Chapter 2918: Chapter 973: The Ancient One’s Love and Hate—The Werewolf Pup and the Auntie

"Bang"

Murphy, in a state of freefall, first crashed into the awning of a street-side house, then spun and hit the ground during this buffer. He should be thankful he wasn’t flying too high and that his relentless training had made his wings strong enough; otherwise, the impact alone would have been a major issue he couldn’t ignore.

But the ancient memories abruptly unfolded before him, with his mind being tugged back and forth between the images, making it very difficult to control his body.

He struggled to stand up but then heard the sharp halting sound of the walking machine stopping abruptly beside him, followed by Captain Paula’s frantic voice speaking into his ear:

"What happened? What’s going on? I saw you fall from the sky. Were you attacked by the werecoyote’s sorcery? Do you need me to find a doctor for you?"

"Hide... hide!"

Murphy fought fiercely against the swirling resonant memories in his mind. He grasped Paula’s mechanical hand and told her:

"Quick! He’s coming."

"Who’s ’he’?"

Paula asked, but seeing Murphy’s "dazed" state, she knew the situation was grave.

She looked around; there were many houses nearby, but if they were avoiding a powerful enemy, there was nowhere to hide here. So, the clever half-body man turned her gaze downward, noticing a sewer entrance just a few steps away.

She helped Murphy, crawling over in a manner using both hands and feet, not forgetting to use her Calculating Pearl to guide her walking machine back to the parking spot before crawling in, to avoid revealing any clues.

Just a few minutes after the sewer cover was put back, Duke Edward Wolfsbane appeared at the entrance of this street, his expression stern as he surveyed the surroundings, his hand resting on the hilt of the Sting of Fear at his waist, eyes narrowed and gleaming with coldness.

In that instant, his ancient memories had surged uncontrollably, making him realize that he was likely subjected to some kind of mental prying, and with the swift reaction of the ancient beings, it led him here.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t fly, and had to run over rooftops with his legs. Crossing a quarter of the city from the city wall to here within a few minutes had already proven Edward’s exceptional physique.

However, regretfully, he was ultimately late.

There was nothing here.

The chaos in the city filled the area with various noises and hard-to-track scents, while the vibrations of the ancient memories were calming down, seemingly indicating the "observer" had already left.

But who could bypass his carefully honed mental barriers of a thousand years to spy on his memories without arousing any suspicion?

This was something even Lord Paryen and his Holy Spear of Judgment and Sanction could not achieve. Could it be another unknown Psychic Master or Dream Infiltrator had infiltrated the city? Or were those shadow-dwelling ones from centuries ago launching another ridiculous counterattack?

Damn these troublesome bastards!

Edward gritted his teeth, turning away in some disappointment, but reemerged like a ghost after half a minute to confirm the observer had already fled. Only then did he return to his residence in the city, rubbing his temples.

This matter could be either trivial or significant...

With Pa Ying being unaware, he likely wouldn’t be in any danger.

But if the adversary informed the Millennium Lord, he might be in for a life of escape, as the Holy Spear Silencer would not listen to his explanations, and centuries of concealment were enough to turn even the best of brotherly ties against each other.

It seemed he needed to make some preparations in advance.

Duke Wolfsbane departed, his next moves unknown for prevention of the worst-case scenario. Meanwhile, in the convoluted sewer systems beneath Charldo Harbor, Captain Paula, holding a Transylvania-produced replica commemorative diamond encrusted half-body ord Coert for courage in one hand, had a high-explosive missile loaded in her other mechanical hand ready for launch.

She examined her foul surroundings with a wary yet anxious demeanor.

Beside her, sitting cross-legged, Murphy searched through his ancient memories, while the Necessary Evil hovered like a snake, guarding nearby, and George, blessed by Old Su Head, lay at Murphy’s feet.

The creature bore a tuft of white hair on its forehead, glowing faintly in the dark, signifying its status as truly the "Wolf of Divine Favor," marked in Old Su Head’s mind.

Murphy was too preoccupied to concern himself with external changes. Old Edward’s situation was unique; Duke Wolfsbane never having lost his thousand-year-old memories meant he never had to encode them into his DNA to pass on information. This made the content of his complete ancient memories unusually intricate compared to other ancient beings.

Murphy could freely traverse these memories, viewing every point where he appeared from Salockdale’s perspective within the enormous records.

Regrettably, even a thousand years ago, the relationship between Old Sal and Old Edward was quite ordinary, making most of these massive records consist of general memories when the ancients shared a room, with little to gain, and only so few images captured with "special methods" being truly informative.

Such as the segment Murphy was observing now.

It was inside the cabin of the "Scarlet Dawn," piloted by Salockdale, with Old Edward lying on the bed in a decidedly undignified posture, gasping under a partially covered blanket with his arms covered in claw marks, clearly having just experienced a "blood battle."
