Chapter 2854: Chapter 952: The Rising Aftermath

The Wolf People’s invasion of the Ligurian Peninsula lasted for a month and a half. This narrow peninsula once boasted of being the world’s prosperous spot, yet when faced with real war, its rapid downfall was incredible.

The Bonebite Clan’s army conquered the area in a manner akin to playing a casual game. A month and a half was only enough for Huggesen to move through the Polluted Swamp and finish the Maginot Line’s skirmishes, yet Gehrman·Bonebite had already occupied most of the Ligurian Peninsula.

Now, its forces had completely taken the road leading to the Misty Sea. With the exception of Charldo Harbor still holding on, all other cities had fallen into the hands of the Wolf People, while the northward assault was slower, chiefly due to the military defense zones set by the Exploration Corps near Lake Xiuerpres.

Dwarf Loren was evidently not planning to huddle in the Kato area awaiting a grueling battle with the Wolf People.

With King Louis’ permission, tens of thousands of elites from the Exploration Corps crossed the Ligurian Peninsula’s border, starting defensive operations along some Half-body cities.

They came at a pivotal moment.

Just as the Maginot Line was ablaze with conflict, the Exploration Corps and Wolfsbane Clan in Kato area began accepting refugees, relocating most of the residents from the northern Ligurian Peninsula to the Kato area.

Although there were objective factors in the advancement of the war, King Louis’ sharp foresight was evident.

Just through this refugee reception and enemy confrontation at the border, over a million people were added to the Goldenrod Kingdom, half of which were skilled craftsmen Half-body Men, and even if only one in ten stayed, Goldenrod would still gain.

Of course, accepting so many refugees also had downsides, such as the rapid deterioration of security in Kato area.

The area was originally densely populated, and accepting so many outsiders sparked local grievances. Moreover, this refugee intake made the Exploration Corps a target for barbarian soldiers from the Bonebite Clan.

King Bite Bone believed that the Goldenrod People were seizing the fruits of victory from it, as so many potential slaves were taken away, making its super victory seem incomplete.

Under such circumstances, Gehrman·Bonebite vented its frustration on the vanguard army of the Exploration Corps. In just a week, there were four major battles involving more than three thousand people each, with three frontline posts established by the Exploration Corps being forcibly taken down. When the Wolf People breached the city, they commenced a massacre, directly causing the Exploration Corps’ losses to reach a staggering ten thousand in just one week.

This meant that unless unforeseen circumstances arose, Marshal Loren’s army was soon going to engage in a genuinely large-scale battle with the Bonebite Clan on the Ligurian Peninsula.

Nonetheless, on this magical continent, wars are invariably accompanied by surprises.

The fall of The Master of Hunting not only turned the central battlefield from peril to safety but also directly affected the western line where the Ligurian Peninsula lay. Gehrman·Bonebite’s rampant army had been detained from any offensive for a full three days.

It’s not that it didn’t want to continue fighting, but the fight couldn’t proceed.

"Are they still in that half-dead condition?"

In a destroyed Half-body city at the peninsula’s northern tip, King Bite Bone’s camp was temporarily set up there, and it was only dawn, but a vexed King Bite Bone began its daily "work."

In an angry stance, it sat on its throne adorned with fresh skulls, asking several trusted Grand Marshals underneath:

"Have the priests found no solutions? Do the Voodoo Priests have no methods available?"

"No, my king."

A Grand Marshal armed with an odd Mechanical Battle Axe cursed with a gloom-filled face:

"Just last night, no fewer than thirty-four Blood Scar Priests chose suicide due to the absence of divine responses. That cowardly bunch, without divine guidance, not to mention fighting, even survival is a mere luxury.

As for the Voodoo Priests, they keep brewing various potions, but they can only heal the soldiers’ bodies, not inspire their spirit.

Our soldiers are as if their spine has been broken; they remain strong and fierce but have lost their purpose and intellect, dazed as though not yet awake. Your trusted aides are somewhat better, but other units are broadly witnessing resistances to battle.

Those scoundrels prefer lying idle in their shacks to standing up to do something, even a whip has no effect."

"The warriors’ spirits have been shattered, my king."

Another old priest from the Bonebite Clan sighed, saying:

"It’s not their fault.

When The Master of Hunting fell, the scene printed itself in each believer’s soul through faith’s connection. Every midnight nostalgia would see the horrible scene flash in the warriors’ minds. We initiated this Black Disaster to aid our god’s rebirth, yet now the deity has fallen.

The warriors’ low morale is just the beginning. If this ’spiritual plague’ is allowed to spread, your army will lose its fighting spirit utterly in no time, and by then, when the opposing Dwarf Marshal leads troops over, these fellows would not pick up weapons; they would only stretch their necks waiting to be slaughtered."

"Bleak, damn! How did the mighty Wolf People become like this!"

King Bite Bone actually understood it all.
