My Magic Has No Upper Limit
Chapter 415 - 343: Perfect Counter
Chapter 415: Chapter 343: Perfect Counter
"And we know their specific abilities, too. They are the Flame Head, the Frost Head, and the Shadow Head."
When Kilian listed the special heads, the three Combat Mages couldn’t help but smile.
Flame, Frost, Shadow...
’It’s a perfect counter!’
Rolin specializes in the Water Element, so she can handle the Flame Head.
Zelir specializes in the Fire Element, so he can take on the Frost Head.
And Adrian’s Light Magic was the perfect counter for the relatively rare Shadow Head.
How Lucky!
"So this is practically a heaven-sent opportunity for us!"
A smile appeared on Kilian’s face as well. "We must seize this chance and eliminate the Nine-headed Dragon Snake in today’s battle!"
"Everyone, check your gear. We’ll be heading out soon!"
Everyone began their final preparations before setting out.
The Adventurer’s Association camp instantly grew livelier as many eyes turned to focus on them.
"Look! Look! They’re really leaving!"
"That insignia with the spread wings... I think that represents the Finn Clan, right? The Knight in the lead is actually from the Nobility!"
"A Noble Knight is one thing, but look over there... I’ve never seen so many Mages in my life!"
"I wonder how much the materials from that Nine-headed Dragon Snake Demon will be worth..."
By now, almost everyone knew about the Nine-headed Dragon Snake.
They couldn’t help but feel a mix of admiration and envy as they watched the squad about to depart for battle.
Four Middle Level Mages, led by a Middle Level High Tier Warrior!
They were, without a doubt, the strongest people here to explore the ruins.
’I hope I can join a team like that someday...’
’To personally cut off one of the Nine-headed Dragon Snake’s heads... what a glorious moment that would be in an Adventurer’s career!’
"Captain Kilian."
Zelir walked over to Kilian, who was busy putting on his Arm Armor.
"About the latest intel on the Nine-headed Dragon Snake... how exactly did you get it?"
"You even know its Special Abilities in perfect detail."
"Money. I hired a team of Assassins to go and reconnoiter."
Kilian replied as he skillfully tightened the leather buckle on his Arm Armor.
"Those Assassins are fast. Their only job was to hang around the front of the cave and lure out the Nine-headed Dragon Snake."
"I originally just wanted to confirm if the intel was real. I never expected them to probe out its Special Abilities... It was a pleasant surprise."
"They got lucky. Some were injured, but no one died. Actually, the very first piece of intel on the Nine-headed Dragon Snake also came from an Assassin..."
"His luck wasn’t as good, though... I heard both of his teammates died, and he barely escaped with his life."
"Oh." Zelir nodded slightly upon hearing this.
’Kilian is pretty reliable after all. He even knew to send another scouting party.’
"Mage Zelir, this is going to be a tough fight."
Having fastened his Arm Armor, Kilian drew his broad Knight’s Heavy Sword and inspected its blade in the sunlight.
"We’ll be relying heavily on your Magic."
"Your contributions as captain are just as important."
Zelir replied, "Let’s win this battle together."
"You have a point."
Kilian sheathed his Heavy Sword and smiled at Zelir.
"Then here’s to our triumphant return."
...
"Move out!"
All the members of the Elite Expedition Squad, along with Zanxi, the Recorder from the Adventurer’s Association, set off for the target location under Kilian’s lead.
They encountered no surprises along the way, and no foolish Demons appeared to throw their lives away by blocking the path.
Soon, the team arrived at the designated area.
After passing through one last stretch of dim, damp Forest Area, the scene before them came into sharp focus.
Before them lay a vast clearing, several hundred meters in both length and width.
At the far end of the clearing stood a towering, vertical cliff face. Three caves were situated quietly along its jagged surface.
Just standing before the caves, even from a distance, was enough to make one feel insignificant.
On the ground, they could see massive, winding tracks where the earth had been churned up.
Without a doubt, these were the tracks left behind when the Assassin scout team lured out the Nine-headed Dragon Snake a few days ago.
"This is the place..." Kilian said softly, his tone heavy.
The leftmost cave constantly radiated a bone-chilling cold.
A thin layer of frost had even formed on the rocks and moss near its entrance.
In the middle cave, ominous shadows twisted and writhed, seeming to devour the very light around them.
And from the rightmost cave, waves of intense heat rolled out.
The locations of the three special heads were obvious at a glance.
A breeze blew past, rustling their robes and Armor.
The air grew taut, as if an invisible bowstring had been pulled tight.
An air of danger surged forth!
Following the plan, the fourteen members quickly split into three combat groups, taking up positions a hundred meters from the caves.
Zelir’s squad would face the Frost Head on the left.
The Adrian Squad would face the Shadow Head in the middle.
Kilian’s squad would face the Flame Head on the right.
The three squads’ formations were roughly the same.
The Vanguard took the lead, with Swordsmen and Warriors on the flanks looking for an opening. The Mages and Rangers remained in the safe rear.
The Shaman Mage, responsible for logistical support, stood in the middle, behind the Adrian Squad and Kilian’s squad.
The Recorder, Zanxi, was positioned even farther back, right at the edge of the Forest Area.
This was a place that would surely be untouched by the battle’s aftermath.
Facing the deep, dark, massive caves, an uncontrollable pressure began to weigh on their minds.
