Chapter 2932: Chapter 976: Operatives from Another World in Action (Part 3)
The pocket formation is set.
"Let’s talk on the side, okay?"
Brother Prodigal rubbed his hands and said:
"We also care about face, let’s resolve it privately and give each other some face, okay?"
"Hmph, you seem alright, come on!"
Baldy gestured with his hand, leading his brothers to "escort" the two outsiders into an alley. Before he could speak, Brother Prodigal’s expression turned serious as he lifted the lady’s pendant and asked Baldy:
"Where did you get this? Where are the Pallian Sisters now? Speak honestly, or you’ll lose your life!"
"Damn!"
Upon hearing Brother Prodigal ask about the Pallian Sisters from the get-go, the bald man immediately sensed trouble. He drew a short knife, ready for a fight, but with a bang, a bullet shot from the other end of the street hit his knife, shattering the blade which landed at his feet.
The wall-hopping slacker in the distance chewed gum expressionlessly as his eyes glimmered with green hawk-like light, pulling the bolt of his gun to continue aiming. Other brothers flooded the alley, and Vampire Players flapped their wings from above, sealing all escape routes for this group of street thugs.
Seeing themselves surrounded by a murderous group of outsiders, these punks were scared to the bone.
The dark gun muzzles and gleaming blades instantly robbed them of their will to resist, the leading bald man shaking as he crouched and clasped his head on the ground, a pose that suggested he had often been "entertained" by Half-human City Guard Officers.
"I’m asking you for the last time!"
Brother Prodigal held the pendant in his hand, coldly reprimanding:
"Where are the Pallian Sisters?"
"They’re missing."
The bald man trembled as he spoke:
"A few days ago... we intended to send them back.
They’re important figures, not to be trifled with. We even brutally punished those fools who tricked them in front of them, reaching an agreement, but they vanished that night...
I swear, we didn’t harm those hostages... no, those noble ladies!
I really didn’t do it!
Spare us!"
"Are you joking? You lured two living people here, and they vanished in your territory?"
Mustard micro-fool knocked the bald man on the head with the butt of his pistol, scolding:
"Do you think we’re idiots? Or do you find your joke amusing?"
"What the brother said is true."
A nearby Half-body Man gangster screamed:
"I delivered hot soup to the ladies that night, and they advised us to turn over a new leaf and start afresh in Transylvania. But half an hour later, when I went to deliver fruits, they were gone.
They must have been taken by those sewer crazies!
Just like before, those guys emerge at night, taking away many people."
"What? Sewer crazies?"
Brother Prodigal caught onto a critical point, asking:
"Explain clearly, what is in the city’s sewers?"
"Mechanical... the Mechanical Church!"
The Half-body Man seemed to be talking about something forbidden, speaking in fear and lowering his voice:
"A bunch of crazed machinery worshipers formed a rebellion against the Steam Lords when the Ligurian Peninsula was invaded by the Wolf People. But the Wolf People came too quickly, and Lower City District soon fell, ending their rebellion.
But they must still be in the sewers.
It is their Mechanical Kingdom, I don’t know why they’d take the Pallian Sisters, but there was indeed a sewer entrance near their room... I’m honestly not lying to you, many people outside the district know about the Mechanical Church.
The Steam Lords labeled them as heretics, forbidding us from associating with them."
"Is there anyone among you familiar with the sewer layout?"
Brother Prodigal and Chike exchanged a glance and immediately asked:
"Find someone to lead us, and your sins will be dealt with leniently afterward."
"No one dares to go there, boss."
Baldy, his face bloodied, shouted:
"Those who went never returned, it’s been years. We only dare to do business above ground, never venturing below. It’s their territory, not even the usually arrogant City Guard Officers dare to go. Charldo Harbor appears ruled by Steam Lords, but everyone knows they only handle matters above ground.
No one dares help you in this matter."
"Prodigal, Loyal Brother has arrived."
The gum-chewing slacker shouted beside them.
Minutes later, a large group of aggressive veteran players arrived, rampaging like street-cleaning tigers. Seeing the pendant in Brother Prodigal’s hand, the Dust Beater turned red-eyed, brandishing his measuring staff and swinging indiscriminately at the punks, only to be held back by Niu Niu.
Losing your temper won’t solve anything now.
Upon hearing Brother Prodigal’s explanation, the veteran players were dumbfounded too.
The good news is the ladies are unharmed. The bad news is why is there an "Underground City" here in Charldo Harbor? It’s almost like Cardman City’s Crimson Castle disaster period, just unsure if there’s a Rat Gang-like side story.
"The Mechanical Church... Old Flywheel used to be a member!"
Little Ruyi, who tagged along with the veteran players, quickly shouted:
"He even told me stories about that faction; indeed, their influence in Charldo Harbor’s underground is immense. These bastards aren’t lying. But Old Flywheel is still in Transylvania, we can’t summon his ’former leader’ to assist us."
"Find his apprentice then."
Little Wei Ming flapped his wings while hovering in air, animatedly speaking to the players:
"Old Flywheel’s apprentice is the current head of Shaldo University, His Excellency Minkus. They even dueled over a junior sister at a younger age, and according to forum data from the dev team, many veteran mechanics in Charldo Harbor secretly interact with the Mechanical Church.
They possess a peculiar puppet technology, capable of converting brains into robots, which is a form of immortality... Damn, Dust Beater, hold your horses!
Your wife won’t be turned into a robot, I’m just rambling.
Don’t cry!
Damn, Ah Wen, hurry! I’ve messed up."
