Chapter 94 - 68: Green Daily Life
Chapter 94: Chapter 68: Green Daily Life
“Yaoyao, what are you doing so early in the morning?” Jiangg Ning approached the kitchen, her eyes filled with utter disbelief.
What greeted her was her younger sister, who was already up, chopping vegetables with a dead-serious expression and intense focus.
“You’re awake, Sis.”
Jiangg Yao’s expression wasn’t great. Her smile was forced, but she didn’t seem as angry as she had been yesterday. She just seemed a little down.
“If you’re hungry, just tell me. I’ll cook for you. Don’t hurt yourself!” Jiangg Ning said, about to take the kitchen knife from her sister’s hand. Her heart pounded as she watched, thinking it was far too dangerous.
’What if Jiangg Yao, who has barely ever cooked, cuts her hand?’
“It’s fine. I can do it. If I cut slowly, I won’t hurt my hand.”
Jiangg Yao pressed her lips together, lowered her head, and continued to chop the celtuce with a very serious attitude. Her grip on the knife was standard and precise; she clearly wasn’t joking around.
“You bought so many vegetables?” She stared at the huge pile in the basket, stunned.
“Yeah, Sis. I went out early to buy them. I should learn to be independent. I thought a lot last night… You’re going to get married someday. You can’t stay by my side forever. It’s not a bad thing to become independent early on.”
“Yaoyao…” Jiangg Ning looked at her, a profound sense of guilt welling up inside.
She could understand how her sister felt. After all, the two of them had been inseparable since childhood, and now they were being forced to share her.
Jiangg Ning was silent for a moment. Instead of stopping her, she went to wash her face and then came back to help her sister make breakfast.
With the two sisters working together, the dishes were ready in no time.
But the dishes…
On the living room coffee table were stir-fried bitter melon, stir-fried lettuce, shrimp with yu choy, and flash-fried celtuce, along with two bowls of congee with greens and lean pork…
Everything was green!
Jiangg Ning sat on the sofa, at a loss for where to begin. She just stared at the food.
“I went to the morning market, and all these vegetables looked so fresh. I couldn’t help myself and bought a bunch of different kinds. It’s fine, though. It’s healthy!”
“Haha…” Jiangg Ning forced a smile, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear and hesitantly picking up her chopsticks.
She gazed at the table, overflowing with green.
Her sister’s mood seemed to have improved. She kept putting more food into Jiangg Ning’s bowl until it was half-full.
And to be fair, Jiangg Ning found the stir-fry delicious.
It was light and refreshing, not at all greasy. The aroma filled her mouth as she chewed, mingled with a rich umami flavor that was mouth-watering and left a lasting impression.
The two sisters seemed to have forgotten the rift from their argument the day before, their conversation once again becoming warm and affectionate.
It was as if the fight had never even happened.
“You work so hard teaching, Sis. You should eat more.”
“You should eat more too, Yaoyao.”
“No, I’m going to lose weight. I’m planning to be like you, Sis, and watch my figure.”
“It’s fine. You only weigh a couple of pounds more than me; it’s not even noticeable. Besides, vegetables won’t make you fat. Look how fresh these are—so very green.”
“But we used a lot of oil. That has an effect.”
“No, Yaoyao, your big sis has to criticize you for that. You chopped so much, wouldn’t it be a waste of food not to eat it? Besides, there’s nothing wrong with being a little bigger. At least you’re more… well-endowed than me!”
“…Really? Then let’s eat it together.”
Jiangg Yao picked up a couple of pieces of celtuce and put them in her congee. A light sheen of oil immediately bloomed on the surface. Changing from her usual unceremonious way of eating, she elegantly parted her ruby lips and put the food in her mouth.
Jiangg Ning watched her, narrowing her eyes as she drank her own congee.
’This breakfast is surprisingly heartwarming.’

On such a bright and sunny day, the self-disciplined Chen Yuan opted to start with a five-kilometer morning run.
He had also woken up especially early. To be precise, he was woken up by Jiangg Yao.
He had been half-asleep when Jiangg Yao, who was beside him, suddenly said she wanted to go home. He’d sat up, hair a mess, ready to take her back.
But she insisted against it, saying she could get back on her own.
Helpless, Chen Yuan could only lean against the headboard, trying to get some feeling back into the arm she had been using as a pillow all night, and watch as Jiangg Yao left.
’At that moment, he kind of felt like a courtesan…’
’The client comes in a hurry and leaves in a hurry, their thoughts as impossible to grasp as the wind.’
Since he couldn’t get back to sleep, he just got up, changed his shoes, and went for a run, planning to get breakfast afterward.
One street north of Fengting District, there was an absurdly large park. Across from its entrance was Mingfu Soup Dumplings, famous throughout Lanjing. The shop was always packed with a long line in the mornings, and today was no exception.
After his run, Chen Yuan was so hungry he felt like his stomach was stuck to his spine. He strode into the soup dumpling shop.
He ordered two steamers of their signature dumplings, one small steamer of crab roe dumplings, and a bowl of congee with preserved egg and lean pork. For a growing university student, it would take seven or eight minutes at most to wolf all this down.
If it weren’t for the scalding hot soup inside the dumplings, he could have been even faster.
While eating his dumplings, Chen Yuan remembered to open his phone and check his class schedule for the day. He wanted to preview the material, as he sometimes had trouble keeping up with the thought processes of the older professors.
“Ai-chan, eat this!”
As Chen Yuan was digging in, a particularly soft and cute voice came from a table diagonally in front of him.
Two girls were sitting across from each other, devouring soup dumplings. Incredibly, there were already four or five empty steamer baskets stacked beside them, a testament to their terrifying appetites.
“Here. If you’re not full, I’ll go order another steamer. We need to eat quickly; my assistant just texted me.”
The other girl picked up a dumpling with her chopsticks, dipped it in the sauce, and placed it on the plate of the girl with the cute voice.
“Arigato, Ai-chan~”
“You’re welcome.”
Chen Yuan hadn’t noticed the two of them at first.
But everyone who passed by in the aisle couldn’t help but stare, looking with some surprise at the two girls with their cheeks stuffed full of food. It was for a simple reason.
They just stood out so much in the restaurant.
The slightly taller girl had long, smooth hair that fell over her shoulders. She wore a brand-new school uniform and simple makeup, but her features were exceptionally refined.
Her face and figure were both far more outstanding than the average girl’s. Her skin, in particular, was so fair and flawless it seemed it might break if you blew on it.
As for the one with the cute voice, she was shorter. Her feet didn’t even touch the ground when she sat on the chair…
She was wearing oversized clothes that looked like a robe, the hem covering her legs. She even had to roll up her sleeves to eat.
The girl’s eyes were shockingly large, like two black jewels set in her face. When she spoke, she was just like a Barbie doll.
“Waiter, another steamer of crab roe dumplings!”
“You got it! Coming right up.”
The girl with the long, straight black hair called out, and the waiter immediately responded.
At the same time, the petite girl also turned her head, her left cheek bulging as she chewed continuously.
