Chapter 106: Chapter 95: Even the Silent Villain Must Die

"I’m not the type to hold a grudge overnight.

If I have an enemy, I prefer to settle the score on the spot.

So, tell me now, who is my enemy?

I’ll go deal with them right away."

The three men whipped their heads around.

Somehow, Lu Jing’an was already standing there quietly.

Lu Jing’an had taken off his patrol uniform jacket.

He wore only a crisp white shirt, the cuffs casually rolled up to his wrists.

It was stained with a bit of dust and smelled of gunpowder.

The moonlight and the lingering lamplight fell on one side of his face.

His features were clear, and his expression held a calm that was completely out of place with the Purgatory-like scene before them.

"Jing’an!" Lu Huaisan was ecstatic. "You’re back!"

Lu Huaichuan, however, instantly sensed something was wrong and asked urgently, "Where’s your master?"

"My master and the others will be here shortly."

Lu Jing’an didn’t want to waste time explaining, so he casually lied.

Lu Jing’an strode into the main hall, stepping over the floor littered with shards of broken glass.

It made a soft CRUNCH.

His gaze fell on the two men in sunglasses outside the courtyard. "Third Uncle, is it those two stinking blind men outside?"

"Yes!" Lu Huaisan gritted his teeth. "It’s those two stinking blind men, putting on a whole mystical act!"

"Alright."

Lu Jing’an nodded, his tone as casual as if he were talking about stepping out to buy a newspaper.

"Just sit tight for a moment, Third Uncle. I’ll be right back."

With that, he walked straight toward the shattered doorway.

"Stop!"

Lu Huaichuan grabbed his arm with immense force.

"You came back alone, didn’t you? You need to leave. Now.

That’s a Cultivator! You can’t handle him! Go!"

Lu Huaisan realized it too, the joy vanishing from his face.

It was replaced by anxiety as he reached out to push Lu Jing’an toward the Back Door. "Listen to your Second Uncle! Go, quickly! I’ll hold them off! The Lu Family is counting on you for its future!"

But Lu Jing’an’s body was like a Mountain Range, utterly unmoving.

"Third Uncle, Second Uncle."

His gaze remained fixed on the scene outside the door, his voice steady.

"They are no ordinary Cultivators. And neither am I."

"If these two blind men weren’t so slow, and if there weren’t several other groups of rats trying to loot the docks, the armory, and the granary outside the city, they never would have made it through the Lu Family’s main gate."

But Lu Huaisan couldn’t hear any of this right now. He had only one thought.

’The Lu Family can survive without the three of us brothers, but it absolutely cannot lose Jing’an!’

"Enough nonsense! You get..."

Just then, the sunglasses-wearing man at the door, who was stroking his zither, seemed to have overheard the conversation inside the hall.

The corners of his mouth, which had been indifferent until now, curled for the first time into a clear, mocking arc.

He tilted his head up slightly, looking in Lu Jing’an’s direction.

His dry, hoarse voice drifted in on the night wind:

"Since you’re here, none of you should think about..."

The word "leaving" had not yet left his lips.

No one even saw Lu Jing’an make a move.

All they saw was the hilt of a sword suddenly protruding from the center of the zither player’s forehead, right above his sunglasses.

It was a short sword, no more than seven inches long, its cold light sharp and menacing.

It had pierced through the front and emerged from the back of his head, its tip still dripping with blood and brain matter.

The mockery on his face instantly solidified.

His cross-legged body swayed, and the ancient zither on his lap fell to the ground with a THUD.

His entire body followed, toppling backward and landing with a THUMP on the cold, bluestone ground.

His sunglasses shattered, revealing a pair of gray, pupil-less eyes, wide open in death.

The zither’s song was heard no more.

The night suddenly became terrifyingly quiet.

There was only the sound of the wind and the pained groans of those in the courtyard who were not yet dead.

Lu Jing’an lowered his right hand, which he had raised at some unknown moment to make a subtle throwing motion.

He frowned, a trace of annoyance in his voice at being interrupted.

"Who gave you permission to interrupt my Third Uncle?"

Lu Huaisan, who had been desperately trying to push him away, froze with his hands in mid-air.

His eyes were wide and round, his mouth slightly agape, but no sound came out.

He looked at the rapidly cooling corpse in the courtyard, then slowly, very slowly, turned his head back.

As he looked at his nephew, whose expression was still just as calm, his mind went completely blank with a BUZZ.

That Zither Cultivator, who with a wave of his hand had shattered Spirit-Breaking Tigers, destroyed Broken Blade Soldiers, and slaughtered dozens of experts as if they were nothing...

was dead just like that!

’He was killed by Jing’an with a single, casual move!?’

"Jing’an, you... you..." Lu Huaisan’s voice trembled uncontrollably.

Lu Jing’an turned his head and gave Lu Huaisan a smile.

"Third Uncle, I told you, I’m not an ordinary Cultivator either.

Do you believe me now?"

"I... I believe you! I believe you!!"

Lu Huaisan grabbed Lu Jing’an’s shoulders, so excited he was babbling, and turned to Lu Huaiqian.

"Big Brother! Big Brother, did you see that!

That’s my nephew!

My own nephew!

Isn’t he incredible?!

Huh?

Isn’t he incredible!"

Lu Huaiqian looked at the corpse in the courtyard, then back at his son.

He let out a long, pent-up breath, and some color finally returned to his face.

He nodded slowly, his voice steady but unable to hide the trace of pride. "Yes. My son... is quite incredible."

Lu Huaisan: "..."

Lu Jing’an gently patted his excited uncle’s hand. "Third Uncle, there’s still one left.

You can praise me again after I’ve dealt with him."

This time, no one tried to stop him.

Under Lu Huaisan’s fervent gaze, Lu Huaichuan’s shocked stare, and Lu Huaiqian’s gratified look,

Lu Jing’an stepped over the threshold and walked into the courtyard, thick with the stench of blood.

The other blind man in sunglasses, the one holding a bamboo cane, was still standing in the same spot, unmoved by his companion’s death.

His deathly pale face was tilted slightly, as if listening for Lu Jing’an’s footsteps.

The blood-stained bamboo cane in his hand was pointed diagonally at the ground.

Lu Jing’an unhurriedly and meticulously rolled his already cuffed shirt sleeves up another two turns, baring his forearms.

Lu Jing’an sized up his opponent as if evaluating an Item.

"I was watching just now."

Lu Jing’an spoke, his voice exceptionally clear in the silent courtyard.

"It seems your speed is pretty decent."

"So let’s see whose is faster—yours, or mine."

The instant the words left his mouth,
