My Professions Have Too Much Personality

Chapter 584 - 321: The Sun’s Plot

Elevating a Postnatal Talent to the Divine Dawn Level was likely without public precedent in the Dust Star Sea. If word of this got out, it would attract an unimaginable amount of attention.

’But since the Royal Court is also trying to raise Talents to the Divine Dawn Level, it means that it should be possible for a Postnatal one to achieve it.’

As Su Chen was still considering the possible repercussions, he suddenly had a realization. ’I already have enough inexplicable things about me. One more or one less doesn’t seem to matter.’

Even if he did break through to the Divine Dawn Level and word got out, it didn’t seem like it would change the situation he was facing at all.

’When you’re covered in lice, you stop itching. I’m already being targeted by who knows how many people; this is just one more reason for them to come after me. My safety depends on the Ancient King, not on myself.’

’As long as the Ancient King remains powerful and protects me, others will have to restrain themselves, no matter how much they covet what I have.’

’Conversely, if the Ancient King’s protection were gone, I’d be a target even if I only had the status of a Star Seed with no other secrets, just like when I first arrived at the Bronze Sect.’

Realizing this, Su Chen felt a wave of clarity and decided not to dwell on it any longer.

’In the end, it all comes down to a lack of strength. But growth takes time.’ Su Chen shook his head, expertly took out a Potion from the Holy Cauldron Sect, and downed it.

CRACKLE! POP! His body grew hot, his skin turning crimson. He could clearly feel the efficiency of his Body Refining Meditation Method increasing significantly.

’Becoming a Vajra Venerable counted as three additional professions, so my development efficiency should stack by another 150%. Even though they’ve been fused into a Holy Profession, the Purifier’s blessing is still based on the number of professions before the fusion.’

Su Chen made a quick estimate, then opened his panel and glanced at it. There were two professions he had yet to take.

They were Cauldron Maker and Healing Sage. The former needed no introduction. The latter was the fourth in the sequence for the Lan Family’s Phoenix Holy Profession; it focused on healing injuries and was quite useful.

’Cauldron Maker requires collecting an Earth Core, Starfall Sunken Iron, and a Desolate Dragon’s Heart—all of which are quite precious. The Flawless Crystal and Dust of All Things needed for Healing Sage, on the other hand, aren’t as rare...’

’As for the requirements of surviving in the Restless Abyss and observing the healthy and damaged states of a thousand different objects, I can probably complete both at the same time with the help of the Creation Copper Heart.’

After thinking it over, Su Chen had a rough plan for his job changes. ’I wonder if I can purify the mid-level Fog Ashes now. It’s probably a long shot. My burst power is strong, but its duration is too short.’

’If I can raise my development progress a bit more, fuse the Permanent Body to cover my weaknesses, then I should be able to do it.’

Golden lightning and crimson fire roamed around him like living creatures. The scorching temperature distorted the air, making it shimmer like boiling water. A clear, crisp sound, like shattering crystal, echoed from within his body, and Su Chen’s figure gradually faded from view.

...

「Meanwhile, at the Qin Family estate in Copper Heart.」

Qin Yun’s figure suddenly appeared in the courtyard, immediately drawing the guards’ attention. After recognizing him, they hurriedly greeted him with respect, "Venerable!"

Qin Yun did not react. The guards’ gazes subconsciously fell upon the white-shrouded object following behind him.

The people stationed or working here were no ordinary Professionals; the thin white cloth could hardly obstruct their vision.

They saw the face of the person beneath the cloth at a glance—a person whose eyes were shut tight.

"That’s...!" The guards’ faces filled with horror as they stumbled back several steps in disbelief.

Qin Yun still showed no reaction, simply walking forward with a blank expression.

"Venerable..." A meticulous butler came forward to greet him. His gaze swept over the scene, and his face instantly turned pale. "Is that Young Master Tianlin? How could he..."

The butler trembled all over, stammering, unable to speak.

Qin Yun still didn’t respond, simply taking Qin Tianlin’s body back to his room.

BANG!

The door closed. The white cloth fluttered to one side, revealing Qin Tianlin’s face, still faintly twisted in agony.

An invisible ripple washed over his features, causing them to soften and become peaceful.

Qin Yun’s gaze fell, and a dull ache throbbed in his chest. This was the grandson in whom he had placed such high hopes, and now he was just a corpse...

"Black Tuo!" Since finding Qin Tianlin dead, this was only the third sentence Qin Yun had uttered. His gaze was frigid and ruthless.

He truly couldn’t understand why a Great Deceitful God like Black Tuo would suddenly make a move against Qin Tianlin.

On the way back, he had even suspected Fan Zhao, because Fan Zhao had previously been involved with the Black Tuo Divine Son.

’Just what...’ Qin Yun took a deep breath and pressed his right index finger to his temple. Filaments of light seeped from under his skin, coalescing into tadpole-shaped runes with serrated halos. The runes then sank into his brain.

A muffled groan escaped Qin Yun’s throat, his expression twisting in pain. His fingertip trembled. As he pulled, a wisp of purple flame was slowly drawn from his temple, coming to rest before his eyes.

The purple light flickered. It was no thicker than a finger and looked as if it could go out at any moment.

Qin Yun gasped for a few breaths and cupped his hands. A torrent of symbols flooded into the flame. It slowly unfurled in his palms, its edges taking on an iridescent, glass-like sheen.

As the torrent of symbols poured in, the flame grew larger, yet its core became increasingly faint, almost transparent.

Suddenly, the flame trembled, and a voice abruptly sounded from within it. "I knew you would contact me."

The voice emanating from the flame was identical to Sun’s.

Qin Yun, however, was in no mood for pleasantries. His voice was cold and urgent as he demanded, "What in the world happened? Why would Black Tuo attack Tianlin?"

"I’d like to know that myself," Sun replied bluntly.

"Wasn’t this your doing?" Qin Yun demanded. "Why was Tianlin suddenly able to defeat He Muyang? Don’t tell me that was his own strength."
