Chapter 41 - 38: Lying, a Slap on the Palm
Chapter 41: Chapter 38: Lying, a Slap on the Palm
The sudden interruption infuriated Jiangg Yao.
She pulled Chen Yuan back and tried to cuddle up again. The two of them were together, but they just couldn’t recapture that heart-pounding atmosphere!
Simply put, the mood was killed!
There was no heart-pounding feeling. It was incredibly boring. She even wanted to just look down and play on her phone; even a game would have been better.
Jiangg Yao watched Chen Yuan start scrolling through short-form videos and couldn’t help but clench her little fists.
From the moment he walked in until now, she had been meticulously plotting, casting aside all her reservations. She’d coaxed Chen Yuan until his face was beet red; he was practically dizzy and putty in her hands.
But one phone call had ruined all her efforts.
Jiangg Yao’s chest heaved. She took a few deep breaths before she managed to calm down.
’It wasn’t that she absolutely had to have physical contact. Even just staying together, chatting casually while keeping a bit of distance, would have been acceptable.’
’Moving too fast wasn’t a good thing.’
But the problem was Jiangg Ning!
’She got annoyed just thinking about it. When the two sisters first started this online relationship together, they hadn’t thought it through and never predicted things would turn out this way. Since Jiangg Ning had already decided to break up, didn’t that make Chen Yuan hers alone?’
’Her sister had made her decision; she’d been ruthless about it.’
’But because my feelings ran deeper, I chose not to give up.’
’So, it was only right that Chen Yuan belonged to her.’
’So, did Chen Yuan actually have feelings for her sister?’
’Jiangg Yao knew she and her sister had completely different personalities. He had to have a preference; it couldn’t be fifty-fifty. Her sister hadn’t done a thing, so what right did she have to occupy a place in *her* boyfriend’s heart?’
’It made no sense at all!’
’And those two actually kissed?!’
’That was his first kiss!’
’Something that was lost and gone forever!’
That was why Jiangg Yao had to claim Chen Yuan, decisively. Otherwise, there was no way to soothe the jealousy in her heart. This was also why she kept asking him what type of girl he liked, even resorting to checking his phone to prove he didn’t like her sister’s type.
’At least I should get to kiss him, right?’ Jiangg Yao thought.
’So what if a girl takes the initiative? So what if I’m chasing my man? I’m all about chasing my man.’
It was as if a miniature Jiangg Yao was speaking in her mind, clenching her fists, being stubborn, and stomping her feet.
“My, it’s so hot~”
Jiangg Yao suddenly threw off the blanket and started fanning her cheek with one hand.
She was launching her second offensive.
Although she hadn’t broken a sweat, that didn’t stop Jiangg Yao from acting hot, stretching languidly, and tying up her hair to reveal her fair neck.
She was dressed quite lightly in a white shirt and a short skirt. She had even taken off her socks and left them in the bedroom. From this angle, if Chen Yuan so much as glanced down, he would get an eyeful of her figure.
Jiangg Yao even deliberately propped her legs on the coffee table, her delicate feet crossed, arches tensed and pointing slightly upward.
Sure enough, Chen Yuan turned his head and glanced at her.
Pretending to be nonchalant, Jiangg Yao turned to meet his gaze. Her eyes were sparkling, and she even bit her moist lip, looking incredibly shy and adorable.
But the next second, Chen Yuan went right back to his phone.
It was as if he felt nothing at all.
“Pair of eights.” “Pass.”
The sounds of Fight the Landlord from his phone grated on Jiangg Yao’s nerves, and her expression instantly darkened.
’What the hell are you playing Fight the Landlord for?!’
She adjusted her mood again and shook Chen Yuan’s arm. “I’m so bored, Little Young Master. Won’t you play with me for a bit?”
“Speaking of which,” Chen Yuan said nonchalantly as he played a pair of twos, shutting down the Landlord’s hand. He pointed a finger toward the kitchen. “If you’re bored, go wash the dishes. There’s a dishwasher, you just have to load it.”
“?”
Jiangg Yao froze, the expression on her face stiffening.
She almost lost her composure.
’Wash the dishes? Me?!’
’Little Young Master, you really think you’re a young master, don’t you!’
