Chapter 406: Chapter 339: Elite Expedition Squad

"Z-Zelir... Mage Zelir!"

Mary was a little startled.

Seeing the smiling young Mage, Mary was reminded of the embarrassing incident from a while back.

Mary inexplicably grew nervous.

Her hand unconsciously went to the bracelet that could boost her Charm. Then, right in front of Zelir, she took it off, her intention perfectly clear.

After stashing it in a drawer, Mary finally spoke in a tentative tone.

"Mage Zelir, are you here today to..."

"I’m in a shop, so of course I’m here to sell some equipment."

Zelir waved his hand, signaling for Mary to relax.

"I have a damaged Magic Robe and Magic Wand I’d like to sell."

Zelir didn’t think much of their last encounter.

’There’s no shame in making money.’

’If I can use my Charm Attribute to legally pocket a few extra Gold Coins, why wouldn’t I?’

’Besides...’

’I’ve benefited plenty from my high Charm so far.’

’A good-looking character model is the true meta!’

"Oh..."

Realizing Zelir truly had no other intentions, Mary finally relaxed.

Zelir said no more. He retrieved the spoils of his battle with the Decaying Lich from his Storage Pouch.

A somewhat tattered purple Magic Robe, and that malevolent Bone Magic Wand inlaid with a black Crystal Ball.

"Appraise these for me. See what they’re worth."

Zelir added a warning, "Be careful. I think there’s a Curse on that Bone Magic Wand, so don’t infuse it with any Magic Power."

"Alright, I understand." Mary nodded.

She put on a professional monocle and began to carefully examine the Magic Robe and the Magic Wand.

It was a quiet afternoon, and only Mary and Zelir were in the shop.

Warm sunlight spilled through the old windowpanes. As the leaves outside rustled, the golden motes of light danced and shifted.

While Mary appraised the value of the Magic Robe and Magic Wand, Zelir began to wander casually around the shop.

He walked past shelves packed with all sorts of items, his gaze sweeping over rows of magical trinkets, a thoughtful expression on his face.

Meanwhile, Mary’s gaze kept drifting over to Zelir.

She had a feeling...

’Zelir seems to have gotten a lot stronger.’

’Is it just my imagination?’

’And even his most casual movements have become more captivating.’

Mary was certain Zelir wasn’t using that Magic on her this time...

’So why is this happening?’

Zelir was fiddling with a small magical gadget that could predict the weather.

He lowered his gaze, his eyelashes appearing exceptionally long in the sunlight.

Mary felt an absurd impulse to count each and every one.

A moment later, Zelir returned to the counter.

"So?" Zelir asked.

"Ahem..."

Mary cleared her throat, composing herself to sound calm and professional.

"The quality of the Magic Robe is decent. The fabric has good Magic Power conductivity, and it has Rune Circuits to increase Magic Effectiveness."

"However, it seems quite old, and there’s a lot of damage that needs to be repaired."

Mary spoke sincerely.

"So the price won’t be too high... The best I can offer is a buyback price of one hundred and fifty Gold Coins."

"As for this Magic Wand..."

A trace of apprehension flickered in Mary’s eyes. She asked cautiously,

"Mage Zelir, if I’m not mistaken, this is designed specifically for Undead Magic, isn’t it?"

"It is." Zelir nodded calmly.

"If you don’t mind my asking, where did you get these items?" Mary couldn’t help but ask.

She wouldn’t have pried if it were any other item; she knew the etiquette.

But with items related to Undead Magic, it was better to be cautious.

Who knew if it was tied to some illegal dark ritual, or an evil Undead Mage wanted by the Mage’s Guild.

"Don’t worry, it was obtained legitimately."

Zelir understood Mary’s concerns and answered truthfully.

"I found them in some ruins. I killed a Witch Demon, and this was its gear."

"I see..."

Mary understood.

She pursed her vibrant red lips, and after a moment of thought, she spoke again.

"For the Bone Magic Wand, I can offer a buyback price of two hundred Gold Coins."

"Two hundred Gold Coins?" Zelir raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, two hundred Gold Coins."

Seeing Zelir’s expression, Mary quickly started to explain.

"Although the quality of this Bone Magic Wand is excellent, and its Crystal Ball still holds some usable Death Qi..."

"But as you’re probably aware, the risks involved with anything related to Undead Magic are huge."

"The Mage’s Guild imposes extremely strict regulations on it, so there aren’t many Undead Mages. That makes the market for a Bone Magic Wand very limited."

"On top of that, it’s Cursed. I’ll have to hire someone to purify it, which is another significant expense..."

"Two hundred Gold Coins is the absolute highest I can go. I’m definitely not trying to lowball you!"

"I didn’t say you were..."

Zelir was secretly amused by Mary’s flustered explanation.

He had only repeated the price out of sheer surprise.

’I can’t believe it’s worth two hundred Gold Coins.’

In fact, if Mary’s offer had been lower, Zelir would have accepted it.

He knew the wand was a tough sell and expected to get lowballed.

But it seemed this time, Shopkeeper Mary, who was usually so adept at using her beauty to get the better of her customers, was being completely sincere.
