Yang Chen took the stool handed over by Dazhu and sat down, looking at him.

Dazhu also sat down and offered Yang Chen a cigarette.

Yang Chen waved his hand, indicating he did not smoke.

Seeing this, Dazhu stuffed the cigarette into his own mouth, lit it with a snap, and took a deep puff to calm his nerves.

Once he steadied himself, Dazhu slowly began to speak.

"This matter starts from last week..." Dazhu slowly said.

The story goes back a week.

On that day, Dazhu just went out to the fields to work as usual.

While working, Dazhu saw Liu Erdan rushing out of the cornfield, holding a bag that was bulging with stuff.

Since he had previously bought medicine in town, he knew Liu Erdan, who sold pesticides and fertilizers there.

Liu Erdan was startled to see Dazhu, grabbed his things, and was about to run, but he stopped and glared at Dazhu, as though he might act.

Dazhu kept asking him what he was doing, but Liu Erdan didn’t answer.

Finally, Liu Erdan suddenly said to Dazhu, "Brother Zhuzi, I’ll tell you a secret, but you must not tell anyone!"

Dazhu became interested upon hearing this and asked, "What secret? Hurry up and tell me!"

Liu Erdan said, "I found a cave at the foot of the mountain. From inside the cave, I entered a tomb passage, where there are lots of treasures. If you want to get rich, just go and take them! What I took out this time, I’ll share one with you, but you must promise not to tell anyone I’ve been inside or taken anything. Okay?"

Dazhu had heard that antiques could sell for big money, so he agreed immediately.

However, when Dazhu tried to find the cave, he couldn’t locate it at all and felt that Liu Ergou was deceiving him, so he gave up.

At least he still had one thing in hand, which gave Dazhu some comfort.

Unexpectedly, just a few days later, someone came to collect items, and they exchanged them for a large color TV, which delighted his family.

After hearing all this,

Yang Chen frowned.

"You say Liu Erdan told you there’s something that can enter the tomb? Are all the items in his possession taken from inside? Did you see what those things were?" Yang Chen asked with a furrowed brow.

Dazhu shook his head, "He kept them in burlap sacks, so I couldn’t see what was inside. When he gave me the item, he kept it from me, acting mysteriously."

Yang Chen furrowed his brows, looking outside the courtyard.

After a short while, Ye Xin returned.

Ye Xin walked over and whispered a few words into Yang Chen’s ear.

"Already fled?" Yang Chen frowned.

He hadn’t expected that Liu Erdan had already escaped!

"That’s right!" Ye Xin said in a low voice, "But there’s still an accomplice who hasn’t escaped. I’ve already sent someone to capture him!"

Yang Chen looked at Ye Xin with doubt, "That person was too greedy and wanted to gather the remaining antiques to take them all at once, so the escape was delayed."

Upon hearing this, Yang Chen sneered internally.

Throughout history, many greedy people have existed, attempting to swallow what is beyond their means.

Even now, such people are still numerous.

Yang Chen turned to Dazhu and asked, "Where did your village’s Uncle Liu get his items?"

"That’s my second uncle. I told him about it, but I don’t know where he got them either," Dazhu said.

Upon hearing this, Yang Chen stood up immediately, pointing at Dazhu, "Don’t go anywhere now, wait here for me! Otherwise, if you flee, you’ll face additional charges!"

Yang Chen said to Ye Xin, "Contact Yang Cao immediately and have him send people over!"

Meanwhile, the two of them strode toward Dazhu’s second uncle’s house.

Liu the Second was an old bachelor, having been too poor when he was young with no one to support him, so he never found a wife.

Seeing Yang Chen and Ye Xin heading to Liu the Second’s house, many villagers followed along.

"Liu the Second!" Upon entering, Yang Chen’s imposing manner subdued the opponent as he sternly asked, "Did you exchange an antique for a refrigerator the day before yesterday?"

"Who are you? What’s the matter?" Liu the Second, being an old rogue, was startled by Yang Chen’s demeanor but his hooligan nature allowed him to maintain his composure, cocking his head and asking Yang Chen.

Yang Chen snorted coldly and said to Liu the Second, "I’m from the city bureau, investigating this matter specifically. Let me ask you! Did you use an antique to get a refrigerator? Also, I’m warning you, I just came from your nephew Dazhu, he has said everything. If you confess honestly, everything will be lenient; if you refuse to confess and lie, everything will be severe!"

Upon hearing this, Liu the Second looked at the other people’s expressions and realized Yang Chen was telling the truth.

Immediately, Liu the Second dropped to his knees with a thud and wailed, "Spare me, officer! I’m just an old farmer who doesn’t know anything. If I’ve done something wrong, take this refrigerator back, I don’t want it anymore, is that okay?"

Truly a family, with moves and expressions almost identical.

Yet, Liu the Second was still acting shamelessly.

The deed was done, and returning the item would resolve everything?

"I’m asking you!" Yang Chen stared at him, "Where did you get the items from? Confess truthfully!"

Liu the Second hesitated.

Seeing this, Yang Chen said coldly, "You can choose not to speak, but my people will soon arrive, and once the investigation is done, you won’t escape!"

Upon hearing this, Liu the Second panicked and quickly said, "I’ll speak! I found the cave; it connects to a large tomb inside, filled with many things, and... I just took a few items out."

"A few items?" Yang Chen sneered coldly, staring at Liu the Second and asked coldly, "Speak the truth! Exactly how many items?"

"Thirty items! It’s thirty items! I exchanged one, and there are twenty-nine left!" Liu the Second hurriedly said.

"Where are the items?" Yang Chen asked.

"They are hidden in the house."

Yang Chen glared at him, "Take us to see them!"

Liu the Second obediently took them inside the house and retrieved all the antiques from under the bed.

As Liu the Second mentioned, there were twenty-nine items in total.

After inspecting these items, Yang Chen said, "Take us to see the cave!"

"Then follow me!" Knowing he couldn’t escape, Liu the Second could only comply and led them out of the village, heading toward a direction at the foot of the mountain.

This location was exactly where Dazhu mentioned, except he hadn’t found it at that time.
