Chapter 87: Chapter 88: Heinous Crimes, Tongshan Hall

"Who goes there? How dare you trespass into the Medicine Gang’s hall!"

"Kill!"

"You’re courting death! Brothers, enemy attack!"

"Kill!"

"Spare us! Spare us, we surrender!"

Under the cover of night, the massive hall of the Medicine Gang echoed with the sounds of slaughter. However, it didn’t take long for the noise to subside.

Su Chen and his group had struck directly at the heart of the enemy. Without breaking a sweat, they effortlessly took down the Medicine Gang’s hall, capturing all ten or so people inside.

These men had little backbone. Seeing that the situation was dire, they gave up their resistance, threw down their weapons, and surrendered.

Tian Yi frowned at the dozen men before him, a hint of doubt in his eyes. This operation had gone unexpectedly smoothly.

As far as he knew, Medicine Town’s hall ranked at least in the top five, if not the top three, among the Medicine Gang’s many branches in terms of status and power. But now, there were barely over a dozen people guarding this hall, completely contradicting the impression he had gathered from his investigations.

"Speak! Where did your Hall Master Liu Ming go?" Tian Yi demanded sternly.

The crowd shook their heads profusely, begging for mercy. "We don’t know! Please spare us, milord!"

"Hmph, you don’t know? It seems you prefer doing things the hard way. If you don’t talk, don’t blame me for being ruthless," Tian Yi said in a deep voice, lacking the patience to waste time on them.

The men continued to beg loudly. Even when the governmental constables resorted to punches and kicks, they still refused to reveal Liu Ming’s whereabouts.

"Captain Tian, could it be that they really don’t know?" someone couldn’t help but ask upon seeing this.

Tian Yi shook his head. "Don’t be fooled by their act. Not a single one of these guys has an honest bone in his body. It would be one thing if a couple of them didn’t know, but there’s no way everyone is clueless."

Saying this, he stepped up to the Medicine Gang members and declared coldly, "I will give you one last chance. I ask, you answer. If you refuse to speak, you die!"

Faced with Tian Yi’s domineering attitude, the gang members were about to plead for mercy again, but were instantly cowed by his piercing glare. They exchanged nervous glances, not daring to breathe too loudly.

"I’m asking you. Where did Liu Ming go?" Tian Yi looked at one specific gang member, enunciating every word.

"I-I don’t know! I really don’t know, milord!"

SLASH!

A blade flashed, and the gang member kneeling right next to him had his throat slit by Tian Yi’s saber. Before he died, the man stared at Tian Yi in sheer disbelief. He couldn’t understand why the blade had come down on him when he wasn’t even the one answering the question!

"You..."

The gang member who had actually been questioned froze in shock, looking at Tian Yi in astonishment. Tian Yi simply grinned, shifting his gaze to the rest of the group as he said flatly:

"If he refuses to speak, I will kill the rest of you. Of course, if you know the answer, you can also tell me, and I’ll spare your life!"

These words made the remaining gang members turn pale with terror. They blurted out:

"Why?!"

"If he won’t talk, then kill him! What does that have to do with us?"

"We really don’t know!"

Tian Yi ignored their protests. There were over a dozen people here; he didn’t believe that not a single one would crack by the end.

"Where did Liu Ming go?" he asked, looking back at the same gang member.

Faced with Tian Yi’s question again, the man who had answered without hesitation just moments ago now faltered. The heavy stares coming from everyone around him caused his pressure to skyrocket. He swallowed hard, a fine sheen of sweat breaking out on his forehead, and choked out, "I... I really don’t know..."

CRACK!

"Ah!"

Blood spurted through the air, splattering onto his cheeks. Another Medicine Gang member had died a gruesome death.

"Where is Liu Ming?" Tian Yi’s demonic voice rang out again. To the ears of the captives, it sounded like the call of the grim reaper.

"I..." The gang member decisively shut his mouth, refusing to speak.

