My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 485: The Plan To Reclaim Eden [Part 2]

The Barbarians, as a race, generally liked to fight up close and personal.

The scene of tens of thousands of barbarians charging at you without anything blocking their path was very scary.

It was enough to make anyone panic and render them unable to think properly.

Troy wanted that kind of effect on their enemies, for it would allow them to carry over the momentum of the destruction of the city.

Hagen, who had received proper treatment back in the Aslan Tribe, was also in favor of this head-on charge against their enemy.

After being defeated by Leone, his standing within his tribe had fallen drastically.

Since then, no one questioned Leone’s authority within the united tribes. Although his crowning ceremony was still on hold, everyone wholeheartedly considered him their King.

The young man’s plan to let them stay in Aslan City made them truly realize how amazing he was.

Building a vast city that looked and felt better than Eden easily won their hearts.

Then, there was the issue with the Gryphon Battalion.

Having such powerful beasts accompany them in battle greatly raised the morale of the warriors.

That wasn’t all.

The beasts that accompanied the other tribes would also take part in this counter-offensive.

The Black Manticores of the Darkmane Tribe.

The Dread Wyverns of the Bonegnash Tribe.

The Rocs of the Warclaw Tribe.

The Fenrir of the Grimhowl Tribe, as well as the Shanlong of the Sandreaver Tribe.

Needless to say, the Raptors, the Drakes, the Sky Drakes, and the Ravage Tribe would also join in this battle.

This was the strongest lineup the Borderlands had historically gathered.

This force was strong enough to take over an entire kingdom.

"Then, how about a compromise?" Gundar asked. "The tribes wish for a head-on confrontation, while Leone wants to attack them from a distance. Let’s just combine both strategies into one."

Actually, after thinking about it, all the chieftains also came to the same conclusion.

The moment the city of Eden was destroyed, the Fireshard Catapults could unleash their first volley while the tribes charged at the city.

By doing so, it would allow them to close the distance while the enemy was in chaos.

The siege weapons would continue with their bombardment, but it would now target the back of the enemy lines.

This would allow the barbarians storming the city to kill everyone in their path without worrying about friendly fire from their siege weapons.

As they continued to strategize, more bold ideas came out in the open. Before everyone knew it, the plan to recapture the city had been completed.

’Well, this went better than I expected,’ Conall thought. ’It seems that I have underestimated these barbarians too much. They at least know how to strategize.’

Truth be told, before Conall headed to the Borderlands, he thought the barbarians were all brawn and no brains.

But after spending time with them, he realized that they were not really the savages that everyone had portrayed them to be.

Sure, their civilization was not as grand as the Kingdom of Britannia and the Radiant Empire. However, after seeing Aslan City, Conall believed that the Borderlands would change for the better.

In fact, he believed that it might even surpass the Kingdom of Britannia, as well as the Radiant Empire.

Conall didn’t want to admit it, but he was already looking forward to seeing how far Leone would go.

The mercenary leader thought that after completing this mission, he and his men would return to the Radiant Empire and get back to work.

That was the right thing to do, and yet... he was starting to think that staying with the Aslan Tribe wasn’t such a bad idea.

’Well, I think the master will approve of it,’ Conall thought.

Leone’s great-grandfather, Lugh, was a very carefree man. Although he could be unreasonable and didn’t mind using force to get what he wanted, he truly cared for his subordinates.

Moreover, Leone was a very important descendant. Conall believed that Lugh wouldn’t disapprove of Lost Paradise staying to watch over him and the Aslan Tribe.

With these thoughts in mind, Conall finally left the meeting to tell his subordinates about what everyone had agreed upon.

Suddenly, Oisin came to talk to him and took him to see the leader of the Orion Troupe.

"It has been a while, Hyacinthe." Conall greeted the Half-Elf, who was leading one of the hidden forces of their Master, Lugh.

"We haven’t seen each other for a few months, but you look better since the last time I saw you," Hyacinthe replied.

They had previously collaborated on more than one occasion, and the two leaders got along relatively well.

"I heard about your infiltration mission from Oisin," Conall said in a teasing tone as he took a seat. "It must have been an eye-opening experience for you, right?"

"More like a life-threatening experience," Hyacinthe corrected him. "I swear I almost died back then."

Conall chuckled. He wished he’d been there to watch the scene. "So, what is your first impression of Leone and the Aslan Tribe?"

"I admit I had low expectations before I arrived in the Borderlands," Hyacinthe replied. "But now, I am starting to think that our Master might be planning something big by sending both of us here."

Conall nodded in agreement.

Although it might look like a great-grandfather was just trying to make sure that his great-grandson was safe and well, they also believed that Lugh wouldn’t go that far unless he saw some potential in Leone.

"I think the Master is trying to play Kingmaker," Oisin commented from the side.

Conall and Hyacinthe exchanged glances, thinking that what Oisin said might be true.

If that really was Lugh’s goal, then the possibility of him personally joining Leone in his future campaigns was very high.

"Damn... we might just be witnessing the birth of a kingdom." Hyacinthe sighed.

"Not a kingdom," Oisin replied. "An empire. I believe Leone can not be contained by the Borderlands. I can feel it in my bones."

"If that really happens, then we will not run out of mercenary work for a while." Conall smiled faintly. "Who knows? We might even become nobles while helping him build his kingdom."

"Empire," Oisin corrected. "It’s an empire, not a kingdom."

"Whether it becomes an empire or a kingdom, it doesn’t really matter," Hyacinthe commented. "What matters is whether our Master would allow us to stay here or not."

At his words, the three men fell into silence.

They obeyed Lugh’s orders, no matter how unreasonable they were.

All they could do was hope that in the following years, they would be stationed within the Aslan Tribe.

But for now, they would focus their attention on the upcoming war against the Aurelion Army, which was the first step that would let the continent hear of Leone Frontera’s name.
