Chapter 186: Fourth Undead

  • Next Chapter

After talking with his parents for a while, Kaiser returned to his room and decided to test his comprehension of the Shattered Soul Rule.

He sat down on his bed and closed his eyes, focusing on the new power within his soul.

Unlike mana, Rule energy was much more difficult to control. It was closely connected to the laws of the world, and understanding it required more than simply absorbing energy.

Kaiser carefully examined the Shattered Soul Rule, trying to understand its nature.

However, after spending some time studying it, he realized that making progress wasn’t as easy as he had expected.

By the time he finished his first attempt, his comprehension had increased by only 0.5%, bringing it to 1.5%.

And it took his whole night.

Kaiser opened his eyes and checked his progress.

’It seems this won’t be easy.’

He had hoped that his powerful soul would help him comprehend the Rule more quickly, but the results were still rather disappointing.

After all, his soul was far stronger than that of an ordinary person. Being a reincarnator had given him certain advantages, and spending a hundred years in the trial world of his class had further strengthened his soul.

Even so, comprehending a Supreme Rule was an entirely different matter.

’Perhaps I should ask someone who has more experience with Rules.’

Kaiser considered his options before deciding to contact his teacher.

He took out his communication device and called Abigail.

The call connected after a few seconds.

"Kaiser? Is something wrong?" Abigail asked.

"No, Teacher. I wanted to ask you something about Rule comprehension."

"Oh? Go ahead."

"I’ve been trying to understand the Shattered Soul Rule, but my progress is slower than I expected. Is there a way to increase my comprehension more quickly?"

Abigail chuckled softly.

"You’re probably trying too hard to understand the Rule through meditation alone, aren’t you?"

Kaiser paused.

"Is that a problem?"

"Not necessarily, but it isn’t the only way. Rules represent the laws of the world, and sometimes the best way to understand them is to experience their effects directly."

She continued, "For example, if you want to improve your comprehension of Shattered Soul, you should fight opponents while using the Rule. Try to understand how its power interacts with their souls, how it affects your attacks, and what happens when your Rule energy clashes with another person’s power."

Kaiser listened carefully.

"So, I should focus on using the Rule in actual combat rather than simply sitting around and studying it?"

"Exactly. Meditation can help you understand its nature, but combat allows you to experience it under pressure. Both methods are useful, and combining them will often produce better results."

Abigail paused before adding, "You can also fight opponents who have comprehended Rules of their own. When two Rules clash, you’ll be able to experience their differences directly. That might help you understand your own Rule more deeply."

Kaiser nodded, even though she couldn’t see him.

"That makes sense."

"Of course, don’t get reckless. You should fight opponents who are strong enough to challenge you without putting your life at unnecessary risk."

"I understand. Thank you, Teacher."

"You’re welcome. We will be doing something similar at the academy, so you will learn more when you arrive today."

After ending the call, Kaiser thought for a moment.

"Hmm, it might be the training Teacher was talking about."

"Though I can also ask my undead to train with me," he thought.

He had plenty of undead under his command, and some of them were powerful enough to help him test his new Rule.

"Selene, Rachel, and the Corpse Lord have all comprehended Supreme Rules as well. They should be able to help me understand mine better," he mumbled.

’Perhaps I can arrange a few training battles.’

[Your new undead is ready to be born. Please bring it out.]

Kaiser froze for a moment before realizing what the notification meant.

"Oh, it’s almost time," he mumbled, having been so focused on his training that he had almost forgotten about it.

He immediately took out the egg containing his new undead.

[Undead Creation Successful.]

[Genesis of Death has affected the creation.]

[Life from death begins anew.]

[Congratulations! You have created a Legendary-Rank Undead: Shadow Sovereign.]

[Shadow Sovereign: A Greater-Class Undead born from the fusion of a Shadow Drake’s essence, Wraith energy, and the power of Death.]

[Your creation has obtained the Talent: Shadow Thief Monarch.]

[Unique Core detected: Thievery Core.]

[The Thievery Core has been integrated into the creation’s spiritual body.]

[Multiple unique ability structures have been stabilized.]

[Class has been generated.]

[Skills have been generated.]

[Your creation has awakened.]

[Cosmic Sheet is now available.]

Kaiser carefully read through the notifications.

"Shadow Sovereign?"

He looked toward the woman standing inside the fading magic circle.

She appeared to be in her early twenties, with long black hair that faded into silvery strands near the ends. Her skin was pale, and her eyes were a deep violet with faint silver rings around the pupils. Whenever she moved, the shadows around her body seemed to follow her like a second layer of clothing.

She wore a fitted black outfit with silver patterns running along its edges. The clothes were light and flexible, clearly designed for movement rather than defense. A pair of short blades rested at her waist, but Kaiser could barely sense their presence despite looking directly at them.

Her figure was slender, and her movements were so quiet that even the floor beneath her feet made no sound.

However, the most unusual thing about her was not her appearance.

It was her presence.

Kaiser could see her clearly, yet his senses struggled to recognize her as a living entity. Her aura, spiritual fluctuations, and Death Mana were all concealed beneath several layers of suppression.

Even though she stood only a few steps away, she felt as if she were somewhere else entirely.

Kaiser narrowed his eyes.

’Advanced Stealth Structure, Shadow Fusion, Wraith Body, Spiritual Concealment, Absolute Presence Suppression, High-Speed Shadow Movement, and a Thievery Core.’

’All of them were successfully created this being.’

His expression changed slightly as he recalled the final notification.

’The Thievery Core is especially surprising. It should be an advanced structure that normally requires considerable mastery of the art of thievery to develop. Yet she was born with one.’

A Thievery Core was more than a simple ability. It was a special structure that allowed its owner to understand and interact with the underlying principles of theft. Depending on its development, it could help the owner steal physical objects, magical energy, and even things that ordinary thieves could never touch.

Kaiser had not expected his new undead to possess such a rare structure from the moment of her creation.