Tian Yi broke into a radiant smile. "Not talking means death too, you know!"

"D-Don’t kill me!" another gang member, who Tian Yi had just locked eyes with, stammered in absolute terror. Then, he glared at the man being questioned and roared, "You bastard! If you won’t talk, I will!"

"You dare?!"

"Fuck you! You aren’t the one dying! Shut your fucking mouth!"

"Hall Master Liu won’t let you off..."

CRACK.

Tian Yi casually dispatched the man making the threats, then looked at the other gang member and asked with a smile, "You can speak now."

GULP.

Looking at Tian Yi’s seemingly harmless smile, the man’s fear only deepened. He gritted his teeth and said tremblingly, "I... I’ll talk, but you have to let us go."

"No problem. I’ve always been a man of my word. As long as you cooperate, you’ll be fine."

"Liu Ming took some men to Tongshan Hall."

"For what?"

"I’m not sure about that. In the past, Qian Hall would go there at the end of every month, and now it’s his turn. But this time they went early. It seems like something major has happened, and they looked very anxious."

"Where is all the money in your hall?"

"In the storehouse, but it was just transported away a short while ago."

"Where to?"

"The Medicine Gang’s headquarters."

"..."

After asking several questions in succession, Tian Yi stopped. He looked at the crowd, his gaze eventually landing on Su Chen. He said softly, "Tongshan Hall is a charitable institution that takes in children, specifically orphans. It’s not far from here. If Liu Ming is indeed there, we must apprehend him. I will have to trouble everyone for this matter."

The group was still reeling from Tian Yi’s brutal interrogation methods. Hearing his words, they all instinctively looked at Su Chen. Su Chen didn’t speak, but simply nodded.

Having received Su Chen’s silent agreement, Tian Yi immediately made arrangements. Once everything was set, he led the group toward Tongshan Hall. About fifteen minutes later, they arrived at their destination.

"Su Xiaoyou, I must trouble you to take your men and enter through the back door," Tian Yi directed. "Hall Master Jiang, Hall Master Huang, you two will enter from the left and right sides. I will lead my men through the front door. We strike in exactly fifteen minutes."

"Understood!" the three men nodded.

Su Chen, Hong Ming, and a few others crossed the street and arrived at the rear of Tongshan Hall. Estimating the time in his head, Su Chen waited until he heard the sound of fighting erupt from the front before immediately charging in.

"Who goes there?"

Leading the charge, Su Chen kicked the back door open. Hearing the commotion, the people inside immediately grabbed their weapons and shouted.

"Enemy attack! Quick, go inform Hall Master Liu!"

Seeing Su Chen and his group, several Medicine Gang members felt their pupils shrink. Realizing the severity of the situation, they yelled out in alarm.

Seeing this, Su Chen’s figure blurred as he dashed in front of them. His fists and palms moved in a flurry. In mere moments, he had knocked down five gang members.

The three men who were running off to report the attack casually glanced back—and nearly had their souls scared out of their bodies. Before they could even react, Su Chen leaped in front of them and dispatched all three in a couple of brief exchanges.

Hong Ming and the others, who were trailing behind Su Chen, stood rooted to the spot. They exchanged blank looks before smiling bitterly. The enemies were all on the ground before they could even lift a finger.

After taking care of the group, Su Chen ignored his companions’ stares and said loudly, "Let’s go. We’ll rendezvous with the others."

Hong Ming and the rest nodded, following Su Chen with complicated feelings as they pressed forward.

Before they even reached the front courtyard, they heard the sounds of an intense battle. The group couldn’t help but quicken their pace. Looking closely, they saw Tian Yi locked in a grueling fight with a middle-aged man who had thick eyebrows and large eyes.

Seeing Su Chen, Tian Yi’s eyes lit up, and he immediately shouted, "Su Xiaoyou, this man is Liu Ming! Please lend me a hand!"
