Chapter 2940: Chapter 979: Urgent! What Should I Do If My Wife Turns Into a Rubber Lady? (Part 2)
"Tch, it only looks intimidating, but when it cuts, it’s not as powerful as the Jackalman General!"
The Great Shark spit to the side, tossed the wetware core, shaped like a fish tank and smeared with some black oil, up and down in his hand, and turned to his brothers behind him, saying:
"Who knows what this thing is?"
"Uh, for the sake of your mental health, I think it’s best you don’t know."
Ayu, who often surfed forums and loved reading text-heavy storylines, looked at the Great Shark with disdain and said:
"Put that thing down, playing with dead people’s brains, isn’t it disgusting!"
"Whoa!"
The Great Shark shivered, instantly throwing out the already inactive wetware.
The thing rolled on the ground, and one could hear the sound of water flowing from it as it gurgled away, then Little Wei Ming shot it, and a strange green liquid leaked out, along with some white brain-like stuff.
"Yuck~"
The Great Shark immediately turned and retched, while "Lady Shui" hurriedly covered Little Wei Ming’s eyes, annoyed by Little Potato’s meddling.
Why did he have to fire that shot?
Before knowing the truth, "wetware" was just a task term that players didn’t focus much on, but after seeing it firsthand, players finally knew what it represented. Some relatively innocent players began whispering about their Transylvania Dragon knights, saying these automatic machines were also used as autonomous cores.
Damn!
Looking at it this way, the taste of "corrupted technology" struck hard.
"Those bastards actually used this thing to drive mechanical beasts, obviously it’s not something good! Brothers, follow me, let’s raid this corrupted organization’s lair!"
After recovering, the Great Shark pulled out the axe lodged in the mechanical beast’s armor, and shouted as he led a group of warriors charging in the direction the mechanical beast had come from.
Although he was a follower of Boss Wam and indeed very wild and frenzied, he wasn’t a sadistic berserker. The Great Shark and the Wam Brothers Society players enjoyed the purest combat fun, using humans for wetware was obviously beyond their acceptance.
Thus, the Great Shark was furious, and some players with a sense of justice were also indignant.
Especially the Rushing River Knights Group’s tin cans, the most authentic role-players always have a stance, not to mention, Holy Light was in a formative stage, and their role-play behaviors naturally have a very subtle impact on the birth of the God of Faith.
Players sprinted through the sewer, and the people of the Mechanical Church seemed to panic.
As they approached the mechanical kingdom border, more and more strangely shaped mechanical creations were released to block the enemy, even mechanical octopuses hidden in the sewage appeared, yet couldn’t stop the players’ advance.
Those mechanical octopuses, which could serve as small bosses for five-man instances, were forcibly blasted into a pile of scrap metal by over thirty Burning Gold Iron Fist missiles.
Having defeated that, other, more clichéd mechanical beasts were even less of a threat. Previously, these things were enough to scare off the "explorers" on the ground, but to foreigners spirits heroes who’ve seen plenty of bizarre creatures, they were a piece of cake.
After all, they genuinely slew a divine spirit, and there weren’t many things on this land that could frighten them.
"Ahead! The terrain up front has been modified, hiding a sealed space! Definitely something’s up, such terrain shouldn’t exist in a sewer plan."
After several breakthroughs, the bloodshot Dust Beater pointed at the "dead-end" ahead and said to the brothers:
"They’ve used camouflage, but breaking this wall can let us advance further. Analyzing the path, this should be where those Mechanical Church members are gathered, but likely not the main base. Be careful when moving, my two wives might still be inside!"
"Got it, brother, leave it to us."
Dwarf Locus Firehammer in the team patted Dust Beater’s leg. Mainly a Dwarf Battle Axe wielder but a part-time Shaman, he formed a Dharma Seal, calling on Mother Earth’s name, and with a swoosh, he led warriors including the Great Shark, Niu Niu, and Brother Cat into the underground, advancing towards the hidden chamber.
Players jokingly called the Earth Walking Technique "Tuxingsun Battle Method," and here, dwarves were called by that name.
Fortunately, the self-respecting dwarves of this world didn’t know what Tuxingsun represented, or there’d be a diplomatic incident.
Though the Earth Walking Technique was a bit weird, it really worked well. Even through the closed wall, players could hear screams, weapon clashes, and fierce explosions on the other side. Minutes later, the noise stopped and with the sound of mechanical gears, the closed wall slid upward.
Amidst the chaos, Niu Niu beckoned to Dust Beater and said:
"They’re inside, unharmed and not bullied, go check on them quickly; their situation is a bit strange..."
"What?"
Dust Beater first felt joy, then was startled, immediately grabbing his gear and rushing in.
He was greeted by the sight of defeated Half-body Men and some humans with mechanical prosthetics lying all over a super-complex underground mechanical factory, along with some unfinished mechanical beasts and various firearms on weapon racks.
Under the gas lights overhead, players could clearly see the full view of this underground laboratory. With the sewer background outside, it indeed had the vibe of a "mad scientist’s laboratory."
