Chapter 666 - 353: So... Evil God Is a Monster Too?! (Part 2)

"Retreat!"

Raine's combat power completely shocked Talin Association President Osber.

Osber pressed his left hand to his forehead. Though he had just taken less than ten percent of the total damage, the sheer magnitude still left him lightly injured; right now his head felt like it was splitting open.

Not knowing the true depth of the enemy's strength, as a Legendary High Tier caster, he naturally wouldn't choose to stay and fight a battle he wasn't sure of winning.

Raine quickly glanced at the four identical Balrog Flame Demon icons in his sixteen-slot bag. Joy flashed in his heart as he immediately looked at Osber and said calmly:

"Leaving already?"

Swish—before the words had even fallen, Raine charged at Osber at extreme speed.

He had just checked: there were still five seconds left on Emperor's Hammer's thirty-second burst. Of course he had to squeeze every drop out of it.

Osber, meanwhile, flicked his hand, and the black swirling canopy he'd cast in the sky—the Imprisonment Array—began to dissipate.

Obviously, he was about to teleport out.

But at that moment, Leonore's pair of deep lake-blue eyes blinked at the side. She raised her staff and pointed at the sky; in the next instant, as the black canopy vanished, another blue canopy appeared above.

It was Leonore's own Imprisonment Array.

This forced Osber, who had just started casting Teleportation Spell, to stop. He lifted his head slightly, looked at the fast-approaching Raine, and said with an ugly expression:

"This is the path you chose yourselves!"

Osber produced a black statue of a slightly bowing figure, clasped in devout prayer.

As he spoke a short syllable, black light flared wildly from the statue and shot straight up into the sky.

The level of this energy was clearly extremely high; even Leonore's Imprisonment Array couldn't block it at all.

The next instant!

A colossal, towering black-robed figure appeared in the sky, seated upon a throne of black vines, one hand with all five fingers clearly visible, the other encased in an iron gauntlet that shone with a silvery-gray metallic luster.

"A phantom of the Divine Beings!"

Raine's face grew solemn as he looked ahead.

This Death God phantom was not something he was seeing for the first time, but compared to the phantom White Mann had summoned back then, this one was obviously far more solid and distinct.

He didn't know whether this was due to the difference in strength between the summoners, or because Death God Bane had further recovered his power.

Either way, it wasn't good.

"Black Monarch... I offer you all the battle-souls of this fight, all the awe of those who kneel... I beseech your descent..."

With Osber raising both hands high, face flushed with excitement as he loudly chanted his prayer, everyone present felt an overwhelming pressure emanating from the throne of vines in midair.

"The god is getting up!" a Transcendent from the Talin Association shouted in excitement at the side.

The hundred-meter-tall Death God phantom rose from the throne of vines and lifted that silvery-gray metallic iron fist toward Raine.

The fist was so enormous that as it swung down from the sky, it was like a colossal iron hammer being smashed downward.

In that instant!

Raine's pupils shrank. His entire field of vision was filled by that single iron fist, as if the whole world he saw right now had shrunk down to nothing but this incomparably gigantic fist.

He was fighting against the heavens and earth themselves!

"Thump! Thump! Thump!"

His heart pounded like a war drum. The veins on Raine's neck bulged; his face flushed, and his slightly reddened eyes stared up at the sky.

"Isolation Divine Power!"

Whoosh!

An invisible ripple spread out from Raine as the center, covering a radius of a hundred meters.

Suddenly, the Death God phantom froze in midair like a golem puppet whose power had been cut off, locked in that downward punching pose.

"Great Lord of Darkness..."

Everyone could still hear Osber's fervent, high-pitched prayers in their ears, but as if some connection had been severed, with the divinity pressure gone, that loud yet futile chanting now sounded strangely grating and noisy.

"Boom!!"

Raine himself was drawn taut like a bowstring pulled to its limit. He raised Emperor's Hammer high with both hands and smashed it down onto that house-sized iron fist gleaming with silvery-gray light.

The sound was like glass shattering, echoing in everyone's hearts.

The massive fist in midair instantly fractured with countless cracks, which then rapidly spread along the forearm, upper arm, and up toward the main body of the black-robed phantom.

"Crash!!"

Like a towering statue completely breaking apart, the Death God phantom formed of Divinity Energy vanished, leaving behind only a myriad of sparkling motes scattering through the sky.

