Chapter 863: Chapter 853: Fell for It

"Sister Jun, get in the car!"

Su Qing shouted at Li Zijun, who was wearing a raincoat in the distance.

With Du Qiang, the two headed directly to the West City District, which is quite close to the city outskirts. The economy there wasn’t very developed, and the buildings were old, thus it was known as the West Suburb.

By now, it had started to rain outside. Neither of them wore a raincoat, so they simply stayed in the car.

Upon hearing the voice, Li Zijun looked over, thought for a moment, then walked over, opened the back seat door, took off her raincoat, and got in.

"You two are pretty slow. At this pace, if there’s a sudden situation, the suspect would be long gone," Li Zijun said once she got in the car.

Su Qing responded with a chuckle, "Something came up tonight, my phone was turned off outside. I charged it when I got home. What’s the situation here?"

"Well, the officers have already sealed off the scene and set up a rain shelter. The situation is unclear, so we dare not move things around. However, they did find Zhao Dongyang’s ID card and a bloody knife in the car. It’s most likely a vehicle used for disposing of a corpse.

Officer Zhao took a team to capture the suspect based on the monitor footage. It’s very likely we’ll meet the suspect tonight," Li Zijun said confidently.

The police system had already reviewed the so-called surveillance, tracking the suspect’s movements. Under such conditions, arresting someone is too easy.

Not only in a city like Jiang City, but even an average county would have surveillance almost everywhere as long as one operates within the city.

Upon hearing this, Su Qing looked forward to see a rain shelter covering a vehicle not far away. Most police officers stood outside wearing raincoats, including Lin Chengcai. Inside the shelter, forensic experts were collecting samples, fingerprints.

On the other side, Zhao Minghui led a team rushing towards a neighborhood following information provided by surveillance personnel at the bureau.

Soon, the team got ready, surrounded the old neighborhood, entered the property management office, and retrieved the surveillance footage.

Luckily, there was no issue with the surveillance this time, and they quickly pinpointed the suspect’s exact location.

At Zhao Minghui’s order, a group of people stormed upstairs to a front door.

Bam bam bam!

"Who is it?"

"Property management! People downstairs say the noise in your home is too loud!" A glasses-wearing middle-aged man nervously responded at the door, while Zhao Minghui and his team stood ready outside, waiting to move.

After all, confronting a suspect involved in a murder case requires even armed police officers to be on high alert.

Creak~~

A woman cautiously opened the door.

The next moment, a group rushed in.

"Ah~~" the woman screamed sharply.

"Don’t move! Police! Get down on the ground, hands on your head!"

The woman was pushed to the floor by the police, and everyone rushed in, quickly drawing their guns aimed at a bewildered man sitting on the sofa.

Normal people are rarely exposed to such a scene and would be terrified. Resistance was minimal.

"We are police from the Jiangcheng City Public Security Bureau. You’re notified that you’re linked to a murder case. Please cooperate with our investigation!"

Zhao Minghui displayed his badge loudly. Even though the suspect was the driver, it couldn’t prove his involvement at the moment, so cuffs weren’t applied, but the man was restrained.

"Police... sir, I don’t know! I haven’t done anything, I’m innocent!"

The man shouted his grievance!

Zhao Minghui surveyed the area and sensed something was amiss, he directly asked: "Did you drive a vehicle with license plate ****** to the outskirts market at 6:30 PM today?"

"Yes... but I’m just a chauffeur! Someone paid me 500 to drive the car there. I really don’t know anything!" The man pressed to the ground desperately explained.

Upon hearing this, Zhao Minghui’s mind buzzed, and his voice rose: "What? You’re a chauffeur?"

"Yes... yes!"

"Who asked you to drive the car? What do they look like?"

Although it’s uncertain whether the man was truthful, Zhao Minghui already felt something was wrong.

This family was too harmonious or maybe too calm, not showing characteristics of a killer.

Though his criminal psychology wasn’t as profound as Lin Chengcai’s, years of experience allowed some judgment.

"Captain Lin, mostly done. We’ve lifted fingerprints from the steering wheel, but the car must be taken back for a full inspection. But this car is strange. It’s a second-hand Xiali yet the rear seat area is sealed with boards forming two separate spaces, and even the rear windows are covered with plastic film. We don’t know why!"

A masked man stepped forward, it was Zhou Ning.

The blood and hair samples from the car need professional equipment to analyze back at the office, only general conclusions are formed visually onsite.

Lin Chengcai understood the outcome, he simply nodded.

At that moment, Lin Chengcai’s phone rang suddenly, he checked to see it was old Zhao, showing a gratified smile.

The two were clear in their roles, one capturing suspects, the other surveying the scene, expanding search areas, and locating the primary scene. Zhao Minghui calling meant progress over there.

"Hello, old Zhao, all going smoothly?"

But in the next second, Lin Chengcai’s demeanor changed.

"Old Lin, things are amiss. We’ve located the suspect, but he’s a chauffeur paid 500 to drive the car here, strictly instructed not to open the back door. I suspect he’s being used."

As soon as the words ended, the remaining smile on Lin Chengcai’s face froze.

"Old Lin, we just tried to contact the informant, but they can’t be reached anymore!"

Instantly, a flash struck through Lin Chengcai’s mind, his eyes widened: "Not good, we’ve been tricked!"

"What do you mean tricked?"

"Liu Chunbao, quick, contact Liu Chunbao! Don’t ask why, hurry!" Lin Chengcai shouted over the phone before hanging up.

"Everyone, keep a team at the scene, others follow me to Dalincun, hurry!"

Lin Chengcai’s abrupt loss of composure startled many, but the police’s execution ability was high.

"Yes!"

Seeing this, Li Zijun and Du Qiang quickly got out of the car despite the rain outside!

"Master, what’s wrong?"

"Captain Lin, is something wrong with my master?"

Looking at his two closest juniors, Lin Chengcai shook his head before speaking: "Old Zhao is fine. By the way, Xiaoqiang, has Xiao Su arrived?"

"Yes, she’s over there!"

Then Lin Chengcai jogged over, tapped the car window, Su Qing lowered it, asking: "Captain Lin, something happened?"

"Mm, we’ve probably been tricked, the suspect led us here intentionally, I suspect their target is Liu Chunbao. Xiao Su, quickly think over which classmates of yours are most suspicious. Let’s talk less and move fast!"

While speaking, raindrops made a soft sound against his black raincoat.

"Alright! I understand."

Then Lin Chengcai shouted to Du Qiang: "Xiaoqiang, stay at the scene, Xiao Li come with me!"

"Yes, Master!"

"No, Captain Lin, take me with you! I don’t want to stay!" Du Qiang shouted.

But the surroundings were in chaos, quickly, everyone got in cars and left the scene.

"Aqing, wait, take me along, trust me, I’ll protect you!"

Watching Du Qiang holding onto the car door, Su Qing refused directly: "Qiangzi, it’s not that I’m not helping, but Captain Lin instructed you to stay. I dare not take you, just wait for good news from us!"

After saying this, Su Qing hit the gas and drove off.

He’s got his own things to do, it’s impossible to bring others along.
