailed address and time. The address isn’t the one we just located, but a different place." Evan Keller showed the photo he’d taken of the text message to the others.
Things were developing in the exact way they had hoped!
"Great! But we need to be prepared. I’ll arrange for people to stake out both addresses right now. If the situation is really as the message says, we’ll catch them red-handed!" Sean Hughes clenched his fist excitedly, then assigned several officers to watch the two locations.
But they had to be careful when getting close to avoid being spotted by the Thornes, or all their efforts would be for nothing.
To prevent any other problems, Evan Keller also assigned two people to watch the computer monitor in shifts, so they wouldn’t miss any small moves and could react in time.
"What about the two in the reception room? We can’t just let them stay here all night, can we?" Zoe Sawyer asked, remembering Elara Sterling and the homeroom teacher.
Given the current situation, with the Wizard’s tip-off, all they had to do tomorrow was rush in at the right time and apprehend them.
It didn’t seem like they needed Elara Sterling and the teacher to wait around anymore.
"Let them go home and rest. You can tell them a little about Leo Bell’s situation, but don’t say anything else for now," Evan Keller instructed, looking at Hayden Shaw beside him.
Hayden Shaw nodded to show he understood.
He then turned, left the office, and headed toward the reception room.
"I’ll take on the task of communicating with the Wizard. Everyone else, except for those watching the monitor, can clock out and go home to rest. We have a busy day tomorrow." After arranging the remaining work, Evan Keller sent the rest of the team home to rest.
Zoe Sawyer quickly called Heath Hale over to help bring in the takeout she had ordered.
She had promised to treat them to a meal out. Although the sudden case prevented that, they could still have takeout. It also saved everyone a trip to the cafeteria.
「The next morning」
When Zoe Sawyer arrived at the office, she found everyone gathered around the computer screen.
"What’s wrong? Did something happen to Leo Bell?" Zoe’s heart skipped a beat as she hurried over to ask about the situation.
Sean Hughes shifted in his seat to make some room for Zoe, then pointed at the screen and said, "No, it’s that around five this morning, a group of men broke in and took Leo Bell away.
Our people were stationed not far from the house. When they saw a car leave, they followed it to the location the Wizard gave us.
Evan has already taken a team over there. We’re watching the live feed now."
Because the case was straightforward, they didn’t need many people on-site.
So everyone who remained in the office was gathered around the computer monitor, eager to see what was happening at the scene.
Zoe Sawyer nodded. ’So that’s what happened.’
Meanwhile, Evan Keller and his team arrived at the designated location before the time the Wizard had provided.
It was a derelict old building.
Through a broken window, they had a clear view of the yard of the Thorne family’s neighboring villa with binoculars.
Beside them, a junior officer was operating a drone, which was circling high above.
Unnoticed by the Thornes, it was recording everything happening in the yard below.
An altar table was set up in the Thorne family’s yard, laden with fresh fruits and vegetables, incense, and paper ingots.
Behind the table lay two unconscious people.
Warren Thorne had been changed into Leo Bell’s school uniform. Due to his size, the uniform was stretched taut, exposing his arms, legs, and stomach. Leo Bell, meanwhile, was dressed in a suit that was clearly too large for him.
Red symbols were painted on their hands, feet, and faces.
The Wizard, dressed in a mysterious-looking outfit, was brandishing a sword and dancing wildly in an open space. He would occasionally stop to twitch his body strangely, looking rather ridiculous.
