My Supernatural Girlfriends Spoils Me Rotten
Chapter 428: The Promise Part 3
"Big words for something I created!"
Angeline’s palm turned upward, and light gathered along her fingers until a blade took shape from nothing — gold edged in white fire, humming with the kind of density that could split a moon in half.
She wasn’t the first to move, though.
Jormungandr came from the black beyond the fleet’s formation, a coil of scale and hunger vast enough that entire ships repositioned just to avoid its wake.
World-eater was not a title it had earned through metaphor. Its jaw alone could have swallowed the Council’s flagship without slowing down, and it crossed the distance to Asher in a single motion, mouth already open.
Asher didn’t dodged.
He lifted one hand. Between his fingers, a magic circle bloomed — a thousand layers stacked into a space smaller than a coin, lines compressed so tightly they looked less like sigils and more like a single point of light trying to hold its shape.
"Light of Destruction!"
The beam of light that passed through Jamungard’s skull left no explosion behind it, no scorched trail— just a clean hole where a god’s thoughts used to be.
The world-eater’s momentum carried its body forward for another second before the muscles caught up to what had already happened.
Then it floated in silence. Its massive coils loosened and spread across the empty space, no longer carrying the strength that once moved them. Slowly, its enormous body began to shrink as the energy sustaining it faded away, disappearing along with its life.
"W...What happened?"
Angeline’s blade stayed raised, forgotten in her hand. Her mouth opened, closed, opened again, and nothing came out.
Around her, peak existences who was confident in there own strengths stood frozen, recalculating everything they thought they knew about what a fight between beings like them was supposed to look like.
Although Jormungandr was only an SSS+ rank and not a true peak existence, its size and durability alone placed it on another level. It was a being capable of withstanding proximity to an actual sun, yet it had died just like that.
A scene like this could only point to one conclusion: His opponent was overwhelmingly more powerful. And that was enough to make them warry.
How could someone with no known history simply appear out of nowhere?
Most peak existences had a history behind them. A bloodline. A legacy.
They had feats accumulated over countless battles, achievements earned as they climbed higher and higher through the ranks. Most of them had taken thousands of years to reach their current state, giving the universe plenty of time to learn their names before they stood at the top.
"Angeline. Who the hell is that man?" the Dragon God asked, his tone filled with frustration.
"T...This is impossible. How did he become this strong in such a short time? No, this can’t be..."
Pantheon’s voice slid into Asher’s mind, while the other gods were conversing.
(They’re not afraid of you yet. They’re ego is much stronger than you think.)
’I know. That’s why I’m planning to set things straight,’ Asher replied. ’The only way to make arrogant people see reason is to be more arrogant than they are.’
Angeline recovered first.
"I see you’ve evolved this far. As expected of my creation."
She looked at him with a complicated expression.
"Asher, you might not believe me, but I spent countless resources and even risked my own life to create you. An artificial soul capable of housing my beloved soul."
Her voice grew heavier.
"All of this power... this existence you have now... none of it would have been possible without me. You wouldn’t even exist if it weren’t for my efforts."
Asher simply smiled.
"Stop dreaming. I’ve already surpassed whatever you created me with and built myself into a new being altogether."
Angeline’s expression twisted, but she quickly hid it, refusing to lose her composure. She still saw her lover in Asher’s face and heard him in his voice. No matter what he said, a part of her refused to accept that the person she had lost was truly gone.
It was a cruel irony. They were both driven by the same desire—the longing to be reunited with the people they had lost.
Yet the very wish that had given them strength was now the reason they stood against each other.
Neither of them could surrender, because this battle was no longer just about their own desires. It carried the weight of the people they loved and the promises they refused to abandon.
"You belong to me," she said, softer now, the kind of soft that assumed no argument would follow. "Whatever you’ve become, you became it because I made you capable of becoming anything at all. Come home with me."
"I’m done with your nonsense." His aura erupted.
BOOOOOM!
There was still no trace of a Law within it, but the sheer volume was enough to make him look like the sun in front of everyone.
His time trapped in that prison dimension was not wasted. While others might have considered it a place of confinement, he had treated it as a training ground.
The dimension was filled with countless remnants of R’s power, fragments left behind from an existence that once stood far above the universe. Instead of being overwhelmed by that energy, he studied it, endured it, and slowly refined himself with it.
Although he failed to master the Law of Absolute Destruction, his strength still underwent a qualitative leap. Every aspect of his power—his aura, control, and output—reached an entirely different level.
Right now, his energy capacity was more than ten times greater than that of an ordinary peak existence—and that didn’t even account for the boost granted by his own Law.
Everyone witnessing this overwhelming display of dominance could only activate their defensive abilities. None of them dared to release their own aura, fully aware that doing so would only expose how inferior they were.
For beings as prideful as them, that was a difficult truth to accept, especially with so many people watching.
"Anyone who wishes to die, step forward."
