My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!
Chapter 1074 - 1077: Where Did He Go?
"You vicious bitch!" Gordon Grant roared at her with a twisted face. "Even if I die, don’t you dare think you’ll live well!"
"Then you might not die after all." Melody Thorne let out a light laugh. "You won’t let me go, so how could I possibly let you die? Not only will I not let you die, I’ll make sure you live nice and long!"
"Melody Thorne!" Gordon Grant tried to break free from the iron chains restraining him. "I won’t let you off, never. I won’t die, and you’ll end up worse than me, haha!"
"I’m perfectly fine—how could I possibly be worse off than you? You must be daydreaming!"
"Melody Thorne, you think I’m that easy to fool? You think I wouldn’t have a backup plan? Yesterday I already knew I wouldn’t escape from a woman like you, so I drugged you. And I’ve already destroyed the antidote. Just wait, your end will be just as miserable as mine!"
Melody Thorne grabbed the dagger by her side. "There are plenty of tools here that can make you beg for death. Spill it—what exactly did you give me?"
Since yesterday, there hadn’t been the slightest reaction from her body. At one point she’d thought the councilman was lying to her; otherwise how could there be no reaction at all?
"Something that’ll make you wish you were dead. If you’re going to kill me, then kill me—think I’m scared of you?"
"Young Master Jared." A soldier’s voice came from outside.
Melody Thorne immediately set the dagger aside.
"What are you doing here all by yourself?" Jared Quinn walked in and pulled her into his arms. "The smell of blood is too heavy in here, it’s bad for you. Try not to come again."
"Mm, let’s go. I just wanted to teach him a lesson and get a bit of revenge for myself." Melody covered it up, tugging Jared Quinn toward the outside.
She didn’t want Jared to worry, but she also had no idea what drug she’d actually been given.
Jared Quinn didn’t notice anything off about her. "Leon Rivers just called. He said you booked a face-skin mask with Old Man Ye, right? Are you still going to have it done?"
"Councilman Grant’s already been caught, so I don’t need it anymore, do I? Tell Old Man Ye I don’t need it for now, but I’ll keep the reservation. Who knows, I might need it in the future."
"Alright."
The Rivers Family.
Chloe Summers was in the living room playing with the little dog. She was the one who’d brought Melody Thorne’s pet dog over, borrowing it to play with for a few days.
"Miss Summers, it’s getting late. You should rest. Let me take the puppy downstairs." the servant said.
"Okay." Chloe Summers handed the dog to the servant, then suddenly realized Leon Rivers hadn’t shown up all day.
"Have you seen Leon Rivers? Where did he go?"
"Young Master is in the back courtyard. If Miss Summers has time, you could go keep him company," the servant said.
"What’s he doing in the back courtyard?"
"Sigh, today is the tenth anniversary of Madam Rivers’ passing. Young Master and Madam were very close since he was little, so whenever this day comes, he can’t get past it. He locks himself in the back courtyard and grieves alone."
Chloe Summers knew the back courtyard—that was where Madam Rivers had lived back when the Rivers Family still stayed here. Leon Rivers had renovated many parts of the house, but that was the one place he’d left untouched.
"Alright, I’ll go take a look." Chloe Summers agreed.
Back courtyard.
Leon Rivers, in a striped gentleman’s suit, had his hands shoved in his trouser pockets, his handsome face tight and composed.
Whenever Chloe Summers saw Leon Rivers, he was always lazy and carefree. She rarely saw him this steady and restrained—once was last time when he’d been drinking, and the other time was now.
