Chapter 587: Chapter 252: Great Demon

But after being intercepted and pursued...

’Have they already figured it out?’

’Realized this World is different from their own—that it holds lethal dangers?’

’So...’

’They’ve started to hide on purpose?’

Qin Fang’s eyes flickered.

’...This is not good news at all.’

Jinlan Prefecture was covered in towering mountains and steep ridges. The terrain was exceedingly complex.

If these Demons stopped rampaging and started hiding instead... finding them would become much more difficult.

...Even with Qin Fang’s specialized cultivation of the Spiritual Sense Leaf Skill, the area covered by his Divine Sense was currently just over a hundred meters, not even reaching two hundred.

For other Martial Artists, the area covered by their Divine Sense was even smaller.

Finding any trace of the Demons would require a grid search... and even then, some might be missed.

’Even the Elders from the various Sects would probably have a hard time finding every last Demon hiding in some godforsaken nook or cranny, wouldn’t they?’

His brow furrowed as he looked down at the three Pangolin Demons that had just emerged. Three points of Profound Light descended.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

The three points of light struck in an instant. The three Pangolins sensed the danger at the last second and jerked their heads up.

But it was too late.

The True Gang pierced their Silver Armor, instantly encasing them in ice.

Qin Fang flew down and looked at the three Pangolin Demons, his brow slightly furrowed.

Just as he was about to check the cave they had emerged from, he suddenly sensed something and snapped his head up.

A laugh echoed from high in the sky.

"Impressive skills!"

"I believe you’re a senior brother from the Heavenly Gang Wuji Sect? I am Mu Changge of the Golden Rainbow Sword Sect. A pleasure to meet you, Senior Brother."

Qin Fang was momentarily stunned. The figure from the sky had already landed and approached him.

He saw that the man wore the True Disciple’s Robe of the Golden Rainbow Sword Sect. He was handsome, but his features were soft and delicate, giving him a rather androgynous air.

His face was alight with an admiring smile as he cupped his hands in a salute to Qin Fang.

’A True Disciple of the Golden Rainbow Sword Sect...’

Qin Fang’s eyes flickered. He returned the salute and said, "I am unworthy of being called Senior Brother... I am Qin Fang, of the Heavenly Gang Wuji Sect."

"So you are the Hall Master’s True Inheritance from the Guiyuan Lineage?"

Upon hearing this, the man’s face showed clear surprise, which quickly morphed into a look of delighted admiration. "Several years ago," he said, "I accompanied my Sect Elders on a visit to the Heavenly Gang Wuji Sect. I’d long heard of Senior Brother’s great name and had hoped to make your acquaintance. Unfortunately, fate kept us from meeting, a regret I’ve held to this day. What a stroke of luck to run into you here! Now that I see you with my own eyes, Senior Brother, your presence is even more remarkable than your reputation!"

He looked overjoyed, as if the chance to get to know Qin Fang truly delighted him.

Qin Fang was taken aback. ’He’s one of the True Disciples who visited the Sect before?’

The man’s enthusiasm was a bit much for Qin Fang, who was not used to it. He cupped his hands again. "Senior Brother, you exaggerate. My reputation is just empty talk, not to be taken seriously."

"It’s hardly empty talk! I’ve heard all the stories about Senior Brother Qin at your Sect... Reaching the True Essence realm at twenty, taking first place in the Martial Arts entry-level examinations, a Talent hailed as the greatest in the Heavenly Gang Wuji Sect in a century..."

The man said admiringly, "All of these accomplishments are truly astounding."

The man’s praise was so sincere that Qin Fang was at a loss for how to respond.

Before he could speak, he heard the other man sigh. "This Jinlan Demon Calamity has dragged our neighbors into our troubles. We had no choice but to request aid from your esteemed Sect... On behalf of my Sect, I would like to thank you, Senior Brother, and all your fellow disciples who have come to our aid. Thank you for your trouble."

He said, cupping his hands with a wry smile.

Qin Fang replied, "A Demon calamity is not a matter for a single Sect. Our two Sects are allies; this is our duty. We don’t deserve such thanks... Senior Brother Mu, you are too kind."

A smile touched Mu Changge’s lips. He nodded and sighed, "That’s true... Our Sects are neighbors, like brothers... We should interact more in the future."

Qin Fang gave a slight nod in agreement.

"Sigh. I wonder what the situation inside that Grotto Heaven is. I heard from my Sect Elders that the number of Exotic Species to emerge has likely surpassed forty thousand... I’ve been traveling for a while, and I’ve found many counties and towns have been annihilated by these demonic Exotic Species..."

As he spoke, Mu Changge looked down at the three frozen Pangolins, his eyes filled with sorrow and self-reproach. "The people of my Jinlan Prefecture have suffered grievous casualties... It is our Sect’s failure."

Qin Fang hadn’t expected this disciple from the Golden Rainbow Sword Sect to be so compassionate.

He paused for a moment before shaking his head. "This is a natural disaster. No one could have predicted this would happen. Senior Brother, you shouldn’t blame yourself so."

But Mu Changge simply shook his head with a sigh. "Our Sect is the guardian of Jinlan Prefecture. It is our duty to eliminate Exotic Species and maintain peace in Jinlan. Regardless of the reason, the fact remains that the Jinlan Demon Calamity is raging, leading to the innocent deaths of countless people of Jinlan... Our Sect cannot shirk this responsibility."

Now Qin Fang was truly at a loss for words.

After a brief pause, Mu Changge suddenly asked, "Senior Brother Qin, when did you arrive? How many Demons have you killed in the past few days?"

Qin Fang gave a brief reply.

Mu Changge nodded slightly. "I’ve been at it for a few days myself... but the number of Demons I’ve run into has dropped significantly... I imagine our counterparts from the other Sects have arrived in Jinlan and are beginning to make their move. I expect they’ll all be wiped out before long."

As he said this, a hint of relief flickered in Mu Changge’s eyes.

...He was clearly eager for the Demon Calamity to be over.

Qin Fang hesitated for a moment before gently shaking his head. "Senior Brother, I’m afraid it might not be that simple..."

"Oh?" Mu Changge froze, looking at Qin Fang in confusion. "Senior Brother Qin... have you discovered something?"

Qin Fang looked at the three Pangolins on the ground.

"These three Pangolin Demons just emerged from that cave over there. Today, I waited on this mountaintop for at least six hours. I didn’t discover them until the very moment they came out of their burrow."
