Chapter 2995: Chapter 997: Even the Longest Night Will Welcome the Dawn (Part 3)

"The siege of Charldo Harbor has been lifted. Next, we’ll send the warriors to clear the area around the city. After this stage ends, we will head north with the Pioneer Army of the Goldenrod Kingdom to completely crush the last evil chieftain, Gehrman Bonebite, on the Ligurian Peninsula."

"By then, this Black Disaster will be over completely."

"Only the end of the main battlefield, Murphy."

Lord Paryen was uncharacteristically exhausted, not just because of a night’s fierce battle, but because of Murphy’s incredibly outrageous Midnight Resounding Aura, which had just driven him into an uncontrolled rage. As everyone knows, emotions like anger consume a considerable amount of personal energy, leaving the lord utterly drained with the Wrath of Darkness. Now, he just wanted to find a place to sleep.

He leaned on his Holy Spear, speaking hoarsely with closed eyes:

"The spread of the Wolf People on the Ligurian Peninsula is already a foregone conclusion. Plus, at Gorgon Mountain Pass and the entire Hungry Plains, there are marauding remnants of the Black Disaster everywhere.

It would take at least five years to restore the Ligurian Peninsula area to its previous peaceful state. Moreover, the damage to the Half-body Man cities is severe, and rebuilding Charldo Harbor will take several years as well.

The Half-body Men face a difficult period ahead.

Although we will provide full support, ultimately, it’s their land, and they must also embrace the changing situation on the continent with a more open attitude... I heard from Triss that you had a fight with the Scholar in the underground area of the city?"

"That’s a bit hasty to say. To be precise, that guy came here to seek death."

Murphy snorted and recounted to Lord Paryen what had happened in the Land of Creation · Computing Unit, saying:

"Old Bach’s consciousness and soul encoding are complete. He is now truly a data lifeform, storing himself in the biological information database of the Life Greenhouse. This means he has achieved ’immortality’ and ’eternity.’

No matter how many times we kill him in the material world, it won’t work unless we regain control of the Life Greenhouse and completely delete him and his resurrection program from the Creator’s database.

Ah, these henchmen of Twilight, they indeed have their ways; they’re all true talents.

We’ve already seen the Origin’s madness, the Scholar’s strangeness, and the Slave Master’s downfall. Now I’m genuinely curious about the demeanor of the Monk Leader, who serves as the leader, and the ’Nun,’ who hides within human civilization."

"It doesn’t matter, Murphy. They may seem formidable, but every battle you fought against them ended in victory, proving that you’re their nemesis."

Lord Paryen looked at the Fierce Sun radiating light and heat in the distance, softly saying:

"Do not fear those lurking in the darkness. They may bare fangs and claws in the shadows, but once illuminated by a ray of light, all shadows will vanish without a trace.

Let’s go, back to the city.

The troubles on the battlefield have been settled for now, but there are still many things that need our attention."

"You go ahead; I’ll wait for Triss and go with her."

Murphy replied, and the lord nodded, summoning Aurora, and disappeared into the sunlit earth. The Vampire Lord looked back at Triss, who was wielding the Solar Blade high in the sky, casting spells to summon Heavenly Fire, cremating foul corpses.

As he admired his wife’s majestic demeanor, a hoarse voice sounded behind him:

"Murphy?"

"Yes."

The vampire turned back to see Old Edward, speaking in a gentle tone:

"Nice to meet you, Duke Wolfsbane. I haven’t thanked you for the two sets of leather armor you sent me. I really like them. Your craftsmanship is unmatched, and I happen to have some fur from the Silver Wolf Herson that requires your skillful hands."

"I can make things anytime. I just have a question."

Old Edward’s gaze lingered on Murphy’s War Marshal attire for a moment. The Bloodline Duke with a complicated past looked into Murphy’s eyes and asked:

"You’ve heard stories about me and Constantius. I ask you, do you think Constantius is still alive?"

"Are you seeking an answer from me, or just wanting me to support your search that has lasted for millennia?"

Murphy asked.

Old Edward didn’t reply, just stared at him.

Duke Wolfsbane had already learned Murphy’s true identity from Lord Paryen. He needed Murphy to give him an answer in his capacity as an administrator, even hoping for this specific answer.

Facing Old Edward’s wait, Murphy pondered for a moment and honestly said:

"I don’t think she’s dead, but I lack evidence. I feel that lady surely left herself a way out, and you are a key part of it. Unfortunately, neither you nor I know her exact plan."

"That’s enough."

Edward let out a sigh of relief and said:

"If someday we can save Constantius, may I expect your... support?"

"Of course! I would be delighted to serve my predecessor and also hope to hear some truths from a thousand years ago from Lady Constantius."

Murphy said:

"Although Blood Vulture and Wolfsbane are adversaries, entangled like braids, on this matter, you can trust my promise. I’m not making this promise as Count Cadman, but as the Chosen One of the Creator God."

"That’s good."

Duke Wolfsbane got the answer he wanted. As he turned to leave, he tossed a rolled-up map to Murphy, who opened it to find the defense map of the Kato area and the specific structure of the Doroed Fortress Group.

"When Transylvania is ready to reclaim the Kato area, be sure to contact me."

Old Edward waved without turning back, saying:

"I don’t care who ultimately claims the Kato area. I have one condition: ensure the interests of the Wolfsbane Clan are protected there. Within this premise, everything is negotiable. This is my sincerity, Chosen One of the Creator God.

Consider it an early gift for Constantius’s return.

If given the chance...

I will invite you to attend my wedding with her."

With that, Duke Wolfsbane quickly disappeared before Murphy’s eyes and into the finally arriving dawn. Bewildered, Murphy looked at the map in his hand and couldn’t help but exclaim:

"We don’t even know if she’s dead or alive, and you’re already planning a wedding? Damn, where did you buy that positive mindset? I’d love to get some for myself too."
