My Superpower Leads Me to Murderers
Chapter 325: Almost Gave the Game Away
Chapter 325: Chapter 325: Almost Gave the Game Away
Then, Zoe Sawyer saw the man take out his phone and make a call.
After the call connected, he said just one sentence: "You’re being tailed by the cops."
Zoe Sawyer couldn’t help but gasp. ’This man is one of them, too!’
’No, that’s not right. When did he show up?’
Zoe stared at the man. Probably trying to avoid attention, he was dressed in simple, casual clothes, wearing black-framed glasses, with a pair of over-ear headphones around his neck and a gaming console in his hands.
Who would have thought that this guy, who looked as harmless as a college student, was actually the mastermind behind the drug dealers.
After memorizing the man’s face, Zoe Sawyer began to push the time backward.
Seven p.m., six, five.
When she pushed the time back to three in the afternoon, Zoe Sawyer finally saw the man appear at the mall entrance.
After entering the mall, the man had a clear objective. He walked directly to a bench on the first floor, sat down, took out his gaming console and headphones, and started to play.
Zoe then fast-forwarded through the following hours and discovered that the man hadn’t moved from that bench the entire time.
He was like a hardcore gamer, so addicted that he seemed to see nothing but his game.
No wonder Evan Keller and the others had overlooked him when they passed by. He was just too ordinary.
He blended into the crowd seamlessly.
After that, Zoe didn’t even have to think; the door shifted its perspective on its own, following the man.
Next, Zoe Sawyer witnessed the entire arrest process carried out by Evan Keller and his team.
The team, which had been tailing them perfectly, suddenly noticed the drug dealers ahead picking up their pace, pushing their way into the crowd and toward various alleys.
The experienced officers knew at once: they had been exposed.
They immediately dropped their cover and gave chase at full speed.
Although the two drug dealers had been tipped off, there were only two of them. The team quickly cornered them in a dead end.
After a series of physical altercations, they successfully apprehended both dealers, though one officer was injured in the process.
The moment they were captured, the door’s perspective shifted again, this time to the man from before.
He was seen returning home at top speed, grabbing a backpack from the sofa, and then feeling around under the coffee table to retrieve a small notebook and several bags of white powder.
He stuffed them into his pockets and quickly left his apartment.
After she had watched this scene play out, the door gently pushed Zoe Sawyer away.
"Are you okay? You look terrible." Heath Hale reached out just in time to steady Zoe Sawyer’s faltering body.
After helping her to a nearby chair, Heath thoughtfully handed her a piece of chocolate to help her regain some energy.
After standing motionless for over an hour again, Zoe Sawyer’s arms and legs felt numb.
"I’m fine. I saw their faces. Beau, come over and help me sketch them." After finishing the chocolate and chugging a large glass of water, Zoe felt like she was fully recharged.
She then called over Beau, who was sitting on the other side of the room.
Beau wasted no time, grabbing a notebook, dragging over a chair, and plopping down right next to Zoe Sawyer.
One described the faces while the other drew nonstop.
Not far away, Sean Hughes and the others didn’t make a sound, not wanting to disturb the two of them. Everyone just watched Zoe Sawyer and Beau quietly.
Soon, three portraits emerged from Beau’s pen.
Zoe Sawyer checked them over and had a few details corrected before handing the three sketches to the waiting Evan Keller and Sean Hughes.
"These are sketches of the three drug dealers. The first one, in particular, seems to be their superior." Zoe Sawyer recounted everything she had seen in the door to the others.
Upon hearing that the man had been waiting at the location for several hours in advance, the expressions on Evan Keller and the others turned grim.
If Zoe Sawyer hadn’t discovered this in time, even if they had caught the two contacts later, they would have already tipped off their main target.
"Fortunately, since we know what they look like now, we don’t have to wait for the transaction. We can pinpoint their residences and move in to arrest them," Evan Keller said after a moment of thought, feeling that the longer they waited, the more could go wrong.
These kinds of drug dealers needed to be brought to justice as soon as possible.
Especially that man in the casual clothes. The notebook he made sure to take before he fled must contain extremely important intelligence.
"I agree. We need to catch them quickly. Who knows what might happen by tomorrow," Sean Hughes chimed in.
As for the others in the office, they had no objections either.
"Alright. Liam, you and Zoe Sawyer confirm these three’s addresses as quickly as possible. Sean Hughes, you get the others geared up. As soon as we have the locations, we move out immediately.
I’m going to report to the chief right now." Evan Keller picked up his phone, dialed the chief’s number, and told him what had just happened.
The chief asked a few more questions. Once he confirmed that Evan Keller had everything prepared and didn’t need any additional manpower, he approved their operation.
With Beau’s sketches and the help of big data filtering, Officer Lee quickly found the current residences of the three men.
"Their places are pretty far apart. But that’s good; it’ll make it easier to arrest them without being detected," Evan Keller said, staring at the addresses on the screen, his fingers unconsciously tapping on the desk.
It was a habit of his when he was thinking.
"There’s no time to lose. We move out now," Evan Keller said, standing up.
Although the three men lived far from each other, they decided to split into three teams to arrest them just to be safe.
Evan Keller would take the man in casual clothes, while Sean Hughes and Heath Hale would handle the other two couriers.
Once the targets were assigned, the three of them didn’t linger, quickly leading their team members to the destinations.
They were all wearing real-time communication earpieces to stay in touch about their progress.
By now, it was already around one in the morning.
Zoe Sawyer sat at her desk, staring toward the door, feeling uneasy.
Her hand unconsciously drifted to her chest.
She felt her heart pounding, as if something was about to happen.
’Could something go wrong with tonight’s operation?’
The thought made Zoe even more restless. She shot up from her chair and strode over to the door.
She gripped the doorknob and let out a deep breath.
Beau rubbed her eyes, but still grabbed her drawing pen and went to sit behind Zoe Sawyer.
Officer Lee and Vivian Dunn, who were still in the office, noticed Zoe’s actions, their expressions turning anxious.
’Is there another complication?’
’Why else would Zoe have such a serious expression?’
"Zoe Sawyer, did something else happen?"
