Chapter 332 - 221: Parting the Clouds to See the Sun, Chen Yuan Sees the Two Sisters, the Heartbeat Game Ends
“Here, use this fruit knife.”
A magnetic, gentle voice sounded in the living room, followed by the sound of footsteps drawing near.
The two sisters stood together by the box.
In that instant, Chen Yuan didn’t even dare to breathe.
He had to believe what he’d heard with his own ears. All his suspicions were now confirmed. The one he had been dating all this time was actually two people.
A pair of identical twins!
The older sister was Jiangg Ning, the younger was Jiangg Yao. They took turns dating him, coordinating their schedules to avoid being found out.
In other words, they were hiding a private “team voice channel” from Chen Yuan, constantly updating each other on the situation. No wonder he’d never noticed anything amiss.
Chen Yuan’s heart was a tangled mess. Even though he was drenched in sweat from being cooped up, he didn’t move a muscle.
His spirit was utterly crushed.
He felt even more hopeless now than he had last night, as if he were receiving a merciless final judgment from fate itself.
He had lost.
Completely and utterly lost.
He had lost because of his one hundred percent trust in Jiangg, lost because he had given his heart away so easily.
“Why are you opening that package?” A voice spoke again.
’That must be Yaoyao talking.’
“Didn’t you ask me to get the fruit knife to open a package?”
“The seller said it’s best to record a video while unboxing. That way, if anything is damaged, we can hold them responsible and have proof.”
“I’ll go get my phone then.”
“Wait… Sis? Why are you so set on opening my package?”
“I want to see what’s inside.”
“What could be in it? I already told you I bought a monitor and a graphics card.”
“How much did it cost?”
“Uh… tens of thousands.”
“You’re wasting money again!”
It sounded like Jiangg Ning was getting angry. Suddenly, there was a CLATTER as something was thrown onto the coffee table, followed by the sound of someone plopping down on the sofa.
“Spending tens of thousands just like that… Do you think that’s a small amount of money?” Her tone was tinged with anger.
“What’s wrong with me spending money!? I didn’t spend yours, I earned it all myself from streaming! Who are you to get on my case?” Jiangg Yao sounded incredulous, letting out a humorless laugh.
“So you can just waste the money you earned?”
“What’s wrong with spending money on our Young Master? I’d like to know. I’m not the one complaining about the cost. Is it wrong for me to treat him well?”
“That’s exactly the problem! I don’t object to you spending money on Chen Yuan, but you’re always pulling these schemes behind my back. Don’t you think that’s despicable?” Jiangg Ning spoke rapidly, her words an interrogation. “What did I tell you last time? We have to be fair and just in what we do.”
“How am I despicable?”
“What were the rules for our ’Heartbeat Game’? Communicate more, set ground rules! Whoever wins, the other one automatically backs out, right?”
Neither of the two sisters noticed.
During what was, for them, a perfectly normal argument, the hole in the corner of the nearby box had grown slightly larger.
In the cramped space that was almost suffocating him, Chen Yuan pricked up his ears and listened intently.
Every word from Jiangg Yao and Jiangg Ning was a fresh shock. He even felt that only now was he beginning to understand what Ningning and Yaoyao were really like.
Their true selves—not fake, not an act, with no disguises.
’Heartbeat Game? What the hell is that?’
’Could it be related to that app I downloaded?’
Chen Yuan thought, connecting the dots.
“That’s right.”
“That’s why I’ve warned you so many times—no dirty tricks!” Ning slammed her hand on the table, making Chen Yuan jump inside the box. “Are you planning to take away Chen’s sleeping time too? Using gaming to rack up more affection points! If he sleeps all day, how am I supposed to spend any time with him?”
“What nonsense are you talking about? I ordered this equipment half a year ago, before the ’Heartbeat Game’ even started.”
“Even without this equipment, you’ve pulled plenty of tricks before. What about those?”
“Oh? I’m despicable? I pull tricks? And you haven’t?”
