Chapter 231: Chapter 231: This Was Your Plan from the Very Beginning

’She really wants to destroy me!’

From the very beginning, Laura Sherman’s goal had been to make her confess to plagiarism in front of everyone!

Wanda Sherman’s face turned grim. Facing so many people, she didn’t want to admit it!

If she wasn’t mistaken, someone across the way was even live streaming! Once she admitted it, her reputation would be completely ruined!

Her fame, her fortune, and her handsome boyfriend would all abandon her!

Wanda Sherman’s gaze fell on Evan Keller and the others standing at the door. Her eyes darted around. ’The police won’t just stand by and watch Laura Sherman hurt me, will they?’

"Laura, you can’t just come to me for money because your life isn’t going well. I have a life to live, too. I have parents to support. I really don’t have anything to give you." Wanda Sherman’s expression quickly changed, her voice filled with grievance.

While Evan Keller was still trying to figure out how to negotiate with Laura Sherman, he suddenly heard gasps from the surrounding crowd.

He snapped his head up and saw the assailant, who had been relatively still just a moment ago, suddenly tighten her grip. A distinct red mark appeared on the victim’s neck.

"You haven’t seriously hurt anyone yet! Put down the knife and turn yourself in, it’s not too late! Don’t do something foolish. You’ll end up destroying her, and yourself!" Evan Keller shouted to Laura Sherman inside.

The officer next to him raised a tranquilizer gun, searching for the perfect time and angle to take a shot.

The moment Wanda Sherman finished speaking, she felt a sharp pain on her neck.

She could even feel a warm trickle of liquid slide down her throat.

’I’m bleeding!’

’I must be bleeding!’

"Laura, calm down! There are so many police officers outside. If you really kill me, you won’t be able to escape either." Wanda Sherman’s voice was tinged with sobs as she reached a hand toward her boyfriend, trying to seek comfort.

When the man saw his girlfriend’s tears, his temper flared instantly.

He grabbed a nearby police officer and yelled, "Get in there and save her! Why are you just standing here doing nothing?

If anything happens to my girlfriend, you’ll be the first ones I file a complaint against!"

"Wendy, your boyfriend is so thoughtful," Laura Sherman said, yanking her closer. "But it seems he doesn’t know why I’m doing this. Why don’t you explain it to him?" She took a few steps toward a nearby cabinet, blocking the line of sight of the officer with the tranquilizer gun. "If you keep dragging this out, I can’t guarantee what I might do."

Wanda Sherman understood Laura Sherman. Likewise, Laura Sherman understood Wanda Sherman and knew she had already guessed the purpose behind this act.

But Laura Sherman wasn’t worried. She knew Wanda Sherman’s cowardly, life-cherishing nature all too well.

’All I need to do is be a little tougher and threaten her a bit more, and I guarantee she’ll spill everything.’

’She’s still acting tough because she thinks she’s safe with the police at the door.’

’But as for her parents back in her hometown... that’s another story.’

"Wendy, I hear your parents have been enjoying their evening strolls lately. It gets dark out. If something were to happen by accident..." Laura Sherman didn’t finish her sentence, but Wanda Sherman had already imagined the gruesome conclusion.

Hearing Laura Sherman mention her parents, Wanda Sherman immediately panicked. She began to beg her not to harm them, pleading that they were innocent and knew nothing.

"Then tell everyone what you did!" Laura Sherman’s voice suddenly shot up, shattering what little composure Wanda Sherman had left.

"I shouldn’t have published your novel as my own, and then mocked you for it. I was wrong." Wanda Sherman closed her eyes and recounted what she had done.

Laura Sherman frowned, dissatisfied. "Louder!"

Since she had already said it, Wanda Sherman, now at her wit’s end, repeated her confession, much louder this time.

This time, her voice was so loud that not only could everyone present hear it, but even the viewers in the live stream heard it crystal clear.

The already chaotic scene became even more tumultuous, and the number of viewers in the live stream skyrocketed once again.

The man’s expression froze. He stared at his girlfriend, his face a mask of disbelief.

’Plagiarized?’

’She actually plagiarized?’

After hearing Wanda Sherman’s words, a satisfied Laura Sherman pulled her out from behind the cabinet.

She said to Evan Keller and the others standing at the door, "Send a female officer over."

As soon as she finished speaking, Sean Hughes stepped forward. With all eyes on her, she slowly approached the two women.

Finally, she reached out and successfully pulled Wanda Sherman from Laura Sherman’s grasp.

The moment she was free, Wanda Sherman clutched the wound on her neck and tugged on Sean Hughes’s sleeve, telling her to arrest Laura Sherman.

As Sean Hughes approached, Laura Sherman decisively dropped the knife and raised her hands in a gesture of surrender. "I didn’t hurt her. If you don’t believe me, you can check her neck. The blood on her neck is from my finger."

Hearing this, Wanda Sherman clutched her neck and walked over to the coffee table. She picked up a mirror from it and looked. Sure enough, there was only a shallow scratch on her neck. The skin was slightly broken and it stung a little, but it wasn’t bleeding.

And the blood she had felt was just a single drop.

She had been too terrified at the time to notice something was wrong.

Wanda Sherman’s expression turned ugly. The small scrape on her neck would heal in a couple of days. She wouldn’t even be able to use the injury as an excuse to have the police arrest Laura.

’Damn it, how did Laura think of everything!’

’But wait... couldn’t I just say I was terrified and only confessed to placate Laura?’

Wanda Sherman’s mind raced, searching for a way out of her predicament.

Sean Hughes performed a check and confirmed that Wanda Sherman’s neck wasn’t seriously injured, and the blood had indeed come from Laura Sherman.

But before Wanda Sherman could come up with an excuse, she heard Laura Sherman speak again. "Officer, I want to file a report. Wanda Sherman plagiarized a novel I wrote, profited from it, and even sold the rights.

Check under the coffee table. I stuck a recording pen there. It has our entire conversation on it—the whole thing. She admitted to the plagiarism with her own mouth.

I recall that under copyright law, it’s illegal to plagiarize another person’s work and profit from it. The amount of money she made is enough for a prison sentence."

Wanda Sherman’s face changed drastically. She had thought about the live stream, but relaxed her guard after seeing no equipment around her. She never imagined there would be a recording pen.

Almost instinctively, Wanda Sherman lunged for the recording pen, but Sean Hughes was a step faster.

Her expression, combined with her actions and her earlier confession, served as the final nail in the coffin, confirming her plagiarism.

Sean Hughes wrapped the recording pen in a tissue, secured it, and then looked at Laura Sherman, who was standing to the side. Her voice was certain.

"You planned all of this from the start, didn’t you!"
