Chapter 1513: Creating an Immortal Embankment Through Reincarnation

Inherit Dao closed his eyes and remained silent, while Li Fan was also extremely tense.

He kept a close watch on his surroundings, ready to return to the [Truth] immediately if anything seemed amiss.

Although Lord Hill Guardian was humble and never considered himself one of the great powers among the Mountains and Seas, Li Fan would not let himself be blinded by overconfidence. If his deception were exposed, revealing that he had impersonated a disciple of Lord Hill Guardian, then forget about Lord Hill Guardian. Inherit Dao himself would probably become his sworn enemy and refuse to rest until one of them was dead.

Establishing a connection between the mortal world and the Mountains and Seas seemed exceedingly difficult. Inherit Dao kept his eyes closed for a full three days before finally completing the process and rising to his feet.

"I have sent a message to the Master and given him a general account of the situation. Unfortunately, I have no idea when he will have the time to see it." Inherit Dao spoke with some regret.

Communicating with the Mountains and Seas must have placed a considerable burden on Inherit Dao. His appearance had already been extremely aged, but now it carried an even stronger aura of decay and annihilation.

"Senior Brother, please rest for a while," Li Fan urged repeatedly.

Inherit Dao did not force himself to continue. He sat cross-legged in the void and took more than a month to recover.

Li Fan was somewhat astonished. "Is contacting Master really that difficult?"

"Naturally." Inherit Dao's expression grew serious. "The Mountains and Seas are not a place that ordinary living beings from the mortal world can set foot in. It is only because of my rather special origins that I can barely endure it. Otherwise..."

"Leaving aside whether one can withstand the pressure exerted by the Mountains and Seas, even if one manages to endure it, one must constantly face the surrounding aura of Dao Annihilation, which is countless times stronger than anything in the mortal world. It is like a mortal falling into water, with the sensation of drowning and suffocating overwhelming their mind. They might go mad before actually being swallowed by Dao Annihilation."

Inherit Dao let out a long sigh. "Since ancient times, the Mountains and Seas have never been a place that living beings of the mortal world could easily enter. Without the pioneering achievements of the two Sage Lords, Lianshan and Guihai, we would not even have been able to observe them from afar."

Li Fan naturally understood how terrifying the Mountains and Seas were.

He had personally entered the Infinite Ocean before. Every drop of seawater surrounding him seemed to possess enough weight to crush his soul completely.

The difference was that Li Fan possessed a [Truth]. Under the protection of [Illusion Is Also Truth], he could now travel freely through the Mountains and Seas without obstruction for a limited period of time.

"What does it actually feel like to wander through the Mountains and Seas?" Li Fan asked Inherit Dao, pretending that he had never seen them before and was filled with longing.

Inherit Dao did not conceal anything. He described in detail, one by one, his insights and experiences from traversing the Mountains and Seas with his consciousness.

Comparing Inherit Dao's account with his own experiences, Li Fan felt even more deeply impressed by the might of [Truth].

Even someone like Inherit Dao found it exceedingly difficult to travel through the Mountains and Seas. He had to proceed with extreme caution, as though walking on thin ice. The slightest mistake could result in his death. Moreover, according to Inherit Dao himself, this was only possible because he had the protection of Lord Hill Guardian's imprint. Without Lord Hill Guardian's guidance, Inherit Dao would not be able to travel very far with his current strength.

From their casual conversation, Li Fan also confirmed that Inherit Dao had not mentioned him to Lord Hill Guardian during this communication. After all, every additional moment spent there meant enduring immense pressure. Inherit Dao could only report the most important matters.

Despite Inherit Dao's explanation, Li Fan did not believe him completely. He remained vigilant at all times, guarding against the possibility that Lord Hill Guardian might suddenly descend.

Now that he had already reported the matter to his master, Inherit Dao was unwilling to take any action on his own before receiving instructions. He could only wait for his master's response. Based on past experience, however, Lord Hill Guardian's replies were unpredictable. There was no fixed pattern to how quickly he responded.

