My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 341: Don’t Tell Your Mother [Part 1]

Andreas took out several storage rings and started storing the gold coins inside them.

Meanwhile, Lugh ordered everyone at the scene to keep this secret to their grave, requiring all the knights, including Jeeves, to swear an oath that they would not speak of it until they breathed their last.

After making their pledge, Lugh dismissed everyone else, leaving only him, Andreas, and Jeeves at the entrance of the treasury.

Jeeves had served the Helion Family since its founding, so his loyalty was absolute. This was why he was allowed to know many of their family secrets, which he guarded with everything he had.

"Some suspicious movements are detected from the Kingdom of Britannia, Grandfather," Helen said. "It looks like they are preparing for war. I don’t know if they’re planning to attack the Radiant Empire or march southward to the Borderlands."

"Is that so?" Lugh smiled faintly. "Thanks for the heads-up, Helen. Now that the family has enough funds, I’m sure your father could finally make the proper arrangements."

"Leave it to me, Father," Andreas replied. "The Kingdom of Britannia won’t be able to break past our borders."

Lugh was a Grand Duke, while Andreas inherited this title. As such, he acted as the king of his own domain. If he wanted to, he could even build an army that rivaled the main force of the Radiant Empire.

"Leone, although this information has not been confirmed yet, it will be best if you share it with your allies just in case," Helen said to her son.

"Yes, Mother." Leone nodded. "I’ll make sure to spread the word."

If the Kingdom of Britannia really marched southward, the first faction they would encounter would be none other than the Aslan Tribe.

In fact, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Leone had become the wall preventing the Kingdom of Britannia from gaining a solid foothold in the Borderlands.

Remembering how unfairly he had been treated, the young man would never allow the King of Britannia and his cronies to invade the place he had built from scratch!

"Since we’re on that topic, Helen, do you think it will be possible to build a teleport gate between the Helion Duchy and the Aslan Tribe?" Lugh played with his beard. "That way, we can send Leone some support if he really needs it."

"I’m not sure, Father," Helen answered. "The distance is too far. Plus, the expenditure of magic stones will not be low. Even if it succeeds, we might only be able to move a handful of people at a time."

"A handful is fine." Lugh smiled faintly. "We can always just send our Elites to give my great grandson the help he deserves. Of course, if there really is an emergency, I can just head there myself."

Helen and Andreas’ faces turned serious after hearing his words. Even Leone felt that the conversation had taken a sudden turn to something he didn’t see coming.

"Actually, the Orion Troupe will be the perfect messengers to help build that teleportation gate," Lugh explained. "There is just one problem. They cannot travel directly through the Kingdom of Britannia.

"Instead, they will have to detour through the Beastkin Kingdom of Everheim, then head south through the Azura Kingdom of the Barbarian King. After that, they will travel southeast until they finally arrive at the Borderlands. I estimate it will take them about a month to reach the Aslan Tribe."

Andreas frowned. "Father, I understand you plan to send the Orion Troupe to this brat’s—errr, I mean, this child’s domain. However, the Radiant Empire is currently at war with the Beastkin Kingdom and the Barbarian Kingdom. Will they even allow the Orion Troupe to travel within their territories?"

Lugh smirked in return. "Oh, I’m sure I can handle that. You see, the father of the current Beastkin King and I are sworn brothers. This is why I made sure that the Helion Family’s stronghold is built facing the Kingdom of Britannia in the south.

"After all, the last thing I want is for my sworn brother and me to clash blades against each other. As long as I send him a message, letting the Orion Troupe pass through their territory untouched will be a piece of cake."

Andreas knew that his father had met many powerful and influential people during his younger days. That being said, his connection network was very vast.

"Then how about the Azura Tribe led by the Barbarian King?" Andreas inquired. "They might be allies with the Beastkin Kingdom, but they have their own rules."

"You don’t need to worry about that either," Lugh explained. "The Barbarian King will not cause the Orion Troupe any trouble."

Andreas arched an eyebrow at those words. "You’re that confident?"

"Of course."

"Why?"

Lugh smiled. "Because I know his family."

Andreas frowned. "You also know the Barbarian King like how you know the Beastkin King’s father?"

"Not personally. Not in the way you’re thinking, at least." Lugh stroked his beard. "However, his family and I have a rather long history."

Leone became curious. "Are you friends with his family, Great Grandfather?"

"Something like that." Lugh’s eyes drifted toward the distance as a nostalgic smile appeared on his face.

"You see, when I was young, I was quite the wanderer. I spent my teenage years freely exploring the world, traveling from kingdom to kingdom, visiting places I had never seen before and meeting all kinds of people."

Andreas nodded. "That does sound like you."

He grew up hearing the tales of his father and his adventures across the continent.

"I was young, free, and had no responsibilities. Naturally, I took full advantage of it." Lugh chuckled. "With that said, I visited the lands that would eventually become the lands of the Azura Kingdom. Back then, it looked nothing like what it is today. I met many people there, including a certain young lady."

Leone suddenly had a bad feeling about where this story was going.

"She was beautiful, charming, and quite fond of adventurous young men." The smile on Lugh’s face widened.

However, there was something in the tone of his voice that made Andreas, Helen, Leone, and Jeeves feel a little uneasy.

Andreas frowned. "Father..."

"What?"

"Why do I suddenly feel like I shouldn’t be listening to this?"

Lugh didn’t answer right away. He just smiled faintly, acting all mysterious. Though, after a moment of silence, he continued his story.

"Anyways, I was young, she was young, and we happened to enjoy each other’s company."

Helen’s face became increasingly suspicious. "Grandfather, what exactly are you trying to tell us?"

"I’m getting there, my dear granddaughter. Let me finish my story," Lugh replied calmly. "It was a long time ago. I was a teenager who enjoyed exploring the world, while she was a beautiful woman I met during my travels. One thing led to another, and then...we had a memorable tryst."

Andreas and Helen didn’t find anything wrong with this part at first.

They knew that Lugh wasn’t a womanizer, but he was a very handsome and charismatic person. It wouldn’t come as a surprise if he and a lady during his travels suddenly had a moment of passion.

Though, based on his story, the father and daughter pair suddenly had a realization.

Andreas stared at his father in disbelief.

If what he thought was true, then his father’s story had suddenly become much more complicated than he originally thought it would be.

Helen also seemed to arrive at the same realization, subconsciously covering her lips with her fan in surprise.

As for Jeeves, the head butler of the Helion Family, he wished he could be somewhere else right now.

He had served the Helion Family for most of his life, learning countless secrets that must never see the light of day.

However, judging by the look on Lugh’s face, whatever he was about to reveal next might be the most dangerous secret he had ever heard.

One that could potentially endanger not only the Helion Family, but everyone connected to them as well.
