Chapter 298: Chapter 298: These 3 Are the Same Person

Zoe Sawyer and the others couldn’t hear the other side of the call, but soon, they heard Sean Vance’s pleasantly surprised reply: "For real? That’s great!

"Windnew Building. Three p.m. tomorrow. I’ll be there on time!"

Having received a firm confirmation, Sean Vance happily threw himself onto the sofa. He hummed a tune intermittently, his fingers flying across his phone screen.

Then, as if remembering something, he shot up from the sofa. "This won’t do. I need to pack."

With that, he rushed toward his room.

With such a promising start, Zoe Sawyer pumped her fist in excitement.

Evan Keller got up from his seat. "I’m going to tell Captain Taylor right now."

This was a huge break.

Knowing the location ahead of time meant they could deploy their people before the target arrived.

If anything unexpected happened, they could react immediately and make the arrest.

"For real? Fantastic! We were just getting ready to bring in this Sean Vance!

"It would be even better if we could get more than one person!" Captain Taylor clapped Evan Keller on the shoulder, clearly pleased. "Good work, Captain Keller. Please keep up the surveillance and inform me immediately if anything new comes up."

"Got it." Evan Keller nodded to Captain Taylor. After confirming there were no other instructions, he returned to the office.

Once Evan was gone, another person walked up to Captain Taylor, clicking his tongue in amazement. "Captain Taylor, this external support you brought in is really something. Getting new information this fast is incredible.

"But is the source reliable? What if it’s a trap? If we rush in blindly, we’ll just tip them off."

"We’ve worked so hard to get this far. If we only end up catching a small-time crook, all our previous efforts will have been for nothing!"

Captain Taylor shot the man an annoyed glare. "They wouldn’t be our external support if they weren’t capable. Relax. If their intel isn’t reliable, then no one’s is.

"You don’t need to worry about it. Just trust the intel they provide. Don’t overthink it, and don’t go bothering them. Maybe when you’re sitting in my chair someday, you’ll get the chance to know the truth."

Captain Taylor’s last words were loaded with meaning, but his message was clear.

The abilities of this support team were classified. Don’t ask what you’re not cleared to know.

The man who had been warned just shrugged. He didn’t press the issue. As long as the case got solved, that was all that mattered.

When Evan Keller got back to the office, Beau was already reviewing the surveillance footage.

Since there was nothing for her to do at the moment, Zoe Sawyer sat down next to Beau to watch with him.

It wasn’t long before Beau spotted something unusual.

"This person, this one here, and this one... they’re all the same guy," Beau said, pointing to the large screen.

Everyone followed his finger, but all they saw were three completely different people. The two clips were from less than an hour apart.

One was a cleaner in a uniform, hunched over, wearing gloves and a mask, sweeping with a broom.

The second was a harmless-looking scavenger, his hands and face covered in grime. He was squatting by the roadside, gnawing on a steamed bun. At his feet was a woven bag, stuffed full of crushed plastic bottles.

The last was a food delivery driver, his helmet obscuring most of his face. He was carrying a customer’s order in his left hand and his own meal in his right, wolfing it down as he stood in front of a trash can.

Evan Keller’s eyes widened in disbelief. ’These three seemingly unrelated people... they’re actually the same person?’

"Beau, how did you spot that?" Evan Keller asked, turning his gaze to him.

Basking in the curious stares from everyone, Beau placed his hands on his hips with a smug little "Hmph!" He then tugged on Vivian Dunn’s sleeve and whispered, "Vivian, can you slow down the video and rewind it for me?"

Vivian Dunn agreed and dragged the video’s progress bar back to the beginning.

Beau pointed to the figures on the screen, laying out the similarities he’d observed for everyone in the office. "Look at their posture when they walk. They have a habit of keeping their right arm tucked in close, so it barely swings. Then there’s their gait. The walking cadence of these two is identical, and their stride length is the same. Even when they stop, their right foot points outward."

Beau also spotted and pointed out several other subconscious tics.

With Beau’s explanation, Zoe Sawyer and the others focused on the two figures, now watching for the traits he had described.

Sure enough, on closer inspection, the two individuals’ various tics and habits were completely identical.

People who had seemed utterly unrelated were now connected.

The same person appearing in three different identities in less than an hour—that was obviously suspicious.

"Most people instinctively keep their distance from cleaners and scavengers, and delivery drivers are so common that everyone’s used to them popping up out of nowhere. No one would be suspicious of any of these three groups. They’re exploiting that public mindset to complete the handoff," Heath Hale said, having quickly put the pieces together.

"Exactly. And there’s one place he can go where no one would ever suspect a thing," Evan Keller added, quickly catching on to Heath Hale’s train of thought.

Zoe Sawyer looked at the surveillance footage, her tone firm. "The trash can!"

"Right! The trash can! One person is throwing out garbage, another is emptying the bin, and the third is rummaging through it for plastic bottles.

"Especially the cleaner and the scavenger. It’s completely normal for them to be near a trash can, so no one would think twice about what they’re doing. They use that opportunity to hide something inside or make a transfer," Heath Hale added.

Evan Keller crossed his arms. After a moment’s thought, he looked up and said, "Vivian, you and Beau keep reviewing the footage. I’m going to find Captain Taylor and request all surveillance from this area for the last few days."

’This single clip isn’t enough,’ he thought. ’They need to look at a longer period to understand what’s going on.’

Zoe Sawyer, meanwhile, memorized the location and time from the video, preparing to use her retrospection ability to see exactly what important item they had transferred via the trash can.

Perhaps because Captain Taylor was aware of Zoe Sawyer’s ability, there was a small, closed-door room in the corner of the office.

This was convenient for what Zoe Sawyer needed to do next.

Heath Hale followed Zoe Sawyer to the door.

Zoe Sawyer took hold of the doorknob, her mind replaying the scene from the footage—the time, the place.

Soon, a familiar sensation washed over her.

Zoe Sawyer pulled the door open, and a bustling square instantly appeared before her.

"Hey, young man, step aside. Let me grab that bottle."
