The bell signaling the end of the school day rang, and students began to pour out of the academic building. Like sand crabs rushing with the tide, they flooded the entire tree-lined avenue under the dimming sky in just a few moments.

A girl wearing a face mask sat on a bench, swinging her long legs out of boredom as her gaze swept back and forth across the crowd.

It seemed she was waiting for someone.

She had a jacket tied around her waist, trapped beneath her on the bench. Its long sleeves dangled down, swaying with her movements and casting faint, flickering shadows on the ground.

“Jiangg Yao.” Chen Yuan turned to look at her, his head tilted down slightly.

“I’m here…”
