Chapter 335: Chapter 304: Yo Yo Yo

Suddenly, a RUSTLE, RUSTLE sound came from below.

Aidi’s heart leaped into his throat, and every muscle in his body tensed.

’Something’s coming...’

He widened his eyes and looked down from the tree.

It was an Adventurer Squad.

’An Adventurer Squad...’

’Wait...’

’Why do they look so familiar?’

Aidi furrowed his brow, thinking for a moment. Then, a look of shock spread across his face.

This Adventurer Squad... they were the same people he had run into at the Forest Language Tavern last night!

He even remembered a blond man among them who seemed to want to say something, only to be scared off by a single glare from him.

And that black-haired, robed youth... he had called him pathetic or something.

There was also a Half-Elf in their group...

His own cruel words from last night, "the stink of a half-breed," still echoed in his ears.

If it had been an Adventurer Squad of complete strangers, Aidi might have been able to convince them to save him.

But of all people, it had to be them—people he’d already antagonized.

’Dammit, why did I have to run into them now, of all times!’

’I’m done for...’

Aidi wailed internally.

"Well, well, well..."

Gray strolled slowly to the base of the tree with his arms crossed, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"I was wondering who it could be. Why, isn’t it the proud... pure-blood... Elf?"

The other members of the squad all wore amused expressions.

Watching the scene, Zelir couldn’t stop the corners of his mouth from turning up. He had to admit, it was quite cathartic.

’The arrogant Elf who’d insulted me, accidentally stepping on a trap in the Lost Ruins and ending up bound and helpless...’

’I never thought a scenario like this would actually play out.’

It was true that without prior knowledge, it was easy to fall for something like a Trap Vine.

And from the looks of it, he had come to the Lost Ruins all by himself...

’What guts.’

"You..."

Aidi’s face flushed red with shame and indignation. He gritted his teeth. "What do you want!"

"What do you *think* we’re going to do?" Zelir raised an eyebrow.

"Are you... going to get revenge on me?" As he spoke, Aidi instinctively shrank back.

He had wanted to say something threatening, but he suddenly realized it would only make him look even more pathetic.

After all, there was truly nothing he could do right now.

"Revenge? It won’t come to that..."

Zelir smiled, a wicked urge to tease Aidi suddenly welling up inside him.

"We were never really involved with each other, so there’s no need for that... So, you’re on your own."

With that, Zelir waved a hand and began leading his squad forward, acting as if they were about to leave.

Valles had wanted to say something, but since Zelir had already made his stance clear, he could only swallow the words on the tip of his tongue.

Seeing that the Adventurer Squad wasn’t going to make things difficult for him, Aidi breathed a sigh of relief.

’Thank goodness. At least they aren’t taking advantage of my predicament or subjecting me to some worse humiliation.’

But a moment later, it dawned on Aidi.

’Wait a minute...’

’If they just leave me here... doesn’t that mean I still can’t get free?’

The vines still held Aidi tight. He couldn’t move, and the corrosive slime was still dissolving his clothes...

SIZZLE... SIZZLE...

The slime burned through another layer of fabric. Now, there was truly nothing left to stop it.

The moment the thick liquid touched his skin, a searing pain shot through him!

"Argh...!"

Aidi let out a low cry of pain, his body twitching uncontrollably.

It felt like molten iron being poured onto his body.

His skin was no match for such slime. The once-fair patch turned charred black.

Moreover, the slime continued to eat away at him, soon to reach his very flesh.

At that point, the pain would become truly unforgettable!

SIZZLE SIZZLE SIZZLE...

More of his clothing was burned through. A drop of slime landed on Aidi’s shoulder, then slid down.

Everywhere the slime touched, his skin instantly became red and swollen, the affected area rapidly expanding with a wisp of smoke.

Aidi’s expression twisted in agony. He could clearly feel his own skin and flesh melting away, bit by bit.

