My Living Shadow System Devours To Make Me Stronger

Chapter 996 - 998: Kill Order

Chapter 996: Chapter 998: Kill Order

Ironically, Damon hadn’t planned any of this.

By his best estimate, he would have fought the tower lords in a long and bloody battle, barely won, and then taken time to recover.

Instead, he now had all the tower lords kneeling in his presence, and his tower had become the central tower of the City of Trace. The One Tower.

That wasn’t all.

It had evolved.

Its structure had grown sharper, more jagged, more demonic in shape, and at its peak a growling ball of fire burned like a second sun, casting an ominous glow over the entire city.

More importantly, he had received a letter.

In three days’ time, a priestess from the Snake Temple would arrive to personally escort him there to collect his reward.

Which was perfect.

They would finally locate the temple hidden from the world.

Of course, Damon had informed Seras, and she was ready.

As long as she had the coordinates, she could teleport there, and together they could steal the Ouroboros Coil. If possible, Damon was not allowed to reveal his hand. His orders were clear. Continue acting as a demon.

There was also the issue of why Damon Grey wasn’t appearing on the battlefield.

Apparently, the goddess races were crafting a replica of his Ascendant Armor and would have someone wear it to impersonate him.

It was only a replica, of course. It held none of the true power of the Ascendant Armors.

The Temple of Doom had once tried to acquire the real armors, but they eventually gave up. The wearers were all major figures, and even if they obtained one, there was no guarantee they could replicate it.

Lysithara had been the crown of magic and science in the ancient world, and even they had only created six armors for their six lords. Six of the most brilliant sages in their civilization.

Damon sat in his chair, tapping the armrest lightly with his fingers as demon heirs stepped forward one after another to report and introduce themselves.

Gotrog and Bakemon were already working together to restructure the troops into a unified command.

Still, Damon was curious about something.

“How far have the goddess races advanced into the Black Mountains?” he asked calmly.

Bakemon stepped forward, unfurling a large parchment with both hands.

“My lord, from our recent reports, they are currently a hundred kilometers into the mountain range, with heavy air support and massive artillery barrage from their ships at the shore providing cover fire,” Bakemon reported.

Damon frowned faintly.

Only a hundred kilometers.

That was disappointing.

He had expected more.

The demon continent was clearly harder to invade than they thought. If this invasion failed, the demons would counter-invade.

“Hmm. With that much firepower, I would have expected them to reach the first mountain fort,” Damon said.

Gotrog nodded, sparks trickling down from his horns as he spoke.

“Yes, my lord. They underestimated the mountains once again. These mountains do not favor unfriendly invaders. A thick fog has covered the fort and the battlefield, making it impossible for aerial support and ships to target us properly.”

Damon didn’t need to imagine further.

That was bad.

Air support couldn’t just bombard mountains blindly without knowing whether they were hitting allies or enemies. The ships had the same problem.

As long as the fog remained, this was ground infantry combat.

And that was worse for the goddess races.

Demons were physically stronger, and this was their home terrain.

“Who is leading them?” Damon asked, his tone cooling slightly.

“That would be Abellona of Destruction,” Bakemon replied.

“I see. The third princess of Valtheron.”

A faint smile touched Damon’s lips as he remembered the beautiful princess with cold red eyes. She had been born with the attribute of destruction itself.

If she was leading, then the goddess races were in capable hands. She had far more battlefield experience than Damon.

The only thing he had over her was underhanded tactics.

“Are there any emerging champions in the war?” Damon asked.

“Yes, my lord. The army has been having trouble with the Ascendants.”

Damon’s expression hardened slightly, and the room fell silent.

“Has Damon Grey shown himself?” he asked.

Bakemon looked confused.

“No, my lord. Only the others, with the exception of Sylvia Moonveil. Our scouts have heard she is with the armada from the Verdant Continent.”

Gotrog nodded, his voice dropping into a sinister whisper.

“Of them all, the most vile is Xander Ravenscroft. The Colossus.”

“The what?” Damon repeated.

“He is called the Colossus. He can grow to the size of mountains and crush our soldiers. He uses his giant form as both shield and transport for powerful fighters. Those who attempt to fight him are crushed by immense gravity. No matter how much damage he takes, he does not fall. And if he does, he rises again.”

“Everyone loves him for his honorable ways and his deep-seated hatred for our kind.”

Damon’s expression remained perfectly deadpan.

Inside, he was cursing violently.

’Damn Xander. I leave for a little while and you steal my show. I can feel you aura-farming from all the way here. Turned into a giant? Since when could he do that? Is that a skill or an application of his Ascendant Armor? Son of a witch. Meat shield.’

Damon raised a hand to stop them, then stood and walked slowly toward the transparent glass overlooking the city.

“Xander Ravenscroft has committed grave acts against our holy race. It is only fair that he pays the price.”

He clasped his hands behind his back, posture straight.

“By my order as Lord of Demons, I, Ash, in my glorious name, call upon all demons to place the Ten Thousand Kill Order on Xander Ravenscroft. Whoever brings me his head shall be greatly rewarded.”

A wave of shock passed through the room.

A Ten Thousand Kill Order.

He was effectively ordering every demon to hunt Xander.

Even Damon Grey had never had such an order placed on him.

A slow smile tugged at Damon’s lips.

“Hmph. You dare farm my aura, damn meat shield.”