Jiangg Yao gritted her teeth, unable to keep up the cute act. Her hands shot out, grabbing Chen Yuan’s shoulders and twisting him around to face her.
She sat up straight, showing off her perfect figure, and spread her hands.
“Am I not pretty?”
“You are.”
“Am I not attractive?”
“Of course you are.”
“Then why are you playing that stupid Fight the Landlord?” Jiangg Yao snatched his phone and stuffed it under her butt. “You know very well what you should be ’playing’ with.”
Chen Yuan genuinely didn’t understand what she meant.
All he could think about was what a great hand he’d just had. He was down to his last two cards; honestly, winning some Happy Beans was the real priority here.
Seeing his utterly bewildered expression, Jiangg Yao grew even angrier.
She stood up and threw out a sentence: “Sit right there, and you just wait for me!”
Then, Jiangg Yao stormed toward the exit. With a muffled SLAM, she was gone, leaving a stunned Chen Yuan to stare in bewilderment at the closed door.
’What in the world was that about?’
Jiangg Yao left the apartment and headed to her own. She opened the door with her fingerprint and made a beeline for her bedroom.
Once inside, she threw open her closet.
She rummaged through it, mercilessly tossing her everyday clothes onto the bed. As she searched, she muttered, “I remember it being in here… Where did it go.”
Then, Jiangg Yao slapped her forehead.
’Right, that outfit was in the walk-in closet.’
She hurried over, changed her entire outfit, and admired herself in the full-length mirror for a moment.
“It’s still missing something…”
Jiangg Yao thought for a moment, then started searching the living room. Finally, she slipped into the study Jiangg Ning usually used for work and put on a pair of non-prescription, half-frame glasses.
…
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK—
Chen Yuan, who had been sitting obediently, heard the knocking. He scrambled to open the door, still wondering how he was going to placate an angry Jiangg Yao.
But the moment the door opened…
He was dumbfounded.
The Jiangg Yao who appeared before him had changed her clothes. She now wore the small blazer and V-neck shirt from her school uniform on top. But her lower half was clad in a professional, form-fitting skirt and black stockings. Her slender high heels made a crisp CLACK-CLACK sound with every step, and the glasses she wore gave her an air of intellectual elegance.
“Did you go to your car to get clothes?”
“Am I not allowed?” Her pretty face was icy, her expression chillingly severe. Her tone was even more intimidating, like a teacher turning a question back on a student she was scolding.
This was what Chen Yuan feared most. For a moment, he was speechless.
Jiangg Yao pushed past him, walked inside, and shut the door with a SLAM.
“Look at me!” she commanded, her presence overwhelming.
Chen Yuan couldn’t help but be meek, knowing she was truly angry now.
“Do you like me dressed like this or not?”
“It looks good. I like it.”
“You dare to like your teacher? So bold of you! Have you no discipline at all? Hold out your hand!”
Chen Yuan felt as if he were instantly back in his school days. Between Jiangg Yao’s expression and the blazer she wore to class, the scene was far too immersive. Meekly, he held out his hand.
How could Jiangg Yao not be angry? ’So Chen Yuan really *does* like my sister’s style,’ she thought. ’He even said it looks good?!’
SMACK!
SMACK!
The palm of Chen Yuan’s hand was slapped sharply twice.
“I’ll give you one more chance. Tell me again, does it look good or not?”
“N-No… it doesn’t look good.”
“Liar! Hold out your hand! Look your teacher in the eye.”
With a pained expression, Chen Yuan had no choice but to extend his hand again to accept his punishment, because he had, in fact, been lying.
SMACK!
SMACK!
The palm of his hand was already turning red.
But then, Jiangg Yao moved in close. She aggressively braced a hand against the wall by the entryway, pinning Chen Yuan. She narrowed her eyes and whispered in his ear, “You said you didn’t know what to ’play’ before? Do you know now?”
Her soft voice tickled his ear.
Chen Yuan felt his heart pound like a drum as his mind went blank.
This was his first time experiencing such a bizarrely thrilling sensation.
In the dead silence, only the sound of their breathing could be heard.
And Jiangg Yao slowly leaned in, wrapped her arms around his neck, and rose onto her tiptoes…