Meanwhile, the passage through the High Wall leading to the outer star sea had already been completely sealed by Dao Annihilation. Even if Li Fan and the others wanted to seek revenge against the Guangwu Star Sea, they were temporarily powerless to do so.

All they could do was wait patiently.

The Great Dao condensed by the Giant Rat Immortal had also provided Inherit Dao with considerable enlightenment. In Li Fan's perception, the Dao Net attached to the High Wall had not only become increasingly solid, but had also begun to generate numerous new Dao Strings.

Some of these even represented Dao Laws that no longer existed in the Yuanchu Possibility. They had been comprehended by Inherit Dao himself and subsequently derived through his own understanding of the Dao. They could not serve as support for Dao Annihilation and were merely auxiliary components of the Shuo Star Sea's Dao Net.

Inherit Dao gradually immersed himself in his own contemplation, losing all sense of the passage of time.

During this period, Li Fan turned his attention to the fishing technique used by the Guangwu Star Sea to catch things from the great tide of Dao Annihilation.

The unknown existence concealed within Dao Annihilation had not yet gone far. Naturally, Li Fan would not recklessly attempt to test the technique inside the High Wall.

Li Fan's true self appeared to be meditating within the Archaic Immortal Realm.

In reality, his consciousness had already entered [Unceasing Reincarnation].

During the period when Li Fan had paid no attention to it, the cycles of time had continued to unfold within Unceasing Reincarnation. The outcome in which the Hunger Immortal destroyed the world had already repeated an uncountable number of times.

The Truth Heavenly Sovereign, whose spirituality had been completely stripped away, no longer possessed any talent for cultivation whatsoever. He had even descended into madness.

Regardless of whether this outsider was present, Unceasing Reincarnation continued to reenact the passage of time that Li Fan himself had once experienced.

This time, Li Fan had entered with his consciousness not to toy with the Truth Heavenly Sovereign again.

Instead, he intended to use this stretch of the temporal river to study the fishing technique of the Guangwu Star Sea.

"The first thing I need to verify is whether this Unceasing Reincarnation created by [Truth] qualifies as a complete possibility..."

With that thought, Li Fan's consciousness crossed the Darkest Star Sea in an instant and arrived at the High Wall.

He entered the interior of the testing ground with practiced ease.

As expected, the five phantom figures left behind by Lord Hill Guardian were still there.

"..."

Li Fan remained silent. After leaving the High Wall, he began exploring the Shuo Star Sea, which was still intact.

The Dao Net, the Immortal Hunters, and Inherit Dao.

All of them existed within this possibility.

Previously, when unlocking the functions of Unceasing Reincarnation, Li Fan had not given the matter much careful thought. He had also regarded the temporal river created by [Truth] as nothing particularly unusual. It was only now, after venturing beyond the High Wall, encountering numerous Nameless beings, and learning about the Three Sage Lords and even the existence of Transcendents, that Li Fan finally understood just how astonishing this was.

He also began to vaguely understand that his [Truth] was fundamentally different from the simple reversal of time.

"In essence, it is the same as the [Yuanchu] possibility I experience every time I activate [Truth]. The only difference is that a segment of time has been cut out of it. And furthermore..."

Li Fan attempted to enter the Infinite Ocean from within Unceasing Reincarnation.

As expected, he failed.

"The mortal world exists by relying on the Mountains and Seas."

"But this Unceasing Reincarnation was created from nothing by [Truth]. It depends solely on [Truth] and cannot connect to the Mountains and Seas. It is like a sealed chamber. From a certain perspective, that makes it absolutely safe for me."

"But if I reverse the reasoning..."

"Every time I activate [Truth] in reality, I am recreating the Mountains and Seas."

Previously, Li Fan had inferred from the lifespan displayed on his [Truth] panel that activating [Truth] reset the entire state of the Mountains and Seas.

Now, however, fresh doubts arose in his mind.

