Yang Chen threw over two skewers with a backhand, "Eat first! BBQ doesn’t cook that fast! Why’d you guys come so early?"

The two each grabbed a skewer, opened a beer and said, "What patrol? In this desolate wilderness, who’s around? Just these two are enough!"

Yang Chen chuckled.

This was because there was no oversight, they’re directly cut off from higher-ups, which indirectly caused them to become lazy.

It takes a year to learn good habits, but only a day to learn bad ones!

Once Yang Chen finds this kind of misconduct, this team is doomed.

Yang Chen gave Dongzi a look.

Dongzi caught on, stood up and said, "Come on everyone, let’s drink! This is so boring, not even a woman around!"

The two laughed heartily and downed a bottle with Dongzi.

"Refreshing!" Dongzi laughed heartily, "Where are those two guys? When are they coming?"

"Forget them, let’s fill up first then we’ll talk!" Clearly, this team wasn’t very harmonious.

"Alright then!" Yang Chen responded, "Let’s grill first, once we’re full, we’ll go bring those two over, you guys rest a bit more."

"Alright!" The two agreed readily.

Yang Chen and Dongzi exchanged a glance and nodded slightly.

After a few rounds of drinks, Dongzi, with just his mouth, had the two drunk to a slightly tipsy state, and they were quite excited, starting to brag.

Seeing the grill was about done, Yang Chen got up and said, "We’ll go switch shifts, you guys keep grilling!"

"Alright, you go ahead!" The two waved at Yang Chen and Dongzi.

The two grabbed their gear and left.

Walking out of the rubbish pile hill, they looked around and saw the silhouettes of the other two patrolling.

"Over there!" Dongzi pointed.

Yang Chen whispered, "Don’t let it slip later, just act a little drunk!"

"Got it! Leave it to me!" Dongzi winked at Yang Chen.

Yang Chen helplessly acknowledged, knowing Dongzi surely meant mischief.

The two also saw Dongzi and Yang Chen, and came up immediately, "Are you here to switch shifts?"

"What shift? The day crew are all sleeping, who’s switching?" Dongzi blurted out.

The two heard this, slightly pursed their lips, and dared not speak.

Seeing this, Dongzi was even more certain.

This six-person team truly wasn’t harmonious, these two didn’t fit in with the other four, and were obviously bullied.

"Can’t do anymore! I drank a bit too much, gonna find a place to sleep!" Dongzi said.

Yang Chen also said, "Same here, too sleepy!"

Seeing this, the two ground their teeth in anger.

"You little bastards!" One couldn’t hold it anymore and was about to charge up.

The other quickly held him back, clearly more temperate, urged, "Don’t say a word! Keep patrolling!"

Seeing the effect was about right, Dongzi scratched his chin and said, "Alright, I can switch shifts for you, but this..."

Dongzi rubbed his fingers together.

The two exchanged a glance, snorted coldly, and took out a few packs of cigarettes and handed them to Dongzi.

Dongzi was somewhat disappointed, unexpectedly their most precious possessions were these.

He put them in his pocket, laughed, "Alright, you head over there! Just by the rubbish pile hill, everything’s grilled, and there’s beer, drink a lot, you’ve worked hard these days!"

Yang Chen observed the two glancing gratefully at Dongzi.

Indeed, after being oppressed for too long, even a small favor felt monumental.

After sending the two away, Yang Chen and Dongzi immediately made their way to the mine.

The mine was deep, requiring a good walk to see the light. Otherwise, the light here would have attracted people already.

Once inside, there were surveillance cameras.

After sneaking past them, the two took out radar equipment, starting to scan the mine.

The scan couldn’t be interrupted, requiring about an hour, Yang Chen had to ensure nobody disturbed Dongzi during this time.

After settling Dongzi, Yang Chen went out to patrol.

He needed to appease the people outside, after all, within an hour, anything might happen.

Coming outside, Yang Chen continued patrolling while examining how many hidden paths there really were.

This mine had been abandoned for decades; now in use, money was surely spent on renovations; it shouldn’t be underestimated.

Approximately four or fifty minutes later, Yang Chen saw two people returning from the rubbish pile hill.

Yang Chen hurried over, it turned out to be the two that went earlier.

"Why’d you come back? Didn’t you drink more?" Yang Chen asked.

One replied, "No, we just came over to see if you need a switch."

Yang Chen immediately said, "No need, I’m all set, you play around, tonight’s on me!"

"Where’s old four? Really got drunk?" Another asked.

Yang Chen smiled, "Exactly, no idea what’s up with his drinking capacity today, it’s so low!"

The two laughed heartily, "Probably pent up these days, too much of that!"

Yang Chen laughed along.

"Alright then, we’re heading back, thanks for tonight!" The two said.

Yang Chen quickly took out two packs of cigarettes from his pocket, handing them over, "Have fun!"

The two laughed, "Old four really is a thief that leaves nothing behind! Even got all this good stuff from those guys!"

After chuckling and sending them away, Yang Chen checked the time, and immediately headed for the mine.

Entering the mine, Dongzi had already come out.

Dongzi made an OK gesture to Yang Chen, then both stepped out.

Dongzi whispered, "It’s a signal blocking area here, I need to go out and send the scan map, then let them come over! We’ll coordinate inside and out!"

Yang Chen nodded, "Leave this to me, you go!"

Dongzi nodded slighty, crouched, and quickly ran out.

Yang Chen continued guarding here.

He needed to stay here, just in case, preventing any unexpected issues.

The signal blocking area wasn’t small, Dongzi running out took about half an hour.

Once the base received the message, processed it, and came over, it would also take about half an hour.

Yang Chen quietly calculated the time.

And adding the fact the four people by the rubbish pile hill didn’t have good relations, wouldn’t have much to talk about, likely not staying too long.

Yet, just as Yang Chen was calculating time, a gunshot suddenly echoed from the rubbish pile hill!

"Damn!" Yang Chen’s heart raced, he hurriedly ran over.

Bang bang!

Two more gunshots.

When Yang Chen rushed up, four people were facing off.

Yang Chen immediately shouted, "What the hell are you doing!"

"Old three, don’t stop me today! I’m gonna kill these two bastards today!" One shouted.

Yang Chen heard this and clicked his tongue internally.

If he really wanted to kill them, would he just be ranting here? Would’ve acted already!

Clearly, this guy wanted Yang Chen to step in and play the peacemaker.

Yang Chen naturally ran up like a mediator, "We’re all brothers, what’s happening here!"
