Chapter 127 -126: Suppression

The young man before her had clear, sincere eyes. His clothes were of an unidentifiable style, but they were definitely not Mage Robes.

Moreover, his accent and intonation were odd. Coupled with his black hair and black eyes, nothing about him seemed right!

Upon seeing the Holy Light Magic, the Magic Girl had started to relax her guard.

But when he claimed to have arrived hundreds of years in the future while researching Forbidden Magic, her eyes grew cold once more, and her grip on her Magic Staff tightened.

In the past, Holy Light Magic was a symbol of good people.

But now, without the constraints of the Divine Spirits, anyone with talent could use Holy Light Magic. It was no longer possible to judge a person’s character just by the type of Magic they wielded!

“Who was the king of Molian three hundred years ago?”

“What kind of Forbidden Magic were you researching?”

The middle-aged man, Linton, and the Magic Girl asked at the same time.

The guards beside them, as well as their elf and minotaur companions, aimed their weapons at Li Ye, ready to attack at any moment.

Li Ye let out a silent sigh.

‘Blending into a new world is so difficult.’

While wandering around the Undead Mist, he had read many books in ruined towns and villages, so he already had a general understanding of this world.

Answering their questions wasn’t difficult.

But the problem was, once suspicion arose, guilt was as good as confirmed.

Even if he answered their questions flawlessly, an endless interrogation would still await him.

It was highly likely that after this group finished questioning him, another would take their place. No matter how much he had learned, he could never know as much as these locals…

This wasn’t the outcome Li Ye wanted, nor did it fit the identity he had crafted for himself.

Li Ye’s gaze suddenly turned cold. “Are you questioning the identity of a Forbidden Mage?”

“No Mage has ever researched Forbidden Magic at the age of twenty,” the Magic Girl said, her voice chilly as she raised her Magic Staff. “Blessing.”

A blue light flowed out, spreading evenly over everyone.

“I’ve had a bad feeling about this guy from the start! A damn liar!” the minotaur roared, swinging his axe down at Li Ye.

The axe blade shimmered with white light.

As the axe fell, a massive phantom of the axe appeared above Li Ye’s head.

Meanwhile, the elf released her bowstring. The instant the arrow was loosed, it split into three, each aimed at Li Ye’s brow, throat, and heart…

BOOM!

The phantom axe slammed into the thick layer of decaying leaves under the tree, blasting a large crater and sending dead branches and withered foliage flying.

THUNK! THUNK! THUNK!

The elf’s three arrows sank half a foot deep into the tree trunk where Li Ye had been standing, their fletchings quivering slightly.

But the black-haired young man had abruptly vanished.

“Was he smashed to pieces?” the minotaur asked, astonished.

“Careful, he dodged it,” the elf said, scanning her surroundings vigilantly. As her eyes swept the area, the leaves rustled as if responding to her gaze.

“Are you looking for me?” Li Ye’s voice suddenly rang out from right between them.

The breath from his words brushed against the Magic Girl’s hair. She held her breath instantly, all the color draining from her face.

WHOOSH!

The middle-aged man’s Two-Handed Sword swung around, a blur of motion as it slashed toward the space behind the Magic Girl.

Worried about accidentally injuring the Mage, he hadn’t imbued his blade with any aura.

Even so, the greatsword still kicked up a fierce wind, messing up the Magic Girl’s smooth golden hair.

The descending greatsword stopped abruptly in mid-air, caught from behind by Li Ye, who had casually reached out and grabbed the spine of the blade.

The middle-aged man’s pupils contracted. “Impossible.”

THUD!

A small figure shot out of Li Ye’s shadow, colliding with two approaching guards and sending them tumbling to the ground in a heap.

The figure rolled on the ground, then vanished into the shadows once more, leaving only a pool of blood behind.

Li Ye retracted his foot.

To his senses, the Assassin was as conspicuous as a giant lightbulb.

“Dean!” the middle-aged man roared.

White light erupted from his body as he tried to wrench the greatsword free from Li Ye’s grasp, but the blade was as if welded in place, not budging an inch.

“Die!” The minotaur’s eyes instantly turned bloodshot. He stomped heavily on the ground, and a cyan light spread outward like a ripple as the earth itself seemed to tremble.

The giant axe swung toward Li Ye’s head once more.

The elf loosed three more arrows at Li Ye.

Their coordination was impeccable, but the others didn’t move, likely afraid of injuring the Mage.

Their movements were fast.

But to a peak Harmonization Realm master, they were still far too slow.

What’s more, Li Ye was no ordinary Harmonization Realm master. Even without using any Spiritual Power, this group couldn’t even touch his shadow.

He could have taken down the entire group and ended the battle before the minotaur even made a move, relying purely on his physical strength and agility.

The only reason Li Ye was humoring them was to test the limits of this world’s Combat Power and fighting styles.

The middle-aged man’s strength was roughly equivalent to the peak of Foundation Establishment.

The minotaur’s strength was a little higher, equivalent to the Golden Core Stage at most.

Of course, Li Ye was referring only to their raw strength.

In terms of overall combat effectiveness, any random Golden Core Realm cultivator from his previous world could have instantly wiped out this group of scrubs.

Li Ye didn’t want to reveal his full strength.

