Chapter 1003 - 1006: Put Your Legs Away

Melody Thorne looked over and saw that what Donovan Hawthorne was holding was identical to what she had placed in the villa!

"It’s fake," Jared Quinn whispered into her ear.

If it were real, Donovan Hawthorne would have brought it out long ago. Why wait until now?

"This Donovan Hawthorne is terrifying, actually bringing out a fake for the inheritance."

"Even though it’s fake, as long as no one realizes it, he can get a whole bunch of officials to work for him," Harold Chapman explained. "But if it’s discovered, Donovan Hawthorne’s life would be in danger."

The people in the hall, seeing what Donovan Hawthorne held, immediately dared not speak out and developed a sense of respect.

"This, this can’t be..."

"Wallace Hawthorne, you better be careful with your words," Donovan Hawthorne warned.

Melody Thorne and Jared Quinn left The Hawthorne Family and saw Adjutant Chaucer waiting there.

"Miss Thorne, you must have already seen what’s happening inside," Adjutant Chaucer said.

"Commander Hawthorne expected this scene before he passed away. He knew neither of these two could accomplish great things, but they are both his sons. He didn’t want them to kill each other over an inheritance. So, Miss Thorne, I might need to trouble you with this matter."

"Are you suggesting I stop them from killing each other? To bring that item out?" Melody Thorne hesitated; she didn’t want to get involved with the military.

"That will depend on what Miss Thorne decides. If you choose not to bring it out, we will respect your decision," Adjutant Chaucer spoke politely.

The more polite he was, the more uncomfortable Melody Thorne felt. "Let’s go home and discuss it."

"I think Young Master Jared would hope you bring it out," Adjutant Chaucer said. "With that, Young Master Jared’s power here would be unmatched."

Jared Quinn’s eyes were indifferent. "She can do as she pleases."

As long as Melody Thorne was happy, nothing mattered to him, not even a secret army compared to her smile.

Adjutant Chaucer "..."

"I understand, then I’ll wait for Miss Thorne’s update."

"I might take a long time to consider," Melody Thorne stuck out her tongue.

Adjutant Chaucer "As long as you’re happy."

Back at the villa, Melody Thorne tossed and turned with the item that was causing her a headache.

What should she do? What should she really do?

Jared Quinn glanced at the document, his eye twitching slightly. His gaze moved to her bent leg, making him feel a heat as if she was silently inviting him.

"Melody Thorne, put your leg down!" he warned.

Melody Thorne "..."

She sat up from the large bed, the pendant in her hand swinging, almost driving her crazy. "I still don’t know what to do!"

"Think slowly, no one’s forcing you."

"That’s easy to say, but what if the Hawthorne brothers start fighting because of this and one ends up dead? Wouldn’t Grandpa Hawthorne die with regret?"

Jared Quinn closed the document, walked over, and took the item from her hand, explaining the pros and cons involved.

"Behind this item is a secret army, but they’re not yours to manage. There’s a designated person for that, and you can’t misuse it. Only if the country faces trouble or if you have no choice, you may use them. Otherwise, in ordinary times, you won’t need them.

But there’s one point, if it’s confirmed that the item is in your hands, and because you’re a woman, they might not respect you, they might make things difficult. Only if you prove yourself will they obey your orders."