After witnessing the true might of the Mountains and Seas, as well as how [Truth] behaved when confronted with them, Li Fan realized that [Truth] might not actually stand above the Mountains and Seas. It was more likely on the same level as them.

Perhaps this could be inferred from how briefly [Illusion Is Also Truth] could deceive the Mountains and Seas before its effect wore off.

"Of course, it is also possible that my body is simply unable to withstand deceiving the Mountains and Seas for an extended period. Remaining integrated with them for too long might produce unknown side effects. Perhaps [Truth] specifically established these duration and cooldown limits to protect me."

Li Fan shook his head slightly.

With his current strength, it was still far too early for him to glimpse the mysteries of Mountains and Seas and [Truth].

In any case, as long as he could put it to use, that was enough.

Within this Unceasing Reincarnation, Li Fan could be said to be an existence without natural enemies. He had no need to worry about Mountains and Seas. Combined with the experience he had accumulated during this lifetime in reality, it took him little effort to once again establish the Archaic Immortal Realm within the High Wall and erect numerous Celestial Pillars.

"It could be said that this is a simulation within a simulation."

"Even the insights into the Great Dao that I absorb here are entirely genuine and effective."

Li Fan slowly caressed the fluctuations of Dao laws emanating from the Celestial Pillar of the Hunger Immortal, finding the sensation extraordinarily wondrous.

Although the Hunger Immortal was temporarily sealed, the starting point and endpoint of this segment of the temporal flow had long since been predetermined. Before long, she would return to the Immortal Ruins once again, without remembering anything that had happened.

Thinking of this, Li Fan paid the Hunger Immortal no further attention.

Instead, he looked at the Celestial Pillars standing perfectly upright throughout the area.

"Since this place is not truly connected to the Mountains Shangfang and the Infinite Ocean, the Dao Annihilation Tide here is merely a simulation created by [Truth]."

"But the false can be true, and the true can be false. With [Truth]'s abilities, there is virtually no difference between the false and the real. This is more than sufficient for my experiments. If I can successfully construct it within this Unceasing Reincarnation, I will be able to reproduce it in reality."

"Moreover, I can freely adjust and manipulate the flow of time here..."

The entire possibility of the Unceasing Reincarnation was practically an amusement park created exclusively for Li Fan. With a one-to-one replica of the real world, he no longer had any concerns holding him back.

He began devoting himself to studying the project of constructing a wave barrier from Celestial Pillars to fish for the Dao Annihilation Tide.

Although he had only caught a fleeting glimpse of it in the memories of the Giant Rat Immortal, the underlying principle was actually not particularly complicated.

Using the techniques of the Dao Refining Medicine King Scripture to carve the Celestial Pillars into varying heights was also an effortless task for Li Fan.

After only a dozen or so cycles of the Unceasing Reincarnation, Li Fan successfully constructed this extraordinary spectacle for the first time.

With a thought, Li Fan temporarily withdrew the power of the Lord Hill Guardian's phantom within the High Wall.

As the supporting force abruptly vanished, countless dark clouds began to appear around the shorter Celestial Pillars in the center.

Sounds like mountains roaring and seas surging continuously rang out, growing increasingly violent.

Li Fan instinctively flashed backward, putting some distance between himself and the phenomenon.

With a grave expression, he examined the vortex of the dark abyss before him. After observing it for a long time, he still could not discern any difference between this "false" Dao Annihilation Tide and the genuine Dao Annihilation Tide connected to Mountains and Seas in reality.

"It seems I still have a long way to go on my path of making the true a false and the false a true."

Li Fan steadied his mind and refocused his attention on the Dao Annihilation vortex.

Since it was not connected to Mountains and Seas, naturally, no foreign objects would be drawn in and swept toward him.

Nevertheless, judging from the commotion caused by the descent of the Dao Annihilation Tide, Li Fan confirmed that this initial attempt had already succeeded.