The sensation brought him to the verge of collapse.

The scene was no different from a slow, torturous death by a thousand cuts.

’Am I... really going to die like this?’

After one last, futile struggle, Aidi gave up on trying to free himself.

"W-Wait!"

His desire to live finally overcame his pride. Aidi shouted at Zelir’s retreating back.

"Please, wait!"

His foot pausing just before it landed on the fallen leaves, Zelir glanced back and said flatly,

"What is it? We have to get going..."

"Please... Please save me!" Aidi said desperately.

"Save you?" Zelir raised an eyebrow slightly.

He had no intention of acting immediately, merely standing there with his arms crossed.

"Yes... Please save me! Help me get these vines off!"

SIZZLE...

Another drop of corrosive acid fell, making Aidi convulse.

The pain made him bite his lower lip. In this state, he was a world away from the arrogant figure he’d cut last night.

"I know... I was wrong! My words and actions last night offended you... I shouldn’t have said those things!"

"I shouldn’t have looked at your companion that way... I shouldn’t have bad-mouthed the Half-Elf... and I shouldn’t have said you were pathetic...!"

"I’m so sorry! Please save me! *Sob*..."

The slime’s corrosion continued, and the intense pain made Aidi’s eyes well up with tears.

Tears mixed with cold sweat, blurring Aidi’s vision.

All he could do now was beg for mercy, hoping they would let bygones be bygones and help him this one time.

"Heh..."

Zelir chuckled softly, the coldness in his eyes finally melting away a little.

’So he does know how to admit when he’s wrong.’

With a flick of Night Peace, several swift Wind Blades shot out.

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!

The vines binding Aidi were instantly severed, splattering dark green sap everywhere.

"AHHHH!!"

Freed from his bonds, Aidi suddenly plummeted from mid-air.

However, he didn’t crash hard onto the ground, because Zelir had already cast a Vortex Skill beneath him.

A gentle current of air gathered, acting like an air cushion that successfully slowed Aidi’s descent.

He landed softly on the moss-covered ground, uninjured from the fall.

The moment he landed, Aidi immediately scrambled to throw off all the now-inactive vines from his body.

Its prey escaping and sensing an external attack, the Trap Vine grew enraged.

Dozens of vines intertwined, surging toward them like an overwhelming tide!

CRACK!

The sharp crack of a whip echoed as the Fire Stone Whip finished forming.

Zelir swung it around himself with all his might!

The Fire Stone Whip moved like a crimson dragon!

An impact of Magic Power, mixed with searing heat, instantly shattered the approaching vines.

A burst of fire erupted. The vines writhed in pain and curled up, and the acrid smell of burning filled the air.

The Trap Vine seemed to realize how terrifying this human was. No matter how unwilling, it could only shrink back in retreat.

Soon, tranquility returned to the patch of forest.

"Hsss..."

Aidi tried to stand, but the sharp pain from his wounds as his muscles pulled made his legs give way, and he collapsed back onto the ground.

Though he had been saved, Aidi was not in good condition.

His Leather Armor was riddled with corrosive pits, barely hanging onto his body.

As for his clothes, they were even worse, tattered with holes everywhere.

The exposed fair skin had turned a purplish-black from the corrosive slime, and some areas were already festering.

’It has to be treated.’

Zelir took a clean, absorbent cloth from his Storage Pouch and tossed it to Valles.

"Take off your clothes," Valles said.

"I..."

Aidi hesitated, subconsciously clutching the tattered collar of his shirt.

"It’s to help clean your wounds."

Valles shook the cloth in his hand.

"The slime secreted by those vines is extremely adhesive and is still seeping deep into your skin. We have to wipe it clean immediately."

Normally, Aidi would never take off his clothes in front of other humans, but now...

The slime was still eating away at his skin, and the burning pain remained.

"Alright..."

Aidi could only nod.

He did as Valles asked, though his movements were still somewhat awkward.
