Chapter 2943: Chapter 980: The "Miracle" of the Mechanical Church – True Overlord Learning Machine (Part 2)
If you want to forget those pieces of knowledge that didn’t come from your own studying, then finish eating all of it.
You must remember, there are no shortcuts when it comes to learning!
Even if you choose to keep those infused theories and techniques of mechanics, you still have to completely master them through constant practice. Otherwise, with time, your brain will still forget those foreign things.
"Who would want to keep those dangerous things!"
Dust Beater hugged his girlfriends tight and said angrily:
"Why did those evil Half-body Men invent this harmful crap?"
"No, it wasn’t invented to harm people in the first place..."
Master Minks still wanted to explain, but when he saw the miserable look of the two foreign girls in Dust Beater’s arms, all his words were forced back down his throat. He shook his head and said:
"Leave this place. Although I’m sure this ’knowledge into the brain’ symptom won’t endanger your health, it’s better to find a Psychic and a healer to help nurse you back. On behalf of Charldo Harbor, I apologize for what you two have suffered.
Before you leave, the Steam Lords will prepare compensation for you."
After speaking, Master Minks shot Murphy a look, then stepped aside. Murphy personally escorted Dust Beater and the members of the Stonemason Association out, then came back to the old Half-body Man’s side, just in time to hear him whisper:
"The ’Wisdom Enlightenment Machine’ hasn’t been used in a long time. In my memory, the last time it was used on a large scale was forty years ago, when a civil strife broke out in the Mechanical Church and the two factions fought it out in the city sewers for control.
To bolster their own forces, they went up to the surface to entice people from the outer city to join them, then used the Wisdom Enlightenment to turn them into qualified mechanics.
However, even within the Mechanical Church, which worships pragmatism, this kind of ’knowledge infusion’ is regarded as heresy. The Mechanical Church, just like us orthodox mechanics, reveres the purity of knowledge. Unless absolutely necessary, they wouldn’t use this ’desecration of truth’ to add manpower.
So right now, I have more than enough reason to suspect that the Mechanical Church must be plotting some major operation.
I have to take a trip down into the sewers and go see their stronghold with my own eyes."
"Then let’s go together."
Murphy was also very interested in that so‑called miraculous "Knowledge Infusion Machine". He invited Minks to join him, and under the players’ guidance and protection they entered the sewers again, walking once more along the paths littered with the wreckage of Mechanical Beasts the players had destroyed, heading toward the captured stronghold.
All the way, Master Minks’ apprentices whispered among themselves.
"Wow, the combat Mechanical Beasts have already been iterated up to the seventh generation? Look at their distributed power modules and high‑output mechanical claws. Stuff like this would count as advanced topics even at Shaldo University.
How did these sewer rats manage to keep up with cutting‑edge tech?"
"I heard some rumors that our university has always had spies from the Mechanical Church stealing our knowledge. Some people talk about it like they saw it with their own eyes—supposedly the top ten in the whole academy on every exam every year are all Mechanical Church plants!
What decent kid could digest that much terrifying knowledge in such a short time?
And full marks in every subject... how could that be a normal person?
I have every reason to suspect those top students are definitely tied to the Mechanical Church. They came to school with missions on their backs, that’s why they’re so diligent and serious. When everyone else is out having fun, they’re still burning the midnight oil."
"Hiss... going by what you’re saying, doesn’t that mean our old dean is... I heard every exam he ever took from childhood to old age was a perfect score!"
"Ah come on, I said it’s just a rumor. Don’t you dare talk nonsense! The old dean holds grudges... I really don’t want to flunk any courses this year."
Conversations like this couldn’t possibly slip past a vampire’s senses—especially after being blessed by Lady Rose, his perception in dark places was razor sharp. He shot a strange look at Minks, who was walking beside him, cane in hand, the latter’s face impassive.
But those fingers gripping the cane tight showed that he actually knew perfectly well how these youngsters talked about him behind his back.
"Sorry you had to hear that."
Minks spoke in a low voice, his face still stiff:
"We Half-body Men are like this. When the pressure’s high we love to talk nonsense, and the higher the talent, the more flighty the personality. Senior Brother Feilun and I were the same when we were young. It’s fine though; flunking a few courses wakes them right up."
"Your educational traditions are downright terrifying."
Murphy curled his lip and said:
"But would you be interested in setting up an affiliated college of Shaldo University of Craftsman on Transylvania soil? Professor Malcolm has already submitted that request to the Steam Lords several times. Now, in my capacity as Governor, I’m formally extending an invitation to you. If you go, the authorities can provide generous subsidies.
Honestly, I’d be very willing to trade away the generous rewards the Steam Lord Council gave the Expeditionary Army in exchange for getting this plan carried out.
Our land has been barbaric for far too long; we’re in desperate need of some knowledge and wisdom to guide us."
"I heard the Crimson Regent you appointed is an outstanding graduate of Shaldo University’s School of Administration?"
Minks turned his head and asked. Murphy nodded and said:
"Half a year ago, Milian was still just a dropout, but when I was walking through the university city just now, I saw the School of Administration’s honor roll of outstanding graduates by the roadside. She’s already on it, and ranked quite high.
From the series of excellent qualities Milian has displayed, I can be sure of Shaldo University’s rigorous scholarship and excellence. You Half-body Men really are the civilization that values education and the inheritance of knowledge the most—it honestly makes me jealous."
