Chapter 420: Chapter 345: Am I Supposed to Take on Your Pressure?

Beneath his Armor, sweat streamed out, soaking his clothes.

But it wasn’t just the temperature that was heated—it was the entire battlefield.

"Come on, you beasts!"

Kilian bellowed!

He was single-handedly holding off two ordinary Dragon Snakes!

A thick serpentine body swept in from the right, but Kilian deflected it with a one-handed swing of his Shield!

His Knight’s Heavy Sword swirled with dense Fighting Qi as he slashed at another snake head lunging from the left!

The blow directly caved in the Dragon Snake’s scales, biting into the flesh beneath.

Kilian looked like a god of war.

But while he could handle the ordinary Dragon Snakes, the Flaming Dragon Snake was another matter entirely.

The eyes of the Flame Serpent Head glowed with a savage, crimson light.

It opened its massive maw, and a red light filled with destructive energy welled up from deep within its throat.

Fiery Breath!

The next second, a vast, fan-shaped torrent of flame surged forth, blanketing the air like the fiery clouds of dusk.

In the rear, Mage Rolin, who had been gathering power, completed her Technique.

She pointed the tip of her Magic Wand, and a massive torrent of water erupted forth.

Level Six Magic, Waterfall!

Water and fire collided, annihilating and consuming one another.

Superheated steam billowed out and rose to the sky, an incessant, sharp HISS filling the air.

However, this wasn’t like other battles, where fire might overpower ice or light might suppress darkness.

The Dragon Snake’s fiery breath erupted with immense force, and it actually began to push Rolin’s Waterfall back, inch by inch.

Rolin was clearly giving it her all.

Her Magic Wand was channeling Magic Power at its maximum output, yet the Flame Serpent Head still firmly held the upper hand.

’How can this be... Is my Magic still not strong enough?’

The bitter thought surfaced in Rolin’s mind.

BANG!

The torrent of fire suddenly intensified, and the teetering Waterfall could no longer hold.

In that instant, the Flame completely engulfed the Waterfall!

"Watch out!"

The squad’s Swordsman, Fletcher, reacted in a flash, lunging forward just as the Flame was about to reach Rolin.

The two of them tumbled away in a heap just as the overwhelming torrent of fire slammed into the spot where Rolin had just been standing.

A massive, circular wave of explosive flame erupted, sending out a scorching hot wind.

A faint blue halo materialized around Rolin.

Level Five Defensive Magic, Water Curtain!

The Water Curtain swirled continuously, ingeniously resisting the shockwave of the fiery blast.

The Flame was doused, weakened layer by layer, and finally dissipated into nothing.

From the rear, Shaman hastily began Casting, and two green halos shot into Rolin and Fletcher.

It was a remotely cast Healing Skill—he had mastered that technique as well.

The two, still reeling from the impact, began to feel some relief.

Witnessing this, the others were all inwardly shaken.

Their worst fears had come to pass.

Even with the elemental advantage, Rolin was still unable to suppress the Flame Head.

This meant Kilian’s squad was about to face the unbridled fury of the Flaming Dragon Snake.

Surprisingly, however, the Flame Serpent Head didn’t press its advantage.

Instead, the Magic Power fluctuations from its body were actually weakening!

The blazing red light dimmed, a change visible to the naked eye.

’But no one attacked to weaken the Flaming Dragon Snake just now...’

"What... what’s going on?" Rolin asked, bewildered.

’No... that’s not right.’

Rolin realized something, and her eyes widened in astonishment.

According to her Perception, the Magic Power from the Flame Head was... transferring to the Frost Head?!

"Damn it, what’s going on?"

Zelir frowned as well.

He had just blasted the Frost Head to within an inch of its life, but now...

It was getting back up?

Newborn Magic Power flowed along the serpentine body, pouring into the Frost Head.

The Frost Dragon Snake’s condition improved rapidly.

The Ice Crystal scales, shattered moments ago by the Magma Pillar, re-formed to once again cover its head.

The scorched-black wounds healed and regenerated at an unbelievable speed as new flesh grew back.

A harsh, cold light returned to its Snake Eyes.

The Frost Dragon Snake raised its head high and roared!

Zelir immediately realized where the Magic Power was coming from.

