Chapter 2896: Chapter 965: The Dwarf Marshal Unleashes His Fury! (Part 3)
Lupa responded firmly to Governor Murphy’s claim, and the two sides parted on bad terms.
Subsequently, the Winter Wolf Army and the Wilderness Corps began to withdraw from the Kafuhoka region, and General Baldwin is said to be transferred back to North Wind Castle to receive the rank of Marshal, but the commander to succeed him in managing military affairs in the Kafuhoka region has yet to be confirmed.
However, based on guesses from our friends at the Nordtof court, it is highly likely to be the hawkish Marshal Hilaklio.
In the past, that Marshal’s series of words and actions indicated that he was not satisfied with the Nord only securing the Kafuhoka region, hence it can be deduced that a border conflict between Transylvania and the Nord is only a matter of time.
From what I know of Governor Murphy and his generals, once the other side provokes, they will never back down, and by then, an unstoppable war will erupt between the two countries.
Of course, this event might not happen until the aftermath of the Black Disaster is completely resolved.
After all, at this critical juncture, if the Nord took the opportunity of Transylvania supporting the Ligurian Peninsula to invade, it would put Nordtof in a disastrous diplomatic situation, and that old Marshal wouldn’t be so foolish."
"That may not be the case; the thoughts of war maniacs are not something normal people can fathom."
Marshal Loren squinted, his fingers tapping on the table, then turned the topic and asked:
"So, can you confirm who is leading the troops in Transylvania’s support of the Ligurian Peninsula?"
"Governor Murphy will personally lead the expedition, and this news has already spread throughout the Maginot Line’s command center. General Kudell is reorganizing the command system across the line, so it’s definitely not false."
Fraser explained:
"But Governor Murphy is not adept at battlefield command, so the actual leader should be General Maxim under his command, the absolute leader of the Cadman People’s Army, and also a loyal follower.
Most importantly, Transylvania’s current Undying Spirits will also be participating in this battle, which means their range of activity has finally extended from Transylvania to the outside, according to some foreigners with whom I have good personal relations.
Their group is very pleased with this and claims it’s the beginning of a more glorious expedition.
However, I must remind you, Marshal, this time Transylvania will deploy their naval forces."
"Ah?"
Marshal Loren widened his eyes, and the dwarf said in surprise:
"Transylvania doesn’t even have a seaport, where did they get a navy from? Even in the Posya Confederation’s heyday, they only had a few subpar ships in the ports of the Kato area. Murphy is indeed remarkable, but could he conjure a fleet out of thin air?"
"You overlook another identity of Mr. Murphy, Marshal; he’s not only the Lord of the Transia People but also a Vampire Lord."
Fraser sighed, saying:
"I have confirmed that the Blood Vulture Clan and the Blood Fear Clan have formed a strategic intimate alliance, which means the fleet of Blood Fear Pirates, notorious across the Misty Sea, will become Transylvania’s naval power. Just from the number of the Blood Fear Fleet, we could even say Transylvania has leaped to become a naval power.
Marshal, I know you have some personal issues with Governor Murphy, but forgive my frankness, from the victory on the central battlefield, you can no longer view our neighbor with the outdated mindset.
Moreover, I suggest you submit a recommendation to King Louis concerning our border issues with Transylvania... If possible, I really don’t want to face the Undying Spirits under Lord Murphy on the battlefield.
That would be a downright nightmare for any army."
"But we can’t return East Prussia to Transylvania! Fraser."
Marshal Loren shook his head, saying:
"That area has historically been hard to define, as you know, the Celyon People indeed have strong claims there..."
"I’m not talking about East Prussia, Marshal, I mean the Saxon Region."
Fraser explained:
"That mountain range covered in forests is a complete liability for the Kingdom, the stubborn Mountain People there have always refused to submit to the Kingdom’s order, because during the Ten Years’ War, a series of inhumane actions by the Greeney Army Corps have led them to still attack our troops and citizens to this day.
The numerous pioneering attempts by the Kingdom have all ended in failure, and now, ten years since the war, we’ve consumed too many resources in the Saxon Region.
Even worse, the Mountain Tribe from the Ancestral Groves has allied under the influence of the Avalon faith, they’ve begun quietly supporting the Mountain People in the Saxon Region, and my cunning junior, the Scarlet Regent of Transylvania, Lady Milian, promised the Mountain People that Transylvania would help establish a kingdom solely for the Mountain People in the Saxon’s forests in the future!
Not to mention, due to Wam’s Temple, Transylvania currently maintains a rather close relationship with the Wam Barbarians in Ice Bay.
Transylvania’s diplomats are exploiting our past mistakes, attempting to leave the Kingdom vulnerable on both sides, I can’t even imagine how ’lively’ the border conflicts might become in the future in Saxon, East Prussia, and even the Kato line, engulfing the entire Exploration Corps.
Currently, the Saxon Region has become a quagmire, a constantly bleeding wound, a tasteless and about-to-explode time bomb, rather than just holding onto it, it may be better to return it to the Transia People through diplomatic means.
At the very least, it could gain some diplomatic relief and reduce the likelihood of direct conflict.
The Nord are waiting for us to make a mistake!
Those northerners haven’t given up on their ambition to become the Continent Overlord, but facing the current Transylvania, that giant on clay feet resting atop the Great Wilderness cannot possibly win; Marshal, we can’t repeat their mistakes."
"If it weren’t for knowing your stance, I would think your suggestion is treasonous... Let these things wait until after the war is over! No, you’d better never say such things in front of anyone, it’s good to be patriotic, but as a soldier, one should remain pure."
Marshal Loren shook his head, saying:
"I’m about to lead my troops to the Ligurian Peninsula, and if luck has it, I might actually get to meet Governor Murphy face-to-face. I admit, my previous judgment of him was too hasty; that guy is still a fop, but he’s a courageous and fierce fop.
For sure, I must invite him for a drink if we meet.
But what about you?
Brigadier General Fraser, what plans do you have next?"
"I might return to the Maginot Line to continue holding my post, of course, if you need, I’m also willing to continue to follow you to the battlefield, Marshal."
Fraser had only meant to be courteous, but he didn’t expect Marshal Loren was waiting for this comment all along.
In the stunned gaze of Brigadier General Fraser, the Dwarf Marshal displayed a sly ’ha, I’ve been waiting for this’ expression, immediately deciding loudly:
"Good! Then you shall be my second deputy for this journey, Brigadier General Fraser, I know your father has always wanted you to retire from active duty and take over the family, but you have talent, courage, and luck, the Goddess of Victory favors you, and it’s too early to hang up your boots now!
Come with me to the Ligurian Peninsula for another glorious victory!
Then, return to your hometown covered in glory, don’t leave regrets in your passionate life."
