My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building
Chapter 344: Unreasonable
The relationship between the two Sects was tense. They were originally one and the same, but split apart due to certain conflicts.
The Snow Sword Sect had virtually no female disciples. That incident back then had caused the vast majority of male disciples to break away, which led to the founding of the Snow Sword Sect.
For hundreds of years, the relationship between the two Sects had been poor, and friction would flare up from time to time.
Fights and the like were a common occurrence.
The Snow Sword Sect, however, was always trying to prove it was no weaker than the Celestial Sword Sect. The annual Martial Arts Grand Ceremony was a perfect opportunity for this, so naturally, the friction between the two Sects would be no less frequent.
"The Celestial Sword Sect Leader's disciple? And he's a man? Doesn't your Celestial Sword Sect claim to never accept male disciples?" Xue Fengjian sneered upon hearing this, his tone dripping with mockery and a hint of sarcasm.
"I was just about to announce this to everyone," Bai Han said. "From this day forward, the Celestial Sword Sect has abolished the rule against accepting male disciples. As long as they meet the recruitment criteria, the Celestial Sword Sect will take them."
"Bai Han, is what you're saying true?" someone asked in surprise.
"Of course. The Celestial Sword Sect announced it yesterday. You can ask around," Bai Han said.
All the Sects on the Great Snow Mountain understood that the Celestial Sword Sect's decline was due entirely to its refusal to recruit male disciples.
After all, more men practiced martial arts; there were far too few women.
The crucial point was that joining the Celestial Sword Sect meant you couldn't marry or be in a relationship. This rule alone deterred a huge number of potential recruits.
After all, what young woman doesn't yearn for love?
So, over time, fewer and fewer disciples joined the Celestial Sword Sect. Who would join a Sect like that unless they had nothing better to do?
"Looks like your Sect Leader has finally come to her senses. It's not like you're running a nunnery over there. What was all that nonsense about no men, no marriage, no relationships? It caused a lot of trouble for the disciples in my Sect who'd taken a liking to your Celestial Sword Sect's women but couldn't do a thing about it."
"I went to talk to your Sect Leader about it many times, and she threw me out every single time. But it's all good now. I can let my boys court them openly."
A Human Martial Arts Peak Realm expert said with a laugh, clearly pleased.
"There are no such restrictions anymore. As long as the feeling is mutual, anything is possible," Bai Han said with a smile.
"Bai Han, don't change the subject!" Xue Fengjian said, his voice cold and sharp. "If you don't give us an explanation today, this isn't over! The Martial Arts Grand Ceremony is about to begin, and for the Celestial Sword Sect to do something like this... Without an explanation, the Snow Sword Sect will not let this rest!"
He refused to back down, his eyes fixed on Bai Han and filled with fury.
"Hah, an explanation?" Chu Feng sneered. "Seniors, you all saw what happened. Who exactly owes whom an explanation here? He's the one who wanted me to fight, who was dying for a match. And now that he's lost? What, is he a sore loser?"
The Cultivators present who had witnessed the entire event nodded in agreement.
"It's just as young friend Chu Feng said. Your Snow Sword Sect's own Xue Wujian was the one who demanded the match."
"That's right. The Snow Sword Sect proposed the match. There should be no hard feelings after a loss. For you to act this way now is rather unseemly."
The crowd murmured in agreement, speaking up for what was fair.
"Did you hear that?" Bai Han's voice was cold and sharp. "He asked for it himself. With that pathetic level of skill, you'd be better off not showing your faces in public. You're nothing but a splinter group of traitors from the Celestial Sword Sect. Did you really think you could compare to us?"
Just then, Xue Wujian walked in.
"Second Senior Brother." The flush had faded from the man's face, and he seemed to have recovered slightly, but his injuries were still severe. It was clear he wouldn't be healing anytime soon.
Seeing Xue Wujian, everyone was still deeply shocked.
Chu Feng's sword strike had been terrifyingly powerful, to a shocking degree.
At that moment, Xue Wujian glared at Chu Feng, his expression ugly and filled with rage. "You brat! You sneak-attacked me when I wasn't looking!"
"Hah, I sneak-attacked you? You've got some nerve," Chu Feng sneered, completely unfazed. "Want to go again? Let's see if you can handle it this time!"
'Since things have come to this, I have no reason to back down. If we fight again, I'm confident I can cut him down.'
'After all, I'm at the Mid-stage Core Formation Realm. With the Celestial Sword Technique on top of that, killing these guys is practically child's play.'
'Besides, the power I can unleash with the Celestial Sword Technique is far greater than what the Celestial Sword Sect Leader herself can manage.'
'After all, the Celestial Sword Technique is a Divine Soul Skill; it serves the Divine Soul.'
'Without a sufficiently powerful Divine Soul, it's impossible to unleash the technique's true might.'
'Although this Sword Skill is considered high-level within the Celestial Sword Sect, ordinary people can't bring out its true power at all. To put it bluntly, it's a waste for it to remain in the Celestial Sword Sect.'
'Back when the Celestial Sword Sect Leader traded this Sword Technique with me, she thought she was getting the better end of the deal.'
'But in reality, I was the one who had truly come out on top!'
