My Perfect Isekai: Pragmatic Protagonist, Progression Fantasy and Strategy
Chapter 96: Sapphire Flames and the Exarch
The descent from the eighty-first to the eighty-ninth floor turned into a showcase of team coordination. The oppressive atmosphere of the lower levels shifted from ancient damp stone to jagged crags of dark obsidian, bathed in a thick, sulfurous miasma that clung to the air. Dave walked in the middle of their formation in his charcoal suit, overcoat draped over his shoulders, hands tucked casually into his trouser pockets. He let Shnee and Karys take the vanguard. Shnee glided across the uneven ground with elegance, her Celestial Silver rapier freezing the joints and mana conduits of incoming constructs with precise frost-lock strikes. At her side, Karys moved like a storm, her basilisk-leather armor flexing as her Abyss Claws and whip-tail tore through dark stone golems, hurling them into basalt walls. Perched on Shnee's shoulder, Kaede tracked the battlefield with sharp senses, calling out enemy movements in English: "Three bladed stalkers at two o'clock, frost their footings, Shnee!" Dave watched like an approving commander, dropping occasional micro-adjustments or subtle kinetic nudges whenever a beast tried to flank them, keeping his hands firmly in his pockets.
By the eighty-fifth floor, the team's synergy was functioning like a well-oiled machine. Shnee's swordwork turned monster charges into brittle ice statues, while Karys shattered them into gravel with heavy seismic claw strikes. Dave observed their footwork, body mechanics, and pacing, noting how their grueling year on the seventy-ninth floor had forged them into an unbreakable frontline duo. When a massive basalt vanguard attempted to crush them beneath a tower shield, Dave didn't even draw a weapon. He simply delivered a subtle telekinetic impulse against the construct's knee joint, collapsing its balance and allowing Karys to sever its core with a single swift strike.
As they cleared the eighty-ninth floor, the final waves of corrupted constructs dissolved into blue dust. The hallway opened up into a massive underground plaza, dominated by colossal double gates forged from iron-studded obsidian. Dave nodded in quiet approval, offering a brief tip on kinetic energy retention during rapid directional changes. Shnee wiped a thin bead of sweat from her forehead and smiled softly, while Karys adjusted her wrist guards, her amber eyes gleaming with satisfaction. They stood together before the final threshold of Floor 90.
The iron-studded gates groaned as they parted, releasing a wave of heavy, crushing pressure that vibrated through the stone floor. The chamber beyond was a vast, vaulted amphitheater lined with glowing purple runes. In the center stood the Floor 90 Boss: the Voidstone Exarch. Six meters tall, the biomechanical titan was forged from dark obsidian, its chest pulsing with a glowing Aether core. Around its body hovered four massive, kinetic greatswords, floating without any physical support.
Shnee and Karys reflexively reached for their weapons, but Dave stepped in front of them, raising his hand. A confident grin spread across his face, his blue-masked eyes flashing with hungry excitement. He cracked his knuckles, his shoulders loosening as his blood began to pump. Finally, an opponent that wouldn't snap like a matchstick.
"Girls, step back to the perimeter," Dave said, his voice laced with pure anticipation. "This one is mine."

Shnee and Karys exchanged a glance, recognizing the bright spark in their leader's eyes, and promptly withdrew to the edge of the arena.
Dave didn't wait. He lunged forward, shedding all casual restraint as he closed the distance. Using Lynx Footwork, he moved in a low, unpredictable zig-zag pattern. The Exarch responded instantly, sending all four floating greatswords whistling through the air in a lethal crossfire. Dave ducked and wove through the razor-thin gaps, steel grazing his suit jacket as he closed in. He landed a rapid combination of kinetic strikes on the Exarch's knees, testing its armor density.
The Boss counterattacked with terrifying speed. Sweeping its massive obsidian arm, the Exarch released a localized gravity shockwave combined with a crushing physical blow.
BOOM!
The strike caught Dave mid-dodge. The overwhelming force blasted him backward through a thick obsidian pillar. Stone shattered into a shower of rubble, and Dave crashed hard into the far wall, cratering the rock face.
He lay in the debris for a brief second. His suit jacket was torn at the shoulder, several ribs clicked out of alignment, and a spray of crimson blood escaped his lips, dripping down his chin.
Slowly, Dave raised the back of his hand and wiped the blood from his mouth. A low laugh escaped his chest, expanding into a broad grin. His eyes blazed with ecstatic joy.
"Now that... that actually felt like a hit!" Dave shouted, his voice echoing through the chamber.
Vaulting out of the crater with explosive speed, Dave activated Sapphire Yomi I. The world slowed in his perception as blue lines mapped the Exarch's attack patterns. Ducking beneath another gravity wave, Dave zipped past the floating swords, using precise Gotai-reinforced strikes to shatter two of the blades into splinters. He slipped inside the Exarch's guard, weaving right up to its towering chest.
Gathering his entire kinetic momentum into a single zero-distance fusion strike, Dave buried his fist directly into the hairline crack in the Exarch's chest armor.
An internal implosion detonated inside the titan's core. The Exarch froze in mid-swing. Spiderwebs of bright sapphire light erupted across its massive obsidian body, cracking the stone from the inside out. With a deafening roar of collapsing energy, the six-meter titan imploded, exploding into a torrential shower of dark crystal dust and glowing blue embers.
Dave stood in the center of the clearing, breathing heavily. His knuckles were bruised, blood stained his collar, and his body throbbed with cracked bones and torn muscle tissue.
He closed his eyes and summoned the Sapphire Flame.
Building on the principles of voiceless magic from his memories, Dave held a vivid mental model in his Soul. He visualized the inversion of thermal energy: instead of oxidative destruction, the flame acted as a catalyst for hyper-mitosis and cellular replication.
Brilliant sapphire flames ignited around his body, wrapping him in a swirling pillar of blue light. The magic worked instantly:
Pathogens, dirt, dried blood, and dead tissue were purified and burned away into invisible ash.
At the same time, healthy host cells received a massive surge of Aetherial stimulation, hyper-accelerating cellular mitosis. Shattered ribs snapped back into alignment with audible clicks, torn muscle fibers rewove themselves, and lacerations sealed up without leaving a single scar.
Within seconds, the blue flames flickered and died down.
Dave stood in the center of the chamber, completely spotless and fully healed. His skin was smooth, his posture restored, and his body felt lighter than ever. He casually dusted off his trousers, straightened his collar, and adjusted his tie.
Turning toward Shnee and Karys, who were standing near the entrance with wide eyes and open mouths, Dave offered a relaxed grin.
"Now that was a proper workout," Dave said, sliding his hands back into his pockets. "Loot the core, girls. Let's head back to the manor."
