Chapter 109: Chapter 96: A Perfect Explosion, Piggy Dragon and Catfish Demon Vanquished

Here, the river channel suddenly widened, and the current slowed.

Years of accumulated silt had formed vast shallows, where dense reeds stretched out in an unbroken expanse under the cover of night.

Even in the depths of autumn, vast patches of their withered yellow, resilient stalks and leaves remained.

They rustled in the wind, like countless whispers.

Underwater, it was even more treacherous, teeming with undercurrents, the weeds spreading and writhing like a siren’s long hair.

This was the territory the Piggy Dragon had ruled for untold years.

With a flicker of his Divine Thought, Lu Jing’an stopped making the Catfish Demon conceal its aura.

A brutish and murky wave of Demon Power, one belonging to a large Water Demon, radiated from the Catfish Demon—like a stone dropped into a calm lake.

Ripples of energy undulated outward.

The instant these ripples of Demon Power touched the densest, darkest patch of weeds deep in the river bend...

BOOM!!

It wasn’t a sound, but a muffled boom that resonated in the very soul!

A heavy, domineering pressure filled with an ancient, primordial aura erupted from the watery abyss, sweeping out in all directions!

For an instant, the current in this entire section of the Canglan River seemed to freeze!

The gently flowing river water became as thick as slurry, the pressure suddenly multiplying severalfold.

Every last ripple on the water’s surface was wiped away, turning it into a smooth, pitch-black, deathly still mirror.

It reflected the wan crescent moon and a few cold stars in the sky.

In the dense reed beds on both banks, the roosting water birds and wild ducks were scared witless.

They burst from their roosts in a frantic flurry, letting out shrill, terrified cries.

They flapped haphazardly toward the dark, distant sky.

On the Ironclad Ship, the dozen or so Water Patrol Officers—men who were considered seasoned and had seen their share of trouble—all turned pale and involuntarily took half a step back.

They pressed their backs against the ship’s railing or bulkheads, hands gripping their weapon hilts so tightly their knuckles cracked.

They couldn’t see what was happening underwater, but the primal, instinctual terror of facing an apex predator coiled around each of their hearts like an icy snake. A chill shot up from the base of their spines to the crowns of their heads.

This was the Piggy Dragon’s Spirit pressure.

It was the strongest possible response to its intruding neighbor.

On any other day, the Catfish Demon would have fled long ago.

But now, the Catfish Demon was under the forceful compulsion of Lu Jing’an’s Divine Thought.

Instead of being frightened away by the terrifying pressure, it was as if it had been struck by an invisible whip.

With a violent flick of its tattered tail, it shot toward the terrifying core from which the pressure emanated!

The murky river water parted around its massive body, forming a momentary vacuum in its wake.

Ahead, the weeds grew as wildly as giant kelp in an enchanted forest.

They intertwined and tangled, forming a gloomy, obscure underwater labyrinth.

In the deepest part of this labyrinth, a massive cave entrance was vaguely visible, half-hidden by thick, black silt and dark green algae.

The entrance was nearly six meters high and over ten meters wide.

Its edges were jagged, and its depths were out of sight.

A sinister chill and a faint, foul stench emanated from it, making it seem like the gullet of a slumbering, primordial behemoth.

CHURN...

The darkness deep within the cave entrance began to stir. Heavy silt churned and billowed upward.

Then, two points of dark golden light, each the size of a lantern, slowly ignited in the absolute darkness.

They were a pair of vertical pupils.

Cold, cruel, and devoid of any emotion.

There was only primal hunger and territorial dominance.

Reflected in their depths was the ugly, scab-covered, grayish-brown body of the approaching Catfish Demon.

The hibernating Piggy Dragon had awoken.

It recognized its dim-witted neighbor, the one that occasionally blundered into its territory.

Its extreme displeasure at being roused from hibernation transformed into an even more violent pressure, surging outward like a tidal wave.

It couldn’t even be bothered to emerge fully from its cavern, merely extending its enormous head a little further.

It opened its massive maw, large enough to swallow half a small boat.

ROAR!!!

The silent roar transformed into a physical shockwave in the water!

The violent current, mixed with the foul stench from its mouth, erupted like an underwater bomb!

The weeds surrounding the cave entrance were instantly blasted to shreds by the shockwave.

Countless small fish, shrimp, snails, and insects hiding among them were pulverized before they even had a chance to flee.

This was the final warning.

One filled with clear contempt and impatience.

The old Catfish Demon would have been terrified by this dual suppression of bloodline and power, turning tail and fleeing for its life long ago.

But today, infused with Lu Jing’an’s Divine Thought, the Catfish Demon’s dull, murky eyes held a strange, reckless madness.

For the first time, a flicker of something like astonishment flashed in the Piggy Dragon’s dark gold, vertical pupils.

Immediately after, that astonishment was ignited, transforming into a Heaven-Burning, sea-boiling rage!

’Since this idiot is looking for death, then I will use bone-chilling pain...’

’...to make it remember the price of offending my authority!’

BOOM!!

From the cavern, a huge black shadow shot out, moving faster than the naked eye could follow!

It wasn’t its head, but a gigantic tail covered in thick, bluish-black Scale Armor!

The base of the tail was as thick as the trunk of a century-old tree, and each scale was the size of a washbasin.

Their edges were sharp as knives, glinting with a cold, metallic sheen in the murky water.

The bones at its tip protruded, forming several menacing, hammer-like clubs.

The massive tail cut through the water’s resistance, its speed impossibly fast.

In a flash, it crossed the distance of several yards, carrying a terrifying, Mountain-Breaking power.

It whipped toward the relatively slender point where the Catfish Demon’s tail met its body!

SMACK—CRACK!!!!

A horrifying, composite sound echoed through the water!

First came the sickening thud of flesh being struck by immense force, followed by the sound of bone snapping under the strain!