The only thing he still could not accomplish was what had been achieved in the Guangwu Star Sea. After successfully capturing foreign objects within the surging Dao Annihilation Tide, he could not restore the shorter central Celestial Pillars to their original state.

The consequence was that once this project began, it also meant that the arrival of the world-destroying calamity brought by the Dao Annihilation Tide was not far away.

"Carving them down is easy. But restoring what has been removed, and making sure they return to their original state completely within a short period..."

Li Fan recalled the bizarre scene he had witnessed when the Guangwu Star Sea fished in the Dao Annihilation Tide. The faces of Nameless True Immortals had appeared on each of the Celestial Pillars.

"Without their own cooperation, I am afraid it will be impossible."

Li Fan rubbed his chin and looked once more at the Hunger Immortal sealed within the Celestial Pillar.

The Hunger Immortal in this Unceasing Reincarnation was almost identical to the one Li Fan had come to understand in the original possibility of reality. After witnessing the many heaven-defying methods Li Fan had demonstrated, along with the miserable fates of her fellow True Immortals who had been transformed into Celestial Pillars and then carved down, the Hunger Immortal wisely and decisively chose to cooperate.

"Since I can use the Dao Refining Medicine King Scripture to strip away all your comprehensions of the Dao laws, you should naturally be able to use the same scripture to reclaim what you have lost."

"Life and death are one, merging with the Dao to attain truth. Free and unfettered beyond the material world, my elixir is thereby complete. This is the art of the Great Pill of Heaven and Earth. Listen carefully, and I shall explain it to you..."

Li Fan generously imparted the entirety of this supreme technique to her.

At first, the Hunger Immortal was still somewhat apprehensive. However, as her understanding of the Dao Refining Medicine King Scripture gradually deepened, her entire mind and attention were slowly drawn into it.

The Hunger Immortal's comprehension could only be described as decent.

Li Fan had almost run out of patience waiting when she finally managed to grasp the rudiments of this Dao refining wondrous method.

However, only then did Li Fan discover that although the Hunger Immortal had been slow to learn it, she was even more proficient than he was when it came to actual application.

After observing her carefully, Li Fan finally noticed something unusual.

"The Dao of Hunger is actually naturally compatible with the Dao Refining Medicine King Scripture. When I refine Dao pills, I must have someone else consume them and transform them before they can be considered absolutely safe."

"But the Hunger Immortal has no such concerns. She can swallow them directly without any restrictions. Although she is already imprisoned, she has no need to worry about whatever hidden schemes might lurk behind the Dao Refining Medicine King Scripture. Nevertheless, this does partially demonstrate the special nature of the Dao of Hunger, an external Dao law. After all, it is a Dao path capable of entering another possibility and replacing its counterpart, thereby gaining a new lease on life..."

In this way, although he still did not know precisely how the Guangwu Star Sea had achieved the transformation of the Celestial Pillars between different heights, Li Fan managed, through his own knowledge and considerable effort, to achieve the effect he desired.

Afterward, Li Fan further modified the Medicine King Scripture he had imparted, using the feedback he received from the Hunger Immortal.

He removed all the unnecessary components.

The technique only needed to be capable of facilitating the changes in the Celestial Pillars.

...

His objective had now been achieved. From the moment Li Fan entered the Unceasing Reincarnation to the present, only a little over twenty cycles had passed.

Meanwhile, in the real world, barely more than a quarter of an hour had elapsed!

This was precisely what made [Truth]'s power so terrifying.

Li Fan watched the Hunger Immortal, who had mastered the miraculous technique and was congratulating herself with smug satisfaction. As the reincarnation began anew, he saw the look of utter astonishment on her face.

For some reason, he suddenly recalled a sentence that Lord Hill Guardian had once said to Inherit Dao.

"Unrelated to the final outcome."

Just as the beginning and end of this Unceasing Reincarnation had long since been predetermined, perhaps everything in the mortal world had already been decided as well.

"No matter how desperately all living beings struggle, the ending will never change."

Li Fan pondered these words and could not help falling into a brief daze.
