Chapter 47 - 43: Jiang Zhengfeng (2)
Chapter 47: Chapter 43: Jiang Zhengfeng (2)
’He’s so respectful toward Jiang Zhengfeng. Seems like the man is no ordinary entrepreneur, huh?’
Jiangg Ning didn’t usually follow this sort of thing. Her mom never had any intention of letting her take over the company, so she wasn’t interested in it.
It wasn’t just her cousin.
As soon as Jiang Zhengfeng arrived, a crowd of people gathered around him, all greeting him enthusiastically. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call it fawning.
As she got a little closer, Jiangg Ning finally got a clear look at Jiang Zhengfeng’s face.
He was somewhat different from what she’d expected. The man wasn’t old; he looked to be under fifty and was quite charismatic. Not only were his features well-defined, but his eyes were deep and held the air of a businessman, yet with an added touch of scholarly refinement.
’For some reason, he seems… a little familiar? As if I’ve seen him somewhere before, but I just can’t remember!’
She puzzled over it for a good while but ultimately came up with nothing.
“President Jiang really is handsome,” her younger cousin commented with a grin, standing on her tiptoes to get a few glances.
“You know him too?”
“Of course, he’s my brother’s mentor! I’ve seen him a few times before.”
“Mentor?”
“Tsk, well, not a mentor in the traditional sense. It’s mainly that he gave my brother some advice before, and apparently, it helped a lot. Since then, whenever he runs into business problems, he goes to President Jiang for guidance. They have a great relationship.”
“To be able to mentor my cousin, he must be really impressive then!” Jiangg Ning said, as if she finally understood.
“Sis, you really don’t know anything about this stuff, do you? President Jiang is a god-tier figure in the new energy sector! A Fortune 500 tycoon! He was one of the first to get started, a man who rode the wave of the new era.”
“Huh?”
Jiangg Ning was startled when she heard this.
One had to know, the entry threshold for the Fortune 500 list last year was 28.66 billion US dollars.
That was probably several hundred times stronger than the company Jiangg Ruxue had painstakingly built over many years.
That was no exaggeration at all.
Jiangg Ning’s scalp instantly went numb!
’Mom, you want me to go and get acquainted with a tycoon like that?’
Just last night, she had been thinking she’d just find a chance to say a few words, have her cousin introduce her, and offer a toast. That would have been enough. After all, Jiangg Ruxue was a reasonably well-known entrepreneur in Mingzhu City.
Now that she understood the situation, she decided to just give up.
She shook her head, quickly looking away and refocusing her attention on the wedding, which had already begun.
The music began to swell, and the wedding officially commenced.
The guests hurried to their seats. The lights grew dim, and a huge colored-glass chandelier at the very top of the main hall began to cast a soft glow, instantly setting the mood.
The first person to take the stage was a middle-aged man with glasses. He was slightly overweight, the joy on his cheeks impossible to hide.
He wasn’t the master of ceremonies, but he took the microphone anyway.
“Good day, esteemed guests. Welcome to this wedding. We painstakingly chose this auspicious day, and just as I’d hoped, the sun is shining brightly today… Allow me to introduce myself. I am the bride’s uncle, Cheng Fang, and I am deeply honored to host and witness such a sacred and romantic wedding for them.”
The middle-aged man paused. He was the owner of this very commercial building. His speech was quite fluent, showing he had prepared beforehand and took this very seriously.
“I’m reminded of a poem by Su Wu: ’Tying our hair, we become husband and wife; Our love for each other, never in doubt.’ To be honest, I was also present when the bride and groom first met. It was just a very ordinary dinner, but who would have thought that fate would bring them together! So, you see, fate is truly a marvelous thing. To all the younger guests who have yet to marry, you should be on the lookout. Why not take this chance to see if there’s a special someone among you?”
When he finished, his face was wreathed in smiles, and many people in the main hall responded with applause.
One lively young person even shouted out, “I’m looking right now!”
This drew a ripple of good-natured, quiet laughter.
After that, the ceremony was quite elaborate.
One person finished speaking, and then another had to speak. The bride and groom were nowhere to be seen. Half an hour later, as the music swelled to a crescendo, the groom finally made his entrance, holding a bouquet of flowers as he stood in the center of the stage.
At the same time, a side door opened.
Cheers erupted, and an exceptionally gentle female voice began to sing a soft, crooning song.
Before Jiangg Ning could even get a look, her cousin beside her cried out, “It’s Liu Yixian! The superstar! My cousin actually managed to invite her.”
Jiangg Ning didn’t really know this celebrity, but her singing voice was beautiful and quite captivating.
Amid the song and music, the bride, dressed in an exceptionally gorgeous wedding gown, made her grand entrance.
’A woman can be careless about the other details of her wedding, but she must care about the dress!’
The moment the bride appeared, a chorus of “Wow”s could be heard. Even Jiangg Ning couldn’t help but slowly widen her eyes…
’So beautiful!’
It was the most beautiful moment in a woman’s life.
The pure white wedding gown was dotted with countless tiny diamonds. Her veil cascaded down past her hips, enveloping her entirely. The neckline was made of a special, soft, transparent fabric that looked like a delicate film, beneath which a prismatic gem glittered. The skirt descended in layer upon layer, and its long train required several people to carry it.
Jiangg Ning quickly took out her phone. CLICK, CLICK, CLICK. After a few shots, she excitedly shared them with her younger sister.
The wedding was a great success. During the vows, Jiangg Ning’s cousin beside her couldn’t help but quietly wipe away her tears.
However, the reception that followed was not quite as pleasant.
It was boisterous and noisy, and the racket was giving her a headache.
’After this is over, I still have to catch a flight back to Lanjing,’ Jiangg Ning thought. ’I’ll need to get some good sleep then.’
…
Needing a breath of air, Jiangg Ning snuck off by herself to a terrace. As she breathed in the fresh air, she felt like she had been reborn.
