Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Offering to Level Up My Sugar-Mommy

I leaned forward slightly.

"He said one of the Empresses’ daughters is participating in this cycle."

"That rumor is confirmed."

Jenna folded her hands.

"Which means the examination board will be less tolerant of anomalies that look uncontrolled and more interested in anomalies that look decisive. Your current program of pure containment drills will not be enough. Mira and I are already adjusting the schedule."

"Rei has also requested extended training. Including nights."

"I’m aware. I approved the hours under observation protocols."

Jenna studied my face.

"You’re collecting complications faster than we can file them. Shen, Rei, the academy timeline, the unresolved situation with Gia. I need an honest answer from you before we lock the next twelve days. Can you function under pressure without the absorption pathway activating, or do we need to keep the chemical ceiling so low that your practical output will look mediocre on the examination stage?"

The question was clean.

"I can function," I said.

"But the margin is thinner than the reports make it look. If you want me to clear the entrance exams at a level that attracts the right attention instead of the wrong kind, the restrictions have to move from suppression toward a controlled ceiling."

A little pause, then I started again.

"Otherwise you’re sending a rewritten support into a real dungeon race at a fraction of capacity and hoping the examiners are generous."

Jenna was silent for a long moment.

Then she nodded once.

"Mira will raise the threshold by twelve percent starting tomorrow. If the absorption pathway even begins to surface, you take the secondary blocker, and you end the session. No exceptions. Clear?"

"Clear."

"And Revien."

"Yes?"

"Gia’s week is still running. You will not use the academy timeline as an excuse to compress it. If reconciliation is going to happen, it happens because both of you choose it, not because a schedule required a stable primary anchor on paper."

I held her gaze.

"Understood."

Jenna opened the schematic again, already moving to the next adjustment.

"Then go home. Eat. Sleep on a bed instead of the sofa. Tomorrow the real preparation starts, and you are not going to meet it running on guilt and fragmented rest."

I stood.

At the door I paused, then turned back instead of leaving.

Jenna was already reopening the schematic, fingers moving with the precise economy she brought to every administrative problem.

She noticed the shift in my posture and stopped.

I studied her face for a moment, trying to read past the usual composed surface.

"When you offered me sex before I went on the date with Gia," I said, "were you already aware of this? The absorption pathway. The way the class can turn?"

Something in her expression tightened, then cracked just enough to show the calculation underneath.

"Your hard nature? No."

She leaned back in the chair.

"I knew I needed more data. I knew the signatures after the first exchanges were atypical. But I also knew you had been clear about not wanting to become a pure utility. I respected that boundary while I still could."

I nodded once and walked slowly back toward the desk.

My fingers traced the top edge of her chair as I moved around it, not quite touching her, close enough that the space between us changed.

"What rank are you, Jenna?"

Her eyes sharpened.

"S."

"And your levels?"

"Above average for the rank."

"Were you a hunter who worked with multiple supports before? Why the long gaps between serious raids?"

Jenna took her time answering.

I could see her turning the question over, trying to map what I was actually reaching for.

"Once you pass a certain age and rank threshold, compatible high-output supports become scarce," she said finally.

"Some marry into exclusive contracts. Some settle into lower-risk work that still pays. I ran a few unsupported or lightly supported raids after my last primary arrangement ended. The results were... adequate. Not progressive."

The admission sat in the room without embellishment.

It was sad in the practical way most long careers in this world seemed to become sad, measured in plateaus instead of disasters.

"You didn’t know we were compatible when you bought my contract," I said.

"I didn’t. The early readings were promising but incomplete. That’s why the first real contact was a risk."

A faint, dry edge entered her voice.

"When I decided the most efficient test was to put your mouth on me, I accepted the data point. It paid off beyond the models."

"And you started leveling again after two years of stagnation."

Jenna went still.

The playfulness she sometimes used as social lubricant disappeared.

What remained was the guildmaster who had purchased an anomaly and was now hearing that anomaly recite private history back to her.

"How did you know that?"

"I don’t know. It registered somewhere and stayed. Two years without movement. Unable to push your own progression. Limited in how much you could directly accelerate Gia’s. Tell me the truth, Jen, were you afraid she would eventually hit the same stagnant wall if nothing changed?"

Her breathing shifted. Not dramatic. Just uneven enough to notice if you were listening for it.

She didn’t give the emotion anything else.

"Don’t riddle me, Revien. Speak plainly."

I stopped in front of her chair and looked down at her. The bracelet rested quietly against my wrist.

"Let’s have sex tonight," I said.

"Help me regulate it."

The words left no room for polite misinterpretation. Not a heated offer or a breakdown like the bitter one on the sofa.

A deliberate request framed around the exact problem everyone kept trying to manage from the outside.

Jenna stared up at me for a long moment.

"You’re asking me to serve as a controlled environment," she said.

"I’m asking you to stop treating the hunger like a theoretical risk we only discuss after it almost hollows someone out. You’re the highest-ranked, highest-compatibility partner I have immediate access to who already knows the full shape of the problem. Help me learn the ceiling before the world forces me to find it the hard way."

[Excellent tactical move, Host.]

[Decision alignment: optimal.]

[High-compatibility S-rank partner under controlled observation conditions.]

[Controlled exposure pathway accepted by Host.]

[Reward issued for proactive regulation-seeking behavior.]
