My Kingdom Building Done Right!
Chapter 483: A Son’s Worry
The nights of the Borderlands were cold.
And yet, they chose this time of day to move their troops towards their second camp, which was a few days away from Eden.
Since they were all traveling through the air, they were much faster. Not to mention, they didn’t need to bring a lot of supplies with them.
Brann and Boris flew at the very front, while Leone flew behind them.
"Are you cold, Leone?" Yuni, who was hugging him from behind, asked.
"No," Leone replied. "Your body is very warm, Yuni."
Since the young lady had decided to accompany Leone in battle, she also decided to ride with him on Arion’s back, acting as his bodyguard as well.
According to their estimates, they would arrive at their destination in three to five hours.
If they were to travel normally using land routes, they would arrive there in seven days.
However, flying in the sky allowed them to travel in a straight route without being forced to take a detour due to geographical constraints.
The chieftains of each tribe also flew in the sky, knowing they must arrive faster than their men to help defend their temporary camp.
As for those traveling by land, Leone was confident that they would arrive within two to three days since they had not brought much baggage with them.
Instead, the Pteranodons would be the ones bringing them their daily supplies, as well as carrying some of the riders on their return trip after resting a bit.
This would ensure that everyone would be in the camp before their counter-offensive started.
It was then that Daedalus spoke to Leone using telepathy.
"Leone, can I have some of your time?" Daedalus asked. "I have a very important report to make."
"What is it?" Leone asked.
The grimoire then told Leone about the meeting between King Druvis III, Magnus, Evander, and Zepharion.
Since Eden was now Leone’s territory, Daedalus could monitor everything happening inside it.
After hearing the grimoire’s report, Leone’s face turned solemn.
The young man cursed Hagen internally as he thought of ways to deal with the current situation. Although the King of Britannia might just brush off the information about Leone being the Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe and call it complete hogwash, there was no guarantee he wouldn’t do anything.
Even if he didn’t believe this piece of news, he might still frame the Frontera Family out of spite and to vent out the cumulative frustration from the Kingdom facing one problem after another.
"Yuni, hug me tighter and make sure I don’t fall off Arion’s back," Leone said. "I will transfer to my clone for a bit."
"Okay." Yuni nodded and then hugged Leone a little tighter, supporting his entire body.
With that, Leone closed his eyes and transferred his consciousness to his clone. As soon as he gained control over the body, the first thing he did was find his grandfather, Andreas.
He then shared the news that he got from Daedalus with him, which made his grandpa’s face turn serious.
"Let’s go to the Duchy," Andreas said without hesitation. "I need to inform my father about this news. Although I don’t know how you got this news, I believe you wouldn’t joke around with something like this."
Leone agreed that this was the best move they could make right now.
The current Patriarch of the Helion Family had already seen Leone’s miraculous powers, so he was more inclined to believe his words.
Plus, if what he said was true, then his daughter was in danger. Andreas wouldn’t just stand by and let anything happen to Helen.
Several minutes later, they appeared in the Helion Duchy, surprising Lugh, who was currently deep in paperwork.
However, when Leone repeated the news to his great-grandfather, Lugh didn’t hesitate to contact Helen right away.
It took a while, but when the communication crystal lit up, it projected the image of a beautiful woman who shared many of Leone’s features.
"Grandfather, why did you suddenly reach out?" Helen asked. But when she saw that even her son was with his grandfather, and that both had serious expressions on their faces, she knew that something was amiss. "Did something happen?"
"It would be best if you heard it directly from Leone," Lugh said.
Leone nodded and told his mother about the news of his identity being leaked to the King of Britannia.
Helen wanted to ask how his son got hold of this information and whether it was credible or not. However, after seeing how serious Leone’s expression was, she decided to take everything he said as the truth.
"Understood." Helen nodded. "I’ll make the necessary preparations on my end. Unfortunately, your father and older brother are still participating in the counter-offensive against the Barbarians and Beastkin armies. I’ll try to reach out to them after this call."
"Father is a very resourceful person," Leone said calmly. "As long as you pass this message to him, he can think of a way to handle this matter."
"Yes." Helen smiled. "Your father is that kind of person. Also, thank you for warning us as soon as possible, Leone. I’ll end our talk here and start making my own preparations.
"Knowing that despicable King of Britannia, he would be more than happy to use any excuse to target our family, even if he has no way to verify the accuracy of the information given to him."
Leone agreed with his mother. Indeed, King Augustus was that kind of person. With the Gryphon Battalion sent away, he needed an alternative sacrificial lamb to slaughter and blame for the losses he had suffered in this campaign.
When the talk finally ended, Leone asked his grandfather and great-grandfather an important question.
"Does anyone else know that my mother is connected to the Helion Family?" Leone asked.
""No.""
Andreas and Lugh answered at the same time.
"Helen was raised differently from the rest of her siblings," Andreas stated. "We received a prophecy from the Oracle of the Goddess of Light before Helen was born. According to the prophecy, the child would one day give birth to a great person. So, to ensure her safety, we decided to raise her in a separate location."
"Even now, only the direct line of the Helion Family knows who she is," Lugh said. "To outsiders, she was simply someone raised in one of the many orphanages that our family had established."
Leone had no idea how King Augustus would react if he discovered that the bloodline of the Helion Family actually flowed through Helen’s veins.
If he did, she might be used as a hostage to put Andreas and Lugh at a great disadvantage.
But if her identity were to be revealed, it could also offer her some protection as well.
Since they knew that Lugh would wage war for his family, the King of Britannia might be more cautious in dealing with Helen and the Frontera Family.
Leone didn’t know which one was better, but one thing was clear.
If King Augustus really dared to harm his family, he wouldn’t mind destroying the Kingdom of Britannia with his own hands.
Perhaps, understanding what he was thinking about, Lugh lightly patted his great-grandson’s shoulder.
"Don’t worry, I have sent very capable individuals to watch over Helen and her family," Lugh said with confidence. "Also, if they really dare to harm even a strand of her hair..."
The Hero of the Radiant Empire didn’t finish the rest of whatever he was going to say next.
Just like Leone, he cared deeply for his family and those who carried his blood.
If the two of them worked together, then destroying a kingdom or two was not an impossible thing to do.