He glanced toward the Flame Head, and a quick scan of the battlefield told him everything he needed to know.

’Damn it...!’

’This Nine-headed Dragon Snake has a strange trick for transferring its Magic Power.’

’The Flame Head has the advantage, and the Frost Head is losing.’

’So the Nine-headed Dragon Snake is diverting Magic Power from the Flame Head to the Frost Head.’

’And now I have to shoulder the pressure that should have been on Kilian’s squad.’

Rolin looked toward the far-left battlefield, where the near-death Frost Dragon Snake was now brimming with new life.

Shame welled up within her as she, too, understood what had happened.

Feelings of powerlessness and of dragging down her teammates flooded her mind.

"Rolin, stay focused!"

Kilian barked. "Finish off the Flame Head quickly! We need to go support Zelir’s squad!"

He, too, was growing irritated.

’He, Kilian Finn, was from the illustrious Finn Clan.’

’He had been a golden child his entire life, the undisputed leader among his peers.’

’And now, in this battle, his squad—the strongest main assault force—actually needed another team to help bear their burden...’

’The humiliation was unthinkable!’

Not daring to delay, Zelir immediately pulled an Overclocking Potion from his Storage Pouch and downed it.

At the same time, he gripped a Medium Source Energy Crystal Stone and began to replenish his Magic Power.

Compared to what it did for a Junior Mage, the boost from an Overclocking Potion wasn’t much, but it was better than nothing.

The circulation speed of his internal Magic Power and his overall Magic Power Strength increased slightly.

This time, the Frost Serpent Head had learned its lesson; it wouldn’t approach the ground so easily again.

The splash from the Magma Pillar only reached a dozen or so meters high.

Besides, its most effective, core lethal range was right at the point of eruption from the ground.

With its head raised dozens of meters in the air, it could effectively avoid that.

’As long as I don’t get near the ground, this Mage can’t hurt me again!’

Realizing this, the Frost Dragon Snake let out a vengeful, triumphant hiss.

Round two!

The Frost Dragon Snake’s scales began to explode from its body.

Razor-sharp Ice Crystal Fragments bristled and then fanned out, scattering toward the squad!

SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!

The dense chorus of whistling air converged, sounding like the Grim Reaper’s scythe as it echoed across the entire left flank.

"Take cover!"

Marcus immediately hunkered down, raising his Shield in front of him.

Ice Crystal Fragments of all sizes hammered against the surface of his Heavy Shield, ringing out with a continuous CLANG!

Some of the sharper fragments even pierced through, embedding themselves in the metal plating.

Zelir activated his Blazing Flame Shield.

The intense heat combined with the Energy Barrier formed a perfect two-layered defense.

The menacing Ice Crystal Fragments melted the moment they touched the outer layer of red light.

He weathered the volley without any trouble.

But Gray and Hill, on the other hand, were not so Lucky.

"Argh!"

Gray let out a pained grunt.

Although he had swung his Longsword with all his might, deflecting many of the Ice Crystal Fragments...

...the torrential assault still broke through his defense.

Two Ice Crystal Fragments pierced his left shoulder, and several more buried themselves deep in his right leg.

Gray fell to one knee.

Hill fared slightly better than Gray, thanks to her superior agility.

She avoided any direct piercing wounds, but her back was sliced open in two places.

The Frost Cold Power seeped in through the wounds, making it feel as if her very bones were filled with shards of ice. Her movements became sluggish.

After unleashing this wide-ranging attack, the Frost Dragon Snake maintained its safe distance from the ground.

Reflected in its Snake Eyes was the sight of Zelir raising his Magic Wand to begin Casting once more.

The memory of that scorching heat still filled it with a lingering dread.

’This Human Mage... What Flame Magic is he going to use now?’

’That pillar of fire can’t hurt me anymore. Could it be that wide-area Fiery Flame Magic from before?’

The Frost Dragon Snake didn’t dare let its guard down. It opened its maw, a blue light glowing in its throat as it prepared to counter.

But a powerful suction force suddenly erupted.

Gravity Singularity!

The Frost Dragon Snake had never expected such a move, and it let out a terrified roar.

In an instant, its entire body was being brutally dragged downward.
