Chapter 129: Chapter 129: You’re Not Revien, Are You?

"Whatever."

Gianna focused on driving again.

Jenna’s residential block came into view, lights along the private bay, the familiar silhouette of the tower where regulation sessions and careful mornings lived.

She slowed for the drop-off lane.

I didn’t open the door.

I sat with the engine’s low roar in the cabin and the dash lights blinking through their idle cycle, and I turned toward her.

"Don’t," she said.

"Don’t what?"

My hand lifted and fixed a loose strand of her hair behind her ear.

Blue tip against my fingers. The anchor channel pulled tight.

"You said—"

"I said what?"

My voice stayed low.

"You say so many things, Gia. You have no idea how much your words affect me, do you? Why do I have to keep myself in check when it’s you? Why can’t I assume every smile you give me is an invitation to kiss you breathless?"

"Because assumptions get people hurt."

"So do gaps."

I didn’t move my hand away from her jaw.

"You told me not to offer my death. You told me my place was beside you. You signed a form that put your name next to mine and then ordered separate homes like paper was the only thing we were allowed to share on filing day."

"Board scouts—"

"Are not in this car."

Gianna’s breath left her in a short, frustrated sound.

"You’re impossible."

"You’re the one who asked what I was and then kissed me instead of answering."

"That was—"

"Reassurance. I know."

My thumb brushed the line of her cheek.

"I’m done pretending reassurance is enough for the hour after we both signed. If you want me out, say it clean. If you don’t, stop driving me to thresholds and expecting me not to notice you stayed in the lane."

Her hands left the wheel.

She moved across the cabin like a decision finally outrunning caution, one knee over my thighs, weight settling into my lap, the long seat and the tinted glass turning the drop-off lane into a sealed pocket of Sector 7.

Her mouth found mine hard, no tactical pause, no waiter, no record.

I caught her waist and pulled her tighter.

The kiss was fierce from the first contact.

Her lips parted against mine; my tongue slid into her mouth and met hers in a wet, deliberate tangle that had nothing left of sponsorship language in it.

She tasted like the restaurant’s spice and the heat of a day spent extracting markers.

A small sound escaped her when I angled deeper, hand at the back of her neck, the other splayed at the small of her back under her jacket.

"Rev—"

"Still here," I said against her mouth, and kissed her again before the warning could become distance.

Gianna’s fingers fisted in my hair and at my collar, pulling me up into her as she rolled her hips once by instinct, the contact sending a clean spike through the anchor channel.

My tongue traced the edge of her teeth, then stroked against hers slower, denser, until the fierce edge turned hungry and precise.

Saliva mixed. Breath shared. Her breasts pressed against my chest through fabric; I could feel the race of her heart where our bodies stacked.

She broke for air and came back immediately, lips swollen, kissing me open-mouthed and deep like she had argued with herself the whole drive and lost on purpose.

I sucked lightly at her lower lip, then claimed her mouth again, explicit and unhurried now, tongue stroking, tasting, mapping the inside of a kiss we had been rationing for days.

[Primary anchor sync: Spiking]

[Arousal markers: mutual — Elevated]

[Absorption pathway: Dormant]

[Host presence: Intact]

"Good," I murmured when she gasped. "Stay with me."

"I am—don’t narrate."

I laughed once into the kiss and felt her smile against my mouth despite herself.

The cabin windows held the bay lights as smears. Outside, the tower waited. Inside, Gianna straddled me and kissed like thin ice was a place she had decided to stand.

When we finally parted, her forehead rested against mine, both of us breathing hard, mouths wet, the dual filing suddenly less like paper and more like a fact sitting in the body.

"You’re not dropping me at the door like a delivery," I said softly.

"I noticed." Her voice was rough.

"This doesn’t change the review clause."

"I know."

"Or Rei."

"I know."

"Or the sealed brief."

"Gia."

I cupped her face again.

"I’m not asking the car to solve the academy. I’m asking you to stop pretending the only safe version of me is the one that never assumes you might want to be kissed breathless after you put your name on my slate."

She closed her eyes for a second.

When she opened them, the red was dark and clear.

"You always do this, Gia," I said.

My hands were still at her face. Her weight was still in my lap.

The cabin still held the wet heat of the kiss like a third presence.

"Whenever I ask something hard, you kiss instead of answering. And when I take the kiss as the answer, you step back and make me think I made a mistake."

Gianna’s fingers traced my jaw, slow, deliberate, not pushing me away.

"The kiss was the answer."

"Was it?"

"I want to do this all the time too."

The admission landed without armor. No review clause or board scout. Just her voice in a sealed car in Jenna’s bay.

"Glad you’re being honest," I said.

"Rev..."

"Hmm?"

"Give me your chain."

"Huh?"

"The chain. Your weapon."

"Gia—"

"Just..."

She swallowed.

"Please."

I didn’t know why she was asking.

The request sat wrong and intimate at the same time, a combat tool offered in a moment that had nothing to do with drones or markers.

I formed a spatial chain anyway, blue-white links condensing from my palm into a short length she could hold without a full binding sequence.

She took it.

Her fingers closed around the ethereal metal.

The moment her skin met the construct, her essence in my body spiked, primary anchor flaring like a wire gone live, not arousal alone, something deeper and more invasive, a two-way pressure I had only tasted at the edges before.

[Primary anchor channel: Forced feedback]

[Warning: Target accessing Host emotional residual through bonded construct]

[Host regulation: stable — Pathway dormant]

My breath still came even.

Hers did not.

"I haven’t told you this," Gianna said.

She kept the chain in her hands like evidence.

"But ever since I formed as a primary anchor to you again, I can feel what you feel. Not thoughts. Not clean language. Pressure. Direction. I can see your fears. Your doubts."

Her eyes held mine and did not blink.

"And most importantly, a regret."

My breath hitched.

The cabin suddenly felt too small for Sector 7, for every careful sequence Jenna had drilled into me.

"You’re not Revien, are you?"
