My Magic Has No Upper Limit

Chapter 83: Burning the Linked Camps

Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Burning the Linked Camps

The heavy footsteps of the Tree Monsters blended together, like the beating of war drums!

"Execute the plan we just agreed on! Gak, let’s go!"

Marcus roared and charged forward with Gak to meet the attack.

THUD! THUD!

Two dull thuds rang out as the two Tree Monsters at the very front swung their branches to strike!

Marcus blocked with his Composite Shield, severed the branch with a downward slash of his sword, then immediately took cover behind his shield again, maintaining a steady, defensive stance.

Gak raised the Arm Shield on his left arm, which absorbed most of the force from the lashing branch.

He then swung his Broad Axe in a wide arc, using the power from his waist to throw his entire body into the motion, viciously chopping into the Tree Monster’s trunk.

CRACK!

The Broad Axe flashed, sending wood splinters flying. The Tree Monster’s bark was torn right off, and the sharp edge bit deep into its trunk.

Gray didn’t have the powerful physique of Marcus or Gak. He had to rely on his relatively nimble movements to dodge the lashing branches, then strike with his sword at the Tree Monster’s lower half.

His Longsword precisely severed the root-joints the Tree Monster used for walking.

The blow made the Tree Monster stumble, and its already sluggish movements slowed even further.

While the three of them held the front line, fire support from the rear arrived just in time.

Valles didn’t charge up a Thunder Arrow, instead opting for suppressive fire with rapid shots.

WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

Arrow after Arrow, infused with a small amount of Fighting Qi, shot out rapidly. Upon hitting the Tree Monsters, they created small explosions, effectively hindering their movements.

Zelir, meanwhile, delivered the most fatal attack to the Tree Monsters—the Fireball Skill.

The very first Magic he had ever learned was finally proving its worth. After a brief charge, an orange-red glow lit up the White Wax Wood Tip of his staff.

Zelir didn’t aim for the Tree Monsters’ trunks, but directly at their crowns, where the leaves and branches were most dense.

BOOM!

The Fireball hit its mark and immediately ignited the leaves. Tongues of flame licked greedily at the branches, and the fire spread rapidly.

But that wasn’t enough. Zelir raised his White Wax Wood staff again, but this time, he didn’t cast the Fireball Skill. He cast the Vortex Skill!

With a flick of his wrist, the swirling current of air he had conjured whistled toward the burning Tree Monster.

WHOOSH—WOOO—

The wind fanned the flames.

The already raging fire, now fed by the wind, spread even more fiercely and shot several meters into the air.

The burning leaves and branches were carried by the wind, setting other Tree Monsters ablaze. In an instant, the entire front line of the battlefield was transformed into a sea of fire.

The burning Tree Monsters were clearly weakened and showed signs of losing control. They no longer strictly followed the Tree Spirit’s commands, instead starting to jump around on the spot, frantically flailing their branches to try and extinguish the flames on their bodies.

But it was all for naught. The fire only grew more intense. The CRACKLING sound of snapping wood came from the Tree Monsters as their massive bodies began to twist and warp in the blaze.

Zelir seized the opportunity to add a few more Fireballs. The Tree Monsters’ bark was scorched black and carbonized, and with a final CRASH, they collapsed.

Zelir’s combination of wind and fire had thrown the Tree Monster legion into chaos, and they fell with thunderous crashes.

For any Tree Monsters that weren’t burned to death, Marcus, Gak, and Gray would move in to deliver the finishing blow, cutting them in half.

Seeing the Tree Monsters under its control suffer such heavy losses, the Tree Spirit became utterly enraged.

ROOOOAR!!!

A furious roar echoed through the forest. The Tree Spirit’s vast network of roots immediately pierced into the earth below, rapidly thickening.

The Tree Spirit drew upon the Power of the earth, and its entire form began to change.

Its trunk grew taller and more formidable. Its branches lengthened rapidly, and the vines hanging to the ground began to twist and extend, their texture growing tougher.

The Tree Spirit’s branches and vines thrashed wildly, beginning to sweep across the surrounding area!

"Watch out!" Gray cried out in alarm, immediately dropping and rolling away.

SWOOSH!

The lash cut through the air with a piercing sound. Where the vine hit the ground, it gouged out a deep furrow.

More and more branches and vines swept in, attacking the members of the party.

Zelir tried to charge and launch a Fireball, but the Tree Spirit reacted far faster than the Tree Monsters. It swatted the Fireball out of the air with a single whip-like vine, dissipating it before it could reach its body.

’It’s pretty smart...’

Zelir narrowed his eyes slightly.

’If that’s the case, then the only option is to get in close and give it a faceful of the Flame Breath Skill.’

He made up his mind.

"Marcus, Gak! You two, get up there and buy me some time!" Zelir shouted.

"No problem!"

Marcus and Gak immediately sprang into action. Both raised their Shields and began to inch closer to the Tree Spirit.

This provocative action immediately drew the Tree Spirit’s wrath. Nearly all of its branches and vines lashed out at the two of them, and the crisp sound of SMACK! SMACK! rang out incessantly.

But Marcus and Gak didn’t retreat a single step. As they did their best to block the strikes with their Shields, they also hacked away at any vines and branches that whipped toward them.

Just as the pressure on the two of them was mounting, Zelir’s magical support arrived right on time.

Stone Wall Skill!

Two thick earthen walls suddenly erupted from the ground in front of them, blocking a dense volley of strikes for Marcus and Gak!

Although the surfaces of the Stone Walls were battered, sending dirt flying, they still bought the two of them a precious moment to catch their breath.

Valles was also providing continuous support for Marcus and Gak from a distance. This time, he used Thunder Arrow, but his target wasn’t the Tree Spirit—it was the remaining Tree Monsters trying to encircle Marcus and Gak from behind.

Each Arrow, imbued with savage Fighting Qi, could directly blast apart a section of a Tree Monster’s trunk. This greatly relieved the pressure on the front line, allowing them to fight without worrying about their backs.

At this moment, the Tree Spirit’s attention was completely focused on Marcus and Gak. A dozen or so branches and vines attacked them frantically under its control, completely ignoring Zelir.

However, it was precisely this contempt that would lead to its demise.

With the aid of the White Wax Wood Base Material, Zelir finished charging his Flame Breath Skill in just over five seconds!

The surrounding temperature began to rise sharply. A heart-stopping, searing heat spread through the area, and even the air started to distort from the heat waves.

At the White Wax Wood Staff End, a dazzling red light was gathering... and then it erupted!

Only then did the Tree Spirit realize something was wrong, but it was too late.

Flame Breath Skill!

BOOOOM!!!

A blazing sphere of fire, like a miniature sun, swept forward!

In an instant, the terrifying torrent of Flame engulfed the Tree Spirit’s upper body. The roiling flames, mixed with a blast of Magic Power, had a devastatingly suppressive effect on this type of plant-based Demon.

The Tree Spirit’s tough bark and its trunk, which blades could not pierce, were now being rapidly destroyed by the Flame Breath Skill.