"Clack!"

At that moment, with the thud of steel boots on the ground, Raine dropped back to earth from midair.

The thirty-second strongest Special Effect of Emperor's Hammer in his hands had completely run its course; to get it back again, he would have to wait three full days.

When Raine lifted his eyes to look at Osber again, he saw that the man was already completely panicking; his aura had withered, his gaze was unfocused, and he was even stumbling when he walked.

"This is impossible!"

"How could Divine Power be isolated… this is impossible!" Osber said in a shattered voice.

"Chirp~"

Raine gave his right arm a shake, and the Warhammer in his hand shot out like a meteor, blasting toward Osber's staggering, fleeing figure.

It seemed to be a side effect of summoning the Evil God; Osber couldn't even cast a Teleportation Spell. The instant he turned his head, his forehead was struck squarely by the Warhammer!

"Smack!!"

The headless corpse of Talin Association President Osber stumbled once, then collapsed limply to the ground.

At this moment, the scene was so quiet a pin drop could be heard.

"Huff~ huff~"

Raine panted heavily.

In these thirty seconds, his stamina had almost been completely drained.

The Talent Ability "Speed of Lightning Level 2" from the Divine Abomination bloodline was insanely useful, but the stamina consumption that came with it was downright terrifying.

But thinking about it carefully, it made sense. If someone could have near-constant Instant Teleportation-like speed with very low Energy consumption, that would be way too broken.

Raine shook his head slightly, tossing these stray thoughts aside. He glanced around and found that the Transcendents of the Talin Association around Lilith's position were now fleeing in a blind panic.

There were no Talin Association members left who could resist.

This made Raine let out a sigh of relief on the spot.

'I just killed four Balrog Flame Demons, and with the Balrog Flame Demon bloodline I got before, that makes five in total. I should be able to fuse them into a higher-tier Flame Demon bloodline, right?'

With excitement in his heart, Raine's gaze quickly shifted to his sixteen-slot bag.

'Huh? It's full!'

'This is!'

All of a sudden!

Raine's eyes widened as he stared in shock at the last icon that had appeared in his sixteen-slot bag.

Wasn't that towering black robe seated on the throne of black vines exactly the Death God's projection from before?

'So… Evil Gods count as monsters too!'

For a moment, the joy of having collected five Balrog Flame Demon bloodlines was completely overshadowed by this greater surprise. Raine froze for two or three seconds before coming back to his senses, a look of wild delight on his face!

He hurriedly checked it:

[Death God Bane Bloodline (Extremely Crippled)]

—Contains 2% Divinity, can block a small number of Instant Death effects

'Divinity??'

'Extremely crippled?'

Possessing Mortals Level 1 (Extremely crippled, only a small portion of the effect remains): You can possess the body of a mortal and gain full control of it. After that body dies, you can transfer into another body nearby that you can touch.

(Note: Currently can only possess those below Transcendent, duration one day.)

Instant Death Iron Fist Level 1 (Extremely crippled, only a small portion of the effect remains): When your right hand touches a target, the target will immediately suffer one Instant Death Attack. If they cannot pass a Death Spell save, they will die on the spot.

(Note: Currently can only trigger a minor injury effect.)

Form Deformation Level 1 (Extremely crippled, currently no effect)…...

....

'What a pity, only two abilities are usable, and even then they only retain a small portion of their effects.'

Even as Raine was overjoyed, he couldn't help feeling a bit regretful.

'Instant Death Iron Fist, that was that punch just now? No wonder it felt completely unavoidable.'

'Instant Death Spell—if you can't block it, you just die.'

Seeing this description, Raine felt a chill in his heart.

Because from the looks of it now, if he didn't have the Divine Artifact Emperor's Hammer, then even with multiple Monster Skills stacked on him, he would probably still get one-shot by a Divine Being.

'But now, I've at least got a second layer of defense.'

Raine's gaze drifted again to that line of tiny text beneath the icon—"Contains 2% Divinity, can block a small number of Instant Death effects."

'So this is the difference between gods and mortals?'

'Since Evil Gods are also monsters, and since their projections can be collected, then if I fuse five of them together, 10% Divinity should be able to block a lot of Instant Death Attacks, right?'

'Right, then… can projections of different Divine Beings be fused together?'
