Chapter 2901: Chapter 967: How Did Going to Provide Support Turn Into Waiting for Rescue? (2)
"Besides, the way fighting works over here isn’t the same as back home. Having too many people doesn’t help."
"Yeah, true."
Five Pairs of Wheels nodded, feeling that Old Qin made sense. The Old soldier of Qing dynasty was even more down-to-earth; he clack-clack-clack reassembled the weapon parts at hand, slapped in a magazine and did a aiming motion, then leaned over to Old Qin and whispered:
"We already handed in all the good stuff, so about those merits and such..."
"You’re already retired, what are you still worrying about that for?"
Old Qin glared at him sidelong and said:
"Shoo, shoo, none of it’s gonna be missing from you. Just do your job properly."
"Heh heh, I knew it. Tagging along with you means there’s meat to eat."
The Old soldier of Qing dynasty laughed and said:
"Then you guys hold the fort here, I’m gonna go take a stroll in the cabin."
After he left, Lord Qin took out a notebook and flipped through the records on it, while Five Pairs of Wheels kept up his observation of the ground. Before long, this sharp chief of staff noticed movement on the black earth below.
Adjusting the observation window on the airship downward, he said:
"Why are the lights over the Brass Fortress Ruins so dense? I think I’m seeing two factions fighting? Since when is this place so lively?"
"It’s only called ruins; doesn’t mean it’s actually deserted."
Old Qin said casually:
"According to intel shared by the Shadow Intelligence Bureau, at present there are at least Followers of the God of Wealth, the Brass Dwarf Guard, Ratman, Wolf People, Gnolls and various other powers in the Brass Fortress Ruins. In that tangled warren of underground structures they each have their own turf and keep waging war on one another.
Every faction has its own goal.
The Followers of the God of Wealth believe those ruins are the Sacred land where a Divine Spirit was born; the Brass Dwarves just want to take back their homeland; the Ratman had nowhere else to go and they gained freedom there, so they feel the ruins naturally belong to them.
The Wolf People and Gnolls are even more straightforward: they’re after the huge amounts of Gold and treasure hidden in the ruins.
Anyway, don’t underestimate that patch of ruins. It’s pretty much the most chaotic area on the Continent right now, and by current projections it’s going to stay a mess until one power utterly crushes all the others."
"Mm, sounds like a lawless zone."
Five Pairs of Wheels set down the optics, thought for a moment, then turned back to Old Qin and said:
"Once the business on the Ligurian Peninsula(Liguria) is wrapped up, should we get involved too?
Before their fortress collapsed, the Brass Dwarves’ stronghold was the richest city on the entire Continent. All that wealth is lying in the ruins now. Even securing a fraction of it would be hugely beneficial to Transylvania’s current economy and development.
And treasure-hunting has always been a favorite pastime for the player crowd.
Right now lots of players have the ’Secret Treasure Hunter’ secondary class. If we take the lead, plenty of people will follow."
"Throwing our elite players in there would be a bit of a waste. The full Continent map is open now; everyone has their own goals and things to do. I think we should let the newbies come instead."
Lord Qin closed the notebook and said:
"The war in Transylvania has settled down, and even in the new frontier, the desolate mountain area, only that group of Baphomet Heretics barely counts as elite enemies. Newbies coming into the game who want to level quickly can only grind dungeons or head to the Dark Mountain Range, but not everyone wants to help Wise Wolf develop his civilization.
For those war-loving little perverts, the Brass Fortress Ruins are perfect right now.
An underground main city riddled with tunnels, enemies, and Gold—it sounds like a perfect leveling zone. I heard the Ruins of the Outwalkers’ Headquarters are about to officially open too; they’re very close to the Brass Ruins and can serve as a new frontline respawn point."
"Makes sense. I’ll hop on the forums and send the dev team a suggestion. If they adopt it, there’s even physical rewards."
Five Pairs of Wheels chuckled, sat down on the chair beside him, and logged into the forums. Lord Qin shook his head and took over his duty of watching the ground and surroundings.
Over a dozen airships formed an aerial formation and, ten-some minutes later, passed over Gorgon Mountain Pass, which had already been reshaped by terrain changes into a straight corridor, formally entering the new map of the Ligurian Peninsula(Liguria).
Unlike the mountainous, barren terrain of the Dark Mountain Range, the southern part of the peninsula is relatively flat.
From high above you can easily tell it’s a plain, and it’s the primary gathering place of Half-body Man civilization. Their largest city and symbol of their civilization, Charldo Harbor, sits in the southwest of this plain, right at the edge of the peninsula.
The terrain there is excellent: not only does it boast one of the Continent’s top deepwater ports, but across the strait lie the Origin Land and the Castilla Peninsula. Sailing out from Charldo Harbor, it takes three days to reach the border archipelago of the Elf Kingdom, and four days to reach the Origin Land. From here, following the sea route northward, you can reach the narrow, winding coastline of the Kato area.
Sailing east from here, roughly half a month at sea will take you past the Dark Mountain Range Area to the Atlantean Deep Sea Kingdom of the Mermaid, and from that Deep Sea Kingdom continuing east will bring you into the waters of the Kalem Ancient Country.
Traveling by land to the Land of the Far East means either crossing Nordtof’s Great Wilderness or going through the Grey Desert of the Dark Mountain Range; both places are extremely dangerous. Taking the sea route is clearly safer and fits commercial logic better. So for many years in the past, Charldo Harbor has been the relay hub maintaining trade and civilizational exchange with the Land of the Far East.