“Make yourself clear.”
“What have you done with our Young Master at night? Isn’t it disgusting? It’s hard to imagine… you’re so prim and proper usually, yet you debase yourself for him like that. You have the nerve to call me a simp, but you’ve been doing plenty of simping yourself in private, haven’t you, *sister*~”
“Jiangg Yao!”
“Yes? What can I do for you?”
Chen Yuan’s eyes flew open, his mind feeling like it had just crashed. He never imagined his “twin girlfriends” would fight over something like this, and so viciously. They were at each other’s throats, locked in a war of words.
Neither was willing to back down.
This completely overturned his imagination and everything he thought he knew.
’Ningning has a side that isn’t gentle at all.’
’And Yaoyao’s cuteness has vanished, replaced by pure passive-aggression.’
“However I act with Chen, it’s because I like him, I love him… I see him as my future husband.”
“As if I don’t love him too?”
Two sudden confessions of love.
For some reason, a complex mix of emotions welled up inside Chen Yuan. Hiding in the cardboard box, he didn’t know if it was a lack of oxygen or the sheer weight of his feelings, but he slowly lowered his head, his expression a tangled mess of pain, sorrow, and a strange sense of being moved.
His face flushed, then paled.
“You’d better pull a few more tricks,” Jiangg Ning said mockingly, her voice full of intimidating force. “When we check the contents of the Heartbeat Diary, if you lose, you’d better accept it gracefully. I’ll make sure you know just how badly you can lose.”
“Stop dreaming. The Young Master is mine! You’re the one who was never really here from the start. It’d be best if you never interfered in our lives again.”
“Hah. Such verbal bravado. It only makes you a laughingstock.”
“What’s that gibberish? I don’t understand a word you’re saying!”
“All you can do is run your mouth. He’s mine. You won’t take so much as a single hair from him.”
“He’s mine!”
“Mine!”
“Mine!”
The two sisters shouted in unison. Chen Yuan could hear sounds of a physical fight breaking out. A pile of clutter was swept off the sofa, scattering across the floor. A throw pillow was hurled several meters, hitting his box with a THUD.
A few stuffed animals were also used as projectiles, flying everywhere.
Vaguely, he could hear someone shout something like, “Don’t pull my hair!”
An immense sense of humiliation washed over Chen Yuan. He was actually being treated like an object to be divided up. The Heartbeat Diary, something he thought recorded moments of love, was clearly just a tool for them to decide a winner.
Lies! Nothing but endless lies.
Chen Yuan couldn’t tell which of Jiangg Ning’s and Jiangg Yao’s words were true and which were false. He felt like he was being tortured to the point of madness.
Performances, disguises, deception.
The pure love he thought he had was filled with all this messy nonsense. It wasn’t beautiful like he’d imagined at all. Looking back now, it was all just a hysterical delusion on his part.
Chen Yuan’s breathing grew more and more rapid. A fire seemed to swell in his chest. Beads of sweat dripped from his forehead and temples, soaking a corner of the cardboard box.
His mind was filled with sorrow and despair, which, fueled by the increasingly violent argument, rapidly soared to a peak.
BAM—
He kicked the cardboard box to pieces and stood up.
Immediately after, an instant flood of light assaulted his vision, so bright he couldn’t open his eyes. He shielded his face with his hand, adjusting from darkness to light, until he could finally see everything in front of him.
Two Jianggs.
Two identical-looking women came into view.
Their eyes, noses, mouths, the contours of their cheeks, the shape of their eyebrows, and even the way their pupils contracted in utter shock—there was no difference whatsoever.
Chen Yuan’s face was tragic, drained of all color.
A brief silence, just for a second.
The living room was utterly still.
After a moment.
“AHHHHH!!!!!”
Jiangg Yao’s scream erupted.
Meanwhile, Jiangg Ning grabbed a nearby pillow to hide her face.
The two sisters instantly fell into chaos, panicking as if it were the end of the world.
