Chapter 578: Chapter 249: True Blood

These Wolf Demons were Exotic Species, after all, and their bodies contained Demon Essence. Leaving them here might cause some unforeseen changes, so they had to be taken away.

Watching several disciples soar away, Qin Fang turned and glanced toward the Government Office... He had seen his Martial Uncle head that way just now... ’He must be going to inform the local officials.’

Qin Fang had no interest in such socializing. He didn’t linger; with a single move, he shot into the air, keeping an eye out for any stragglers.

Before long, nearly all the disciples had returned to the Cloud Boat.

But as they looked down at the county town still billowing with thick smoke, their expressions were grim.

...They had seen the devastation within the county town.

Although exterminating the demons had only taken a short while, the scene of a mountain of corpses in a Sea of Blood within the town had deeply shocked and shaken many of the disciples seeing it for the first time.

Looking down at the ground now, they couldn’t help but feel heavy-hearted.

Soon, their Martial Uncle returned. He spoke in a grave voice, "It seems the situation is more serious than we imagined. This place isn’t far from the Canglan Realm, and traces of demons have already appeared..."

"The Court’s army didn’t stop them?" Qin Fang asked with a frown.

"The army primarily guards the County lands, but this Jinlan Prefecture is covered in towering mountains and steep ridges. It’s impossible to stop them."

The Martial Uncle shook his head slightly.

Qin Fang fell silent upon hearing this.

’These are demons. For them, crossing mountains and ridges is like walking on level ground. How could ordinary Soldiers possibly stop them?’

’The county town below is a case in point... Even with defensive walls, it collapsed in an instant. Not to mention other places.’

"Let’s head to the Prefecture City first. We’ll decide what to do after meeting with the people from the Golden Rainbow Sword Sect."

the Martial Uncle said finally.

"Martial Uncle, the people below... many of them are seriously injured. Should we..." a disciple suddenly spoke up.

"The Court’s people will handle the cleanup. We can’t afford to delay here for too long... Otherwise, what will happen to the other places?"

The Martial Uncle shook his head gently.

The disciples fell silent, feeling helpless.

Soon, the Cloud Boat started up again and quickly departed.

It wasn’t until the Cloud Boat had departed that the townspeople below seemed to awaken from a dream.

"D-did you see that? J-just now, that was a boat, right?"

"A-a boat flying in the sky... Heavens, I-I’m not dreaming, am I?"

"A boat in the sky, and people... they helped us kill the demons... C-could they be the legendary Immortals?"

Someone murmured.

The people of the county town had never ventured out of these mountains, and experts at or above the True Essence Realm rarely visited places like this.

They were, of course, utterly stunned.

Seeing the Cloud Boat fly into the distance, someone suddenly fell to their knees and began kowtowing forcefully toward it.

Only then did the others come to their senses, hurriedly kneeling one after another.

Their faces, which moments ago were filled with dazed terror, were now overcome with piety and fervor.

Murmurs of "Immortal" were endless.

But a few people looked up at the Cloud Boat, their eyes filled not with fervor and piety, but with a mix of envy and sorrow.

"Those are... people from a Sect, right? I wonder which one..."

Two old men conversed in low voices.

"Definitely not the Golden Rainbow Sword Sect... Their direction of arrival seems to be from Canglan Prefecture... They must be a Sect from over there..."

"What are the Sects in Canglan Prefecture called?"

"...If you don’t know, how would I?"

The old man looked at his companion, speechless, then sighed softly. "We both only spent a short time in the Outer Sect back in the day, didn’t we? How could we have learned anything real about the matters of the Extraordinary Domain?"

His words silenced the other old man. After a long moment, he said, "What do you make of all this? So many Exotic Species appearing out of nowhere... Do you think something’s happened to the Sect?"

Worry flickered in the first old man’s eyes, but he ended with a bitter laugh. "Even if something happened, what could we do? We’re just two former Outer Sect members who left the Sect many years ago..."

The other old man immediately fell silent.

After a long pause, he let out a soft sigh, his gaze following the Cloud Boat as it receded into the distance.

...This Cloud Boat was also something they had never seen before.

A ship that could sail through the sky...

...Never before had the line between mortal and Extraordinary been drawn so clearly—and so unattainably—before them.

"Master."

"Master."

Someone calling from behind snapped them out of their reverie. They realized the ship in the sky was long gone.

Coming to their senses, they turned to see who had called them. It was their own disciples, each wearing the distinctive uniform of their martial arts school.

"Masters, the County Magistrate requests your presence at the Government Office to discuss matters..." said a pale but resolute young man, his voice respectful.

He was injured; his chest had been pierced by a wolf’s claw and was now only crudely bandaged.

"What are the casualties at the school?" one of the old men asked him.

His eyes dimmed. "The Wolf Demons were too strong. Our martial brothers suffered heavy casualties... If one of the Immortals hadn’t come down and saved me, I’m afraid I..."

Immortals...

The two old men were silent.

Finally, they sighed softly.

’Indeed. To mortals, weren’t those above the True Essence Realm just like Immortals?’

They said no more and prepared to go to the Government Office Entrance to discuss matters.

...Perhaps at the Government Office Entrance, they could learn some information about this terrifying Sect...

The Cloud Boat flew through the air. After only a short distance, Qin Fang’s brow furrowed as he looked down.

"Martial Uncle, there are demons."

Fan Zhengchu immediately looked over. He saw several beasts sprinting through the wilderness... but they were clearly no ordinary beasts, for they were running across the treetops, just as Xile once had.

There were five in total, all of different species.

One giant leopard, two apes, one wild boar, and one large marten...

Each one was enormous, much larger than the previous Wolf Demons. All five were clearly in the Extraordinary Realm, Demon Essence surging from their bodies as they charged swiftly through the mountains.
