My Professions Have Too Much Personality
Chapter 665 - 360: The Ancient King Retreats from the World, the Morning Star Reigns Supreme
"What is that thing?"
Seeing the wispy dragon emerge from Qin Yun’s body, many people looked astonished. Wei Zhenghong’s expression was initially somewhat excited, but it quickly turned into confusion. He could also see that this wispy dragon wasn’t heading toward Su Chen.
"Why is it heading for the tower? Is this thing blind?" he grumbled in dissatisfaction.
Sheng Huaixu and the others also wore expressions of bewilderment as they watched the wispy dragon drift into the tower. Immediately after, a purple light flashed across the two remaining virtual screens. Before anyone could see clearly, the Hanhai Emperor had already raised his hand.
A rather dazed and miserable figure, who seemed to still be dodging left and right, suddenly appeared in the air above, coiled by a small purple dragon.
"Xiao Linfeng? It’s actually him." Sheng Huaixu furrowed his brows deeply. How was this man better than Su Chen?
Even though being overshadowed by Su Chen made him a bit uncomfortable, he couldn’t help but wonder at this moment. He wondered, "Why are the Spiritual’s choices so strange?" The Spiritual indeed had preferences, but that usually only applied when the gap between candidates wasn’t too obvious. The gap between Su Chen and Xiao Linfeng was simply massive. In terms of age alone, they were nearly twenty years apart. To skip Su Chen and pick Xiao Linfeng instead... He wondered, "Could it be that this Spiritual prefers the elderly?"
However, there was no limit to the number of people a Spiritual could recognize. Even if it preferred Xiao Linfeng, how could Su Chen possibly fail to gain its recognition?
Despite his myriad of doubts, Sheng Huaixu couldn’t help but secretly breathe a sigh of relief. Out of pure jealousy, if Su Chen had not only become the Star Leader but was also chosen by the Spirit of Sun, he would have felt even more awful about it. Right now, he actually felt much calmer.
"What is that thing?" The distant spectators were also quite confused.
A more knowledgeable person among them hesitated before saying, "It looks like the phenomenon of being recognized by a Spiritual."
"A Spiritual?"
Those who heard this were shocked. Only those at or above the Morning Star Tier were qualified to be called a Spiritual.
"What does that mean? Has Xiao Linfeng also become a Star Seed?" some speculated, their imaginations limited to the Morning Star Tier.
Closer to the tower, an old man with flying hair and a beard looked ecstatic, unable to suppress his excitement. "Feng’er!"
Xiao Linfeng was still a bit dazed. It took him a moment to react. He looked around before his gaze sharpened, landing on the wispy dragon coiled around his body.
He wondered, "Could it be... I’ve been recognized by the Spirit of Sun?" His heart skipped a beat. However, having held out against the King’s Shadow for so long, his vitality was depleted, making it difficult for him to muster any intense emotional fluctuations.
He wondered, "Is it really just one dragon?" He frowned deeply. Although he knew that even after being recognized, he would most likely just serve as a tool, he still held a tiny sliver of hope regarding the Sun Tier. But the appearance of this single dragon shadow truly extinguished those hopes. This level of recognition was simply too low; it was nearly impossible for him to become a Chosen One.
Glancing over, he noticed a virtual screen not far away. Han Xingliu was still struggling to resist.
He wondered, "The winner hasn’t even been decided yet, and I was dragged out just like this. How will the position of Star Leader be awarded?" Xiao Linfeng hesitated. The numerous rewards for becoming the Star Leader were crucial to him. Even his family couldn’t get their hands on those resources.
He couldn’t help but speculate, "Could there be better rewards after being recognized?"
Sensing eyes on him, he looked down. He thought, "Sheng Huaixu and Luo Yao have already come out. As expected, they are still a step behind me..." He wondered, "But what’s with their expressions? Why do they look so suspicious and scrutinizing?"
Xiao Linfeng noticed the strange looks on Sheng Huaixu and the others’ faces. This group hadn’t lasted as long as he did against the King’s Shadow, and he had just become someone recognized by the Spirit of Sun. He should be receiving looks of envy, jealousy, and resentment.
He secretly scoffed, "Do they think I shouldn’t be recognized?" His Talent surpassed theirs, and his strength surpassed theirs. They were in no position to question him.
Then, he noticed that the crowd was standing rather close together, forming tight circles. In the center was Su Chen, who looked quite calm. He thought, "It’s not surprising to see Su Chen. He definitely couldn’t have lasted until the end, but this formation is a bit strange..."
Although confused, Xiao Linfeng didn’t overthink it. He was just a little surprised—did Su Chen not get recognized? By his estimation, their chances of being recognized should have been about the same. Although he was very reluctant to admit it, Su Chen actually had a slightly larger advantage than him. After all, Su Chen was very young. And youth was always more likely to win the favor of a Spiritual.
He wondered, "Perhaps he is still lacking in some area?" Even as he thought this, he felt a hint of secret delight. The position of Star Leader had yet to be decided, but he had already gained the recognition of the Spirit of Sun. This was a form of acknowledgment in itself.
Right at that moment, the wispy dragon coiled around him gradually retracted into his body. His body floated out of his control, drifting toward the highest platform. Xiao Linfeng took a deep breath to steady himself. He soon landed in front of the Ancient Kings and was just about to raise his hands in a salute.
However, he heard the Zhenwu Ancient King speak bluntly, "How could it be you? There’s nothing special about you at all."
"What do you mean?" Xiao Linfeng was slightly taken aback. Only then did he notice that the eyes of the Ancient Kings flickered with the exact same suspicious and scrutinizing look as Sheng Huaixu and the others. They didn’t show much joy in finding a recognized candidate. "I don’t understand what you mean," Xiao Linfeng said, somewhat confused.
"It’s nothing," the Zhenwu Ancient King shook his head. He had just asked in passing. There really was nothing unusual about this Xiao Linfeng. With his Dual Divine Dawn Talent, his age, background, and strength, everything he achieved was to be expected.
Xiao Linfeng didn’t receive the treatment he expected and was feeling somewhat bewildered. Faintly, he heard a voice drifting up from below: "How bizarre. Could it be that this Spiritual prefers older people?"