Watching the charging minotaur, he waved his hand. Water Elements coalesced, freezing the creature inside a large block of ice.

After casting the spell, he still had time to catch the three arrows the elf had shot, and with a flick of his wrist, sent them flying back.

PFFT! PFFT! PFFT!

The three arrows precisely struck the elf in her left and right shoulders and her right leg.

The elf cried out in pain and collapsed to the ground.

It all happened in the blink of an eye.

In the blink of an eye, the minotaur was frozen, and both the elf and the Assassin were grievously wounded…

“Seth!”

The middle-aged man’s eyes blazed with fury, and the greatsword in Li Ye’s grasp suddenly glowed with white light.

The block of ice encasing the minotaur began to make cracking sounds, on the verge of shattering.

Li Ye ignored the white light flaring from the greatsword. While the light was undeniably sharp, Li Ye’s physical body was comparable to that of the Witch Race. He possessed not only immense strength and agility but also a supernaturally tough constitution; the white light couldn’t even break his skin.

“I’ve already held back. Are you sure you want to keep fighting?” Li Ye said, looking at the middle-aged man. He smiled and raised his other hand, and a massive Fireball began to form in his palm.

In an instant, its diameter exceeded two meters.

The burning Fireball radiated immense heat, overpowering the nearby campfire and causing the Magic Girl’s golden hair to curl slightly. She was finally jolted to her senses. “Linton, stop! Stop fighting!”

‘Fight? Are you kidding me?’

Linton stared at Li Ye, who nonchalantly held the greatsword while supporting a massive Fireball with his other hand. His mouth was dry; how could he possibly muster any will to fight?

Never mind his strength that rivaled a barbarian’s; if that Fireball in his hand exploded, none of his people would survive.

The most terrifying part was that he had just frozen the minotaur with a block of ice and, in the next instant, conjured a giant Fireball. There was no incantation, not even a moment’s transition between the two.

If all of this came from the Magic Power stored in his body, his rank had to be at least that of a Great Mage.

‘A Great Mage in his twenties?’

‘He also used Holy Light Magic. A Tri-Element Grand Mage in his twenties who also possesses superhuman Martial Force?’

‘Divine Spirits above!’

‘What kind of monster have we provoked?’

The people around them stared, transfixed, at the enormous Fireball in Li Ye’s hand, their eyes filled with terror.

If they weren’t mistaken, that Fireball was still growing…

“Honorable Great Mage, please, calm down! There must be some misunderstanding between us. Please stop letting the elements resonate with your Fireball!”

The Magic Girl looked at Li Ye, her gentle features etched with panic.

She did her best to appear sincere, but her eyes, which kept darting toward the Fireball, and her trembling voice were proof of her inner terror.

CRACK!

The block of ice trapping the minotaur burst apart. “Die—! Damn it, what the hell is that thing?”

He went from rage to calm in a single second.

“A misunderstanding?” Li Ye asked with a smile.

“It is a misunderstanding.” The Magic Girl’s expression was stiff as she nodded with difficulty. Beads of sweat had formed on her forehead, whether from the Fireball’s heat or from fear, it was hard to say.

“So we can talk properly now?” Li Ye asked, glancing around at the group.

“Of course,” Linton and the Magic Girl said in unison.

To show his sincerity, Linton even let go of the Two-Handed Sword he treasured as much as his own life.

He took a step back and raised his hands high. “Honorable Great Mage, perhaps you could… get rid of that Fireball first?”

In just that short time, the Fireball had already expanded to three meters in diameter. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Li Ye could clearly sense the surrounding Fire Elements gleefully joining the Fireball he had created, as if in celebration.

“Honorable Mage, please spare this forest…” the elf pleaded, struggling.

“Don’t worry, it won’t explode.” Li Ye tossed the greatsword aside, glanced at the weakened elf, and conjured a small stream of water with his other hand.

‘Using two elements of Magic at the same time.’ The Magic Girl stared, completely stunned, at Li Ye holding a Fireball in one hand while using Water Magic with the other.

The stream of water flowed past the group and stopped in front of the elf. Then, its tip split into three small, transparent hands.

Before anyone could react, the three small hands grabbed the fletchings and violently ripped the three arrows out.

“AAAH!”

The elf let out a bloodcurdling scream as her wounds tore open, blood gushing out.

“What are you doing? She’ll die!” the hidden Assassin reappeared, a trickle of blood at the corner of his mouth as he roared in fury at Li Ye. “Elise, hurry and heal Seth!”

The Magic Girl, Elise, snapped back to her senses. Seeing the elf who had fainted from the pain, she quickly raised her Magic Staff and began chanting a spell, intending to heal her.

But Li Ye was clearly faster. He dispersed the stream of water, and with another wave of his hand, he condensed a ball of Holy Light that enveloped not only the elf but also healed the Assassin’s injuries.

The elf’s bleeding stopped, and the Assassin’s pale face instantly regained its healthy complexion.

Elise was a Water Mage, and Water Magic had good healing properties, but it ultimately couldn’t compare to Holy Light.

Seeing this, she helplessly stopped her incantation. When she looked at Li Ye again, her eyes were sparkling, filled with pure adoration.

‘Using three types of Magic at once without any interference… Even if the man before me isn’t a Forbidden Mage, he must be close.’
