599 All right, all right, I give up!
Helena then told Chris: “A new Mage has arrived to fight alongside us, and even though he’s still very young at the moment, he has the same potential as Ashton and Kevin.
Zak will join us soon here, so you’re going to meet him and I hope you will get along well with him, Miguel and Elias will send him over when they’ve finished their briefing, they want us to look after him in the afternoons.”
Chris smiled at them delightedly, he wasn’t an envious person, he knew that everyone had their own limits and for him the most important thing was that by rubbing shoulders with Warrior Spirits and Mages who had an infinite potential, he could go beyond his own limits again and again.
Iris said to him, as the countdown to start the fight didn’t begin yet: “After their fight we’ll go and raid one or more purple dungeons, so you and Yelena can get to know Zak… And it’ll be fun.”
Chris then said to them: “I thought everyone was supposed to be resting today after this morning’s battle? Including the Warrior Spirits…”
Helena laughed then and said: “Chris, how do you know about that… But don’t worry, Iris and I didn’t get hurt in the battle so Miguel and Elias said that we could go and show Zak what a purple dungeon is.”
Chris then told them: “It was Yelena who told me about the battle, otherwise I wouldn’t have known about it.”
Then he asked them curiously: “This Zak must be really important to have two of the first Warrior Spirits protecting him, right?”
Iris smiled at him and motioned for him to watch the fight that was about to begin: “Indeed, Zak is very special to us, he’s someone we respect a lot, so the sooner he gets stronger the better.”
Chris knew he wasn’t going to get any more information from them, so he didn’t insist and concentrated on the fight.
His gaze was immediately drawn to Julian, whose body was immediately covered by a yellow aura, then when it disappeared, a brown aura replaced it, and the brown aura stayed on his body like a second skin.
It was the first time Chris was seeing something like this so he asked Iris and Helena for confirmation: “Did Professor Julian just absorbed a large quantity of wind particles? And what good is this aura of earth particles going to do to him?”
Iris then said, smiling: “Julian hasn’t absorbed a large quantity of wind particles, he’s left them on the surface of his skin to increase his speed, and the brown aura covering his body is a shield, watch and learn, Julian is really very talented.”
Helena then said to them: “But Yelena is even more talented than him, look!”
Yelena had also covered her body with a large quantity of chakra and her body radiated a white glow that looked strangely like the light used by the angels except that it was nowhere near as powerful.
Iris, as the countdown to the start of the fight drew to a close, said: “Here we go!”
Julian immediately used the yellow particles that were around Yelena to create wind blades and as promised he didn’t aim for any of her vital points when he threw them at her.
When he had seen Iris and Helena arrive, he had been reassured because this way nothing serious could happen since they would intervene immediately if any danger occurred.
Iris had told him about the phenomenal power that was hidden in Yelena’s body and he understood why they wanted her to take part in this battle, but if Yelena did not fully master her powers, then this could also represent a great danger for everyone.
Julian had agreed to this fight because he wanted to see for himself that Yelena was really capable of mastering her powers as she had told him.
When Yelena saw the wind blades forming around her, she increased the concentration of her chakra around her and looked defiantly at Julian, who didn’t even hesitate for a second before throwing his attack at her.
But suddenly Julian placed his hands on the ground and he transformed it into real quicksand by mixing the water and earth particles together, making the ground about a meter deep completely muddy.
When Yelena, taken by surprise by what Julian had just done, lost her balance and sank into the mud, which considerably reduced her movements, Chris let out an exclamation of surprise and delight, as did everyone else who had stayed to watch the fight.
Miguel chose this precise moment to arrive with Zak and when he saw Yelena sink into the ground, trapped in this mud, he looked at Julian and said: “This man really does have extraordinary control over the spiritual energy that surrounds him, with only the mastery of three elements he is truly capable of creating spells that are astonishing for his level.”
Zak then approached Iris and Helena who introduced him to Chris, and he too began to observe the fight.
They then saw Julian drink a high grade Spirit potion to replenish his reserves of Soul Force and Miguel said to them, disappointed that he hadn’t the time to watch the fight: “I’ve got to go! Let me know if there’s a problem.”
Iris and Helena nodded and Yelena at the same time as Miguel disappeared again, conjured up two gigantic white hands created only with the help of her chakra, and thanks to these hands that landed on either side of the ground she was trapped in, she managed to extricate herself from it.
To be able to continue fighting Julian, she dissipated her giant hands and concentrated this chakra energy in her feet so that she could stay on the surface of the ground without sinking into it, and Julian smirked then because this was exactly what he had planned.
And as he wanted to see if Yelena was really capable of defending herself against a powerful attack, he immediately took out some lightning Talismans and as he cast a powerful water spell that looked like a giant snake with its mouth wide open ready to engulf Yelena, Julian released all the lightning particles contained in the Talismans and mixed them with his water attack.
Iris couldn’t help but shout when she saw this attack: “Yelly watch out!”
But Yelena hadn’t trained hard with Iris and Helena to lose this fight so easily, so she let herself fall once more into the mud because the energy of the earth would prevent her from being paralysed by this attack of water and lightning if she didn’t manage to avoid it entirely, and with all the charka she was able to use, she lifted all the mud around her to create a natural shield against this formidable attack, but unfortunately for her, Julian had a lot more experience than she did and at the last moment he changed the trajectory of his lightning-covered water snake, which struck her finally on her right side.
She still managed to stop more than half of this attack thanks to this wave of mud, which she managed to move enough for part of the spell to hit it, and even though her body was still protected by a chakra shield, this time it wasn’t enough to repel Julian’s attack entirely.
Yelena was out of breath after this attack and her whole body was aching, and while she was still trapped in this mud, spikes of ice appeared all around her and Julian asked her: “Do you want to continue this fight?”
Yelena sighed then and she said: “All right, all right, I give up!”
Yelena could have drawn on the energy of the cradle of magic to replenish her chakra reserve and continue to fight, but she preferred avoiding doing so and only used her true strength, only then would she become truly strong.
Julian immediately made his ice spikes he had created by mixing the wind and water particles disappear, and he immediately joined her to help her get out of this mud.
A thunderous applause then resounded, which surprised them both, and the sound of a bell then began to resound and the instructors who had stayed to make sure that everything would go well said to those who had stayed to watch the fight: “The feast is about to begin, everyone join the refectory… Julian, can you handle the rest on your own.”
Julian, who had already returned the ground to normal, leaving mud only around Yelena so that she could finally get out of the ground which had become hard again more easily, said to them: “No problem, you all go and enjoy the party with everyone else, we’ll join you later.”
And as the Shapeshifters, students and instructors made their way to the refectory, commenting on the fight they had witnessed, Iris rushed over to help Yelena and check that she was all right.
