My Succubus Harem System In The Reverse World
Chapter 111: I Won’t Erase Her to Make the Story Simpler
Chapter 111: Chapter 111: I Won’t Erase Her to Make the Story Simpler
"Why would I listen to you, Revien?"
Rei’s voice came through sharp and flat.
"I only want your power. Not you."
I didn’t interrupt.
The line held the words without a softener, without the playful edge she used on the mat when she wanted a reaction.
This was the clean version.
"That’s true," I said after a moment.
"For now. Anything can change."
A short, humorless breath on her end.
"You’re talking as if you would choose me over Gianna."
"I won’t."
The answer left too fast to dress up.
Silence stretched after it, long enough that I almost checked whether the call had dropped.
When she still didn’t speak, I filled the gap myself, quieter.
"I also won’t not choose you. You’re already in the work. I’m not going to stand here and pretend the sessions, the residual, the way your core answers mine, is nothing just because the primary place isn’t yours. It isn’t a ranking speech. It’s the fact of what’s already happening."
Another beat of quiet.
Then her voice returned, stripped of performance.
"Whatever. Just come for training tomorrow. I hate stupid dramas like this."
The call cut.
I lowered the phone and sat there in the dim apartment until the screen went dark in my hand.
After a while, I changed out of the clothes that still carried training sweat and the faint ghost of her blood constructs, pulled on something clean, and ended up on the sofa facing the door.
The same door Gianna had come back through like someone losing an argument with herself. The same frame she had left without a word after putting her essence back into the empty place in my core.
It was good that she knew now.
The thought arrived without comfort attached.
Lying by omission, letting the vacuum hold while Rei and I accumulated contact under the polite label of training, had already cost more than a clean, early conversation would have.
I couldn’t keep selling the fantasy that I would only ever keep one person in the structure this world and this class demanded.
Dual registration was allowed.
And there are eight more I have to work with.
The system’s network objective didn’t care about neat monogamy. The academy wouldn’t either.
But I would keep her by my side.
That part wasn’t a slogan for the system.
It was the stubborn remainder after every optimization prompt and every efficient recommendation to treat emotional dependency as a bottleneck.
Gianna had been the first person to tell me I belonged somewhere.
The anchor channel she had shoved back into place tonight still hummed with anger and want and fear and decision.
I wasn’t going to treat that as a temporary buff. I closed my eyes and spoke toward the quiet.
"Can I remove a candidate?"
[You cannot. Once a target is registered to the Ultimate Objective network slate, removal is restricted.]
"But you gave me a choice to remove Gia before. The essence prompt."
[That option applied only to Host-core emotional dependency and anchor inside your system. It didn’t delist her as a network candidate. Candidate status and internal anchor status are separate ledgers.]
I rubbed the bridge of my nose.
"Explain it without the ledger language."
[Gianna Everheart is classified as a high-value, high-ceiling candidate. Her latent trajectory under sustained Host influence projects among the strongest available in current sector data. She was elevated onto the formal slate because Host emotional dependency crossed the threshold and created a stable primary-anchor pathway. That combination is rare. She is not treated as interchangeable.]
"And Rei?"
[Rei Lawless shows rapid developmental response and escalating attachment patterns toward Host. Those factors qualify her as a valid candidate. If her favorability drops below the viable threshold and Host possesses a replacement of equal or greater projected utility, substitution becomes available. Until then, she remains listed.]
"So Gianna is locked in because I cared enough to make the system notice. Rei is locked in until the numbers or the alternatives change."
[Simplified, but directionally correct.]
I let my head fall back against the sofa.
The ceiling was the same blank surface it had been the night I almost accepted essence removal.
Sitting with the restored anchor- volatile, partially synced, voluntarily reasserted- felt better than the clean empty slot the system had once offered as mercy.
"You pushed me toward her when the dependency looked like inefficiency," I said.
"Now you’re telling me that same dependency is why she’s irreplaceable on the slate."
[Conditions updated when Host refused severance and target voluntarily restored the channel. Strategy follows capacity and residual integrity.]
[Earlier recommendations prioritized short-term fragmentation risk reduction. Current recommendations prioritize long-term network resilience.]
"Convenient."
[Accurate.]
I opened my eyes and looked at the door again.
Tomorrow I would show up.
Daytime work. Clear terms. No vacuum for anyone else to fill with uncaptioned files.
Night training only when the conditions were mine to set, not when someone tried to catch me at the lowest point of a day and call it care.
"System."
[Yes?]
"If I hold both of them on the slate and the academy bracket allows two, what does failure look like beyond the apocalypse timer?"
[Interpersonal fracture cascading into reduced synchronized capacity. Primary-anchor instability elevating Host regulation load. Secondary-candidate hostility reducing voluntary exposure quality. Network progress stalls. Cascade risk rises.]
"So the world ends faster if I handle the people badly."
[Correct.]
I almost smiled at the ceiling’s indifference.
"No pressure."
[Pressure is constant. Host response is variable.]
I stood, crossed to the kitchen, and drank water that tasted like nothing.
The bracelet sat quiet and green against my wrist.
Fracture Step idled in my legs. The upgraded chains waited like extra tendons. Pheromone Trace dispersed its low bias into an empty apartment that didn’t need seduction coverage.
I set the phone face-down on the counter and spoke one last time into the quiet, more to myself than to the interface that never really slept.
"I won’t choose Rei over her."
The system didn’t argue.
[Acknowledged.]
"And I won’t erase Rei to make the story simpler."
