Chapter 39 - 36: Usually Likes to Look at Abs
Chapter 39: Chapter 36: Usually Likes to Look at Abs
“Alright, alright, enough! I’ll let you look!” Jiang Yao took a deep breath, her chest heaving. Now it was her turn to break out in a cold sweat. “But… what are you going to look at?”
She asked with a hint of panic.
If Chen Yuan wanted to check her Green Bubble, Jiang Yao would absolutely refuse!
’Are you kidding me?’
’If he discovered her Green Bubble chat history with her sister, all her lies would be exposed, and this relationship of hers would be well and truly over.’
“The same as you. Just your short videos. I want to see what you usually scroll through.”
“Okay, fine. But I’ll hold it, and we’ll watch together.”
“Why?”
“Because… because I’m chatting with my best friend. You know how girls talk—the things we say are completely outrageous! We talk about everything! It’s dirty! And violent! You’d better not look, or you might scar your innocent little mind.”
“No problem. Just the short videos.”
Chen Yuan nodded in agreement. Jiang Yao braced herself, then quickly closed out of Green Bubble with one hand and obediently scooted closer.
“My little young master, please, enjoy the show.”
She opened the app, and the first video on the screen appeared before their eyes.
But a woman’s phone is often a strange and mysterious thing.
Especially for a shut-in with a chaotic streak like Jiang Yao, who lives for drama.
The very first video alone was on another level.
*Sun Xiaochuan Recalls His Past with Xiaomi Porridge, His Expression Tortured as He’s Lost in Painful Memories*
Chen Yuan didn’t recognize this Sun guy, but the name sounded vaguely familiar, as if he’d heard it somewhere before.
Then, the corpse-like man in the video, lying on a hospital bed, spoke as if muttering in his sleep, “I just remember the Xiaomi Porridge was so hot, so scalding… I’ll never forget that feeling for the rest of my life.”
Jiang Yao immediately lost it. She turned her head away in agony. This was beyond just breaking a sweat!
“I don’t understand it, but I’m utterly shocked.”
“Hey—this one’s boring, let’s find another!”
Jiang Yao quickly swiped it away, waving her hand as if she didn’t get it either.
The second video was a bit strange.
A virtual anime character appeared on the screen. She was rather cute and seemed to be livestreaming, interacting with her audience.
The video’s title was: *Taffy Suddenly Lets Out a Weird Cry During Her Stream. That’s Right, It’s Me Under the Desk Putting in Work.*
“Taffy loves her Hatchling Grass Princesses the most, meow… Shower Taffy with lots and lots of gifts, meow!”
The indescribably forced, cutesy voice, paired with the cute avatar, the outrageous shrieks, and the subtitle that floated by—”Taffy is my daddy”—left Chen Yuan completely dumbfounded.
Jiang Yao turned away in embarrassment, her earlobes flushing red. She whispered, “The algorithm just pushes random stuff, y’know? I never watch this kind of thing normally.”
Those two videos had already shattered most of her mental defenses.
Just as Jiang Yao was hesitating, wondering if she should stop now to prevent her image from completely crumbling, Chen Yuan had already reached out and swiped to the next video.
The third video wasn’t as outrageous as the first two, but it was still hard to watch.
A guy with abs appeared on the screen, swaying his hips to the music.
The vibe was singular: Thirsty.
Chen Yuan couldn’t take it anymore and shut off her phone.
“What’s so great about abs? You actually like watching this kind of stuff?”
“They’re not that great. I don’t like guys with abs at all,” Jiang Yao said with an awkward laugh, trying to act casual as she fanned her face with a pale hand. “Only little girls like that sort of thing. Guys who pose and show off are the worst.”
“Yeah, I have abs too, and I don’t think they’re anything spec—”
“You do? Let me see…”
Before Chen Yuan could finish, Jiang Yao’s ears had already latched onto the key information. She threw off the blanket, eagerly leaned in, and grabbed the hem of his sweatshirt.
SLAP—
Chen Yuan slapped her hand away.
“Don’t look. It’s embarrassing.”
“It’s fine. If it’s my boyfriend, I don’t mind.”
“Well, I mind.”
“Oh! I get it. My little young master doesn’t actually have abs and is just saying that to act tough… Mm-hm, your big sister is very understanding. I won’t expose you.”
“You don’t believe me?”
“I do! I believe you!” Jiang Yao looked at him scornfully, a hint of a challenge in her eyes. The strange smile on her lips was incredibly unsettling.
’Reverse psychology?’ This was the one thing Chen Yuan couldn’t stand. ’Who does she think she’s looking down on?’
